Great camera. Takes great pictures in both RAW and JPG, and at the same time. New focus system is very good. Video at 4K is great. Only negative is no hot shoe.

A talented professional photographer recommended this camera to me, saying he uses it on shoots when he is not using his full size camera. As a non-professional photographer, it well exceeded my expectations. The quality of the photos is impeccable, and the super slo-mo movie feature is just plain fun. You can stick with Auto settings, but it you choose to tailor the settings to your shots, the extended manual is easy to understand and a useful resource. I add my five star rating to the many others that have been given to this came.

Overall, I am very pleased with the camera. Pictures are clear and it is so small it really does fit in my pocket. I take it out on walks or when heading some place with the kids. It works great for landscapes, flowers, sunsets etc. The focus system is great and it has lots of options, so the little bit of portrait and street shooting I have done has been easy. Using it for kids sports, the very fast frame rates makes it easy to "spray and pray" and end up with decent shots. And I am only using the medium setting. Of course, with a camera this size there are limitations. I have used it for photos of soccer and fencing, but the short reach on the lens is limiting. Same with wildlife - good pictures of deer in back yard or birds sitting still, but you can't get birds in flight or a rabbit at distance. The small size also means the controls are close together. Finally, it is not great in darker settings due to the one inch sensor. ISO pushes up high in those settings. The pictures you get in those darker situations are OK for a social media post or Christmas card small pic, but not outstanding. Shooting in RAW and post processing helps some, but it won't replace a much bigger, more expensive multi-lens camera. Despite the limitations, it is way easier to take along and I end up getting a lot more pics from it then from a bigger set up. And as my wife has said, the pictures blow away what we were getting from our Iphones.

What a wonderful camera! I read online reviews on many websites before deciding to buy it. I'm so glad I did! Not much zoom but I got this as a camera to throw in my purse and take along with me. I dont have a smart phone like most everyone else & found that I needed a camera. I did purchase the Sony grip that I highly recommend. It gives me a little bit of security. If you're looking for a small camera with super fast autofocus and great images, consider the sony rx100V!

This camera takes good pictures with one major problem compared to my SONY RX100M2. They lengthened the lens sticking out in front of the camera and then they lowered the height of the pop up flash so that when you need to get up close to what your taking a picture of the lower flash and the longer lens you wind up with a Mustache caused by some of the flash being blocked by the lens. SONY didn't you try the changes from the RX100M2 before putting this camera into production?. What a blunder. Even with this major screw-up I still like the camera.

I’ve been doing photography for years and have thousands of dollars in Canon pro gear. Amazing photos and video quality Thought I would use the 4K video but I don’t it only records for a short time in 4K but if I want it I have it to use Camera build is very durable and well built My only dis like is the dial on top for settings. Every time I pull it out when I’m on the go. It seams like it is on different setting then when I put it away. Not a major dis like but I always have to check before I start using it

First I use this mostly for vlogging so for this it is near perfect. Only gripe is that the mount hole on the bottom makes it impossible to put any type of mounting plate on it because it is directly next to the hinge of the battery door. There is a slight crop when using more than the standard (active and active+) stabilization in 1080p mode. You can only get basic stabilization in 4k but there is no crop which is good. Over heating is definitely an issue when shooting in 4k. Indicator light comes on around the 3 minute mark, and cap limit on 4k shooting is 5 minutes. Battery in 4k is bad too, so get an extra battery or two. Slow motion on this is dope, when used in the lower settings like 240fps or 480fps which looks ok in 1080p. Above that you are entering 480p-like video quality. Low light video quality surprised me for being a 1"sensor! For picture taking, the camera has good dynamic range but I'm not a photographer so don't take my word for it. I come from using the Sony A6300 and bought this for its compactness. Hope this helps!
