I had previously attempted to use an optical to rca converter but it didn't work for me. The only problem with this unit and a 4k tv is it doesn't play my old self made dvds clear so I'm not sure if an up converting dvd player would help or not. Only problem is the new up converting dvd players only have optical audio outputs.
