It can be slow to start because of the upscaling of non HD DVDs to a higher quality. I don’t know that the upscaling is as good as I want (basically just have it be HD) but it improves the quality. Negatives: no pro sided HDMI which is required for the HD quality.

Have to open tray & close it again. Can be annoying. Very sensitive to scratches & will freeze alot if dvd has any scratches or residue on it.
