This is one fabulous deal as it works perfectly, yet is so easy to operate, and I was able to acquire it for the proverbial song -- i.e., high value for low price. Best Buy is definitely the place to go for such things, as not only do they have a great selection, all at excellent prices, but also have most helpful staff. What's not to love?!

Overall, this disc player worked very well, playing dvd & cd with no issues. Remote worked well also ( complete w/batteries).

Very nice small DVD player. Simple setup, easy remote. Purchased it to use in RV. Great picture on LCD TV. Be sure to buy HDMI cable to use with this player.

I bought this for my dad who didn't want to deal with a bluray player that would require software updating in the future. He also wanted something simple that young grandkids could operate. This item was a home run. I connected it to his HDTV with an HDMI, and an old DVD from 2002 looked like a bluray. Great picture, decent remote (buttons are a tad small, but you get used to it fast), very user friendly, simple, and has great sleek styling. Would buy again in a heartbeat. Sony continues to put out great products!

Our Toshiba DVD player for our 2nd TV in the basement broke after 10 years. I wanted an inexpensive replacement. I was going to go with the super-cheap Insignia, but the helpful Best Buy rep explained to me that this Sony includes an HDMI connection and has the HD upconversion functionality. Since it is an HD TV I thought this made sense. After a few weeks' of use, I have some feedback. Overall, the DVD player has been working well. Very easy setup for the machine itself, just plug and play. It is surprising how small it is, about half the size of my old machine. My quibbles are as follows: 1) The remote it comes with is too small and hard to press the buttons. Instead, I programmed my TV remote to turn it on/off. 2) The DVD player does not respond to a remote very well. At first I thought it was the too-small remote, but my TV remote has the same issue. My guess is because the DVD player itself is too small, there is less "surface" area for it to respond to the remote? 3) Programming my TV remote to the DVD player was annoying. For some reason, the instructions did not include the standard Sony codes for universal remotes. I found several online but these didn't seem to work either. I finally used the "manual" process via the remote itself to discover the signal and connect it. What should have taken 2 minutes, took 20. Like I said, some minor quibbles, so overall I recommend this DVD player. While I'm probably putting too much stock in the quality of the "Sony" name, I hope I can get several years of use out of it.

great price, easy to set up, picture looks great! The upconversion definitely helps when going to a 4k TV

Inexpensive. Small...it doesn't take up valuable realestate on my TV stand. Exceptionally simple to connect and play. Does a nice job of enhancing older DVDs that I have. I am delighted with this DVD player. Thanks to the salesman who listened to my needs and then recommended this unit (which he also has at his home).

Perfect sized DVD player for what we wanted. Doesn’t take up a lot of space. Setup was very easy which is fortunate because instructions were poor...more visual with diagrams than text. Comes with cables (multi-colored plugs) but our TV set (new) doesn’t have appropriate plugins to match (however would fit with older sets) but our set has HDMI so bought that cable separately at minimal cost. Overall very pleased. Bought due to reasonable cost and the Sony name. We also didn’t want a blu-ray player so this met our needs.

Have been purchasing Sony products for years, this small dvd player has stood up to my expectations.. My daughter uses it on her dresser, very easy to access, and compact, the remote has many features that also allows you to repeat a disk, or even just part of a scene, which is helpful when a child likes to review a specific chapter or even just a part of it.. Also has the option to continue a movie where you left off, even after powering it down..

Super easy plug and play process!!! Smaller than I realized but superb quality. Great feature is that it has a memory of where you left off, especially helpful when you are watching a box set. As long as you do not remove the dvd, just power it on and it will start right where you left off! it is certainly a great buy!!

Clear picture and works great with old DVD disc. Great for elderly clients that need a simple component.

I bought this to replace a Samsung Blu-Ray player that did not work any more ( would not even turn on !) It was an easy set-up....and it worked the first time I put in a DVD. The 'up conversion ' is a nice surprise.....the picture fills my 42" screen. Since I have a 'smart TV' ...all I needed was a good DVD player and this fits that bill.
