Beautiful white work horse from Sony

At first 1699 seems a lot of money but compared to others native lens on this category this is a steal. If you want the best on this range then the f2.8 is $ 2800 but just one stop difference which isn’t a huge deal breaker because we have a good AI denoise solution that can correct this issue. Lets talk about plus points its light ,small , sharp and takes tele converter with also being a macro lens. I took this lens to hiking and it was like carrying 2 lens in one. It was excellent for landscape with F4 being no issue while taking macro flower at same time. I already sold my heavy f2.8 variant coz that lens is good only for indoor concerts and sports but again AI denoise is so good now that I don’t really need aperture below F4.Also its Auto focus is tad bit faster then f2.8 variant.

Best in class lens
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've owned a lot of lenses like this, and have used even more professionally since the 1980s. This is hands-down my favorite. Not only is it lightning fast, and works perfectly with my Sony A7IV, but it's light and compact. It fits in a very small space. Performance is outstanding, and the OSS (vibration reduction) does a great job. And one of the things that make this such a great lens is that it's a real macro lens. It can hoot at ½ life size throughout the whole zoom range. Color, sharpness, and optical performane is second-to-non.

Best E-mount telephoto lens under $2000

The Sony 70-200mm F4 OSS II has been on my camera since the day I picked up from the store. Its produced high quality images with the sharpness I was expecting. It’s super light compared to other zoom lenses I’ve used, and owned. As a nature and wildlife photographer that likes to hike and go up in elevation , it’s crucial to keep my load as light as possible, and with this lens there’s no compromise, as it delivers beyond my expectations. Looking forward many adventures with it, exploring the world and capturing more amazing images and producing immersing footage for my videos.

Very Sharp!

This lens is very sharp and the autofocus is very fast! With the extra features such as the macro capability you just can't ask for anything more. I really like this lens!

My favorite lens for my Sony a7 IV! Does it all.

Probably cheap for some photographers, but for a hobbyist, it’s a pricey investment. I will say though it has been well worth it. It’s now my favorite lens and stays on my camera most of the time. It’s lightweight, takes sharp photos, works well with the Sony 1.4X teleconverter for added reach, and actually takes very good macro photos. I wasn’t sure if the F4 would be bright enough, but it’s proven to be fine for outdoor photography. I highly recommend this one.

Sharp,lighweight,travel friendly zoom lens
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Been wanting to own this for quite sometime,the first version of the F4 is $500 less but it’s lacking macro and not compatible with teleconverter.So glad that i decided to get this new version of the 70-200mm f4 macro ii,sharp image,lightweight and just amazing lens.I’m just a hobbyist photographer mostly taking wildlife photos especially birds.Overall,if you want a premium zoom Sony lens that won’t break your bank especially if you are not a pro,this is the one to get.Highly recommended.

Very light weight compact zoom

This lens retracts when you are not zooming out so it can fit into most camera bags. The macro capabilities are a big help. The trade off is that with an f4 lens you will not get the bokeh for portraits that a faster lens would provide. For travel, would bring along a mid-range zoom, like a 24-70 f2.8, and or a fast prime lens anywhere from 85-135 mm. I had the original model 70-200 f4 and this is a huge improvement in terms of build quality and weight along with macro.

Small, light weight awesome rendering

I decided on this because of the fact that it’s macro capabilities along with only being a stop different. Image quality is excellent. Focus speed id blistering fast and accurate. Only con is the external zoom. But for over a 1k cheaper than the mk 2 gm, great value lens.

A wonderful compliment to my 28-70mm lens

The glass clarity and light-weight design did not disappoint. I look forward to expanding my composition options on adventures as well as capturing family experiences. The telescoping zoom takes some getting used to, but for an amateur photographer like me it is perfectly priced.

The most fun lens I’ve owned in a long time

Construction feels GM. I do wish it had the same soft/firm zoom ring settings that the 24-70 2.8GMII has, but that’s not enough to effect 5 stars.
