I did alot of research prior and all the negatives I read about this lens were not true. At least for my copy. Image quality, focus, and speed where too notch and better than the competition. The only fault I have found in this lens is not its fault at all. But the weight. Hit the gym and youll be fine.

Perfect multi use lens!!!!!

It is my go-to lens on so many occasions, portraits, landscape, and wildlife. At the time I purchased it, the lens was about $2500 because the 2nd generation had been recently released. I’ve experienced zero issues with focus breathing. Some complain of the weight, I’m 6’6” 350, it’s not an issue for me. The images are sharp with great color. The f2.8 produces really creamy portrait background blur. The bokeh is much sweeter than I imagined it would be . I definitely buy this again!

We took this to Japan in the fall and it created so many amazing shots for us. It is a bit heavy and it's BIG! If you're traveling with this, make sure to have some extra space in your bag. Carrying it all day got pretty tiring

G master is a real G from best buy

Once a professional, always a professional

Especially at 2.8 to help with the background blur to create that separation of focal point from the rest. I do recommend this type of lens for the beginner and pro… It does weigh 3 lbs… but when you’re up and moving around etc it’s not too bad. With that being said… if you have joint issues especially from being aged… this maybe very difficult to use. To give a person a good idea… grab a 5lbs weight ( about the camera plus lens)… carry that 5 lbs weight around and pretend it’s your camera setup… do that for about 10 minutes… if that’s too much for you… then probably this isn’t the lens for you. I would hate anyone to pay out this cash… just to leave the lens at home because it’s too heavy etc. My only true complaint at this time… slower than i expected to focus on subjects… keep in mind I was at an event and lighting was limited. So I basically blaming it on that and no so much of the equipment… but I did expect faster movement. Two thousand dollars for this lens… I bought it because the years of comments etc. 2.8 of this focal length is impressive. It does work super well in well lit areas. But areas of limited light it does “meet” my needs and pretty happy. I just can’t shell out another thousand for its upgraded brother. Overall this lens still has a lot of value and I recommend it… I can still guess in the year 2050… this lens will be still used and a favorite.

Love this lens

If you cover sports, racing, or events this is what you need. The focus is sharp and precise with very little focus breathing. Tack sharp lens. I used to have the canon versions and I am happy I made the switch after switching to Sony. Its a solid, heavy lens, constructed out of aluminum. The con would be price and size.

High quality Sony Zoom

The sharpness is amazing and focusing is fast. I did find that the hunts for focus in low light, but all lenses have their own character and none are perfect for everything. I would highly recommend this lens to anyone.

Yes, the size makes your camera a little awkward. Yes, it is expensive. But, it is THE lens to get for your Sony e-mount system. It is the pinnacle of the GM lens line-up. Now, I need to save up for the 50mm GM!!! Buy the 70-200 f/2.8, you won’t be disappointed.

Worth the money

This lens is sharp, fast focus, great manual controls on the lens, and the small lens tripod has come in handy a few times. Cons: A little on the heavy side, especially after holding the lens for a while. Would I recommend this lens? ... absolutely!

Awesome Sports Lens
