Returned to my local store after just one day. The refurbished player won't play my brand new planet earth II 4K HDR discs. The player also frozen up once and I had to unplug it to free it up. Regular blu ray movies played fine. I am disappointed as I assumed the player had been gone through by geek squad. Probably It is not the case with my player. This is the only player I want to have because of the SACD playback.

Got the player last week, it came with a used box but everything was packaged inside perfectly. I had no doubts it was protected during shipping. The player looks brand new. I turned it on and had a really great experience from the beginning. Lots of menus and options to choose from, I love the bluetooth headphone feature, the blu-ray up-scaling is great everything is smooth and nice. At this price you're getting a dang good deal for a really good player. However when it comes to refurb process, be forewarned because I got mine with a DVD already inside it. This may very well be an open box item but hey Sony accepted the product registration for warranty and Bestbuy has a good return policy and I don't plan on returning mine anytime soon, like I said, it looks brand new. Highly recommended.

Just got it on Thursday July 5,double box, with remote no manual. Hook it up to sony 65 4k tv and wow the picture and colors jump out blacks and blues and reds were great.Now like said this refurbish buy it plays will, at the moment I'm looking at the 4K movie Inferno I wish you could see it.I will get a second one soon for the bedroom. Make sure you get the high speed HDMI cable and you will never look back. Thank you Sony for a great product again.My tv is 900 c

The player itself is great. Fantastic picture quality, robust build, and starts up quickly. However, I have to give two stars for the horrible job Best Buy and Geek Squad did with this player. First and foremost: the item I received was not a refurbished product. It was an open box item, already set up by a prior customer, and was missing items (batteries for the remote and all the paperwork/documentation/manuals). It was missing half of the styrofoam inserts inside the box, which meant my player spent a week literally bouncing around inside its own box while UPS drove it around. I would have given this item one star, except for the fact that somehow, miraculously, it still seems to work. I did have some HDMI connection problems but I think that it was limited to the cable I was using (the player itself does not come with a cable, even new). But be warned: this is not a refurbished product. Sony accepted the warranty registration as a new product, and there is no mention of refurbishment anywhere on the box or item (and I've purchased refurbished Sony products before). This is a used, open-box item, that is missing parts. I'm still debating returning this thing because I have zero confidence that it was not damaged in shipping considering it was not boxed up property or securely. Had the price on the new player not been raised after I purchased this, I would return this and just get a new one. This is my first "Geek Squad Refurbished" product, and if this is what they consider acceptable for their products, it will be my last.

Video and audio are great, played Ultradisc, I bought this to play my DVD Audio and SACD disc, which this does just fine, only caveat is that does not decode the audio formats and send an analog signal to RCA jacks, so it relies on my receiver to convert, as my secondary source in my receiver is analog only I can only listen on the mains not the remote speakers. Also as a refurbished item this unit came with a different remote, which has a couple less features. As refurbished model I did see a significant savings.

I ordered this player and it arrived without an HDMI cable. I then called Customer Service, who apologised profusely, and said they will send me a new one with the cable. The new one arrived today and, surprise, surprise, no cable. Plus it has a huge scratch in it and a bent plug. So now, I have two blu ray players that I can't use and will no doubt need to return them at my own inconvenience.

Delivered just a day ago. Got everything hooked up, made sure all the software was up-to-date, got ready to play some CDs and Blu-rays. Would not get all the way through a CD without having to unplug the player and plug it back in because the unit would freeze. Put a regular Blu-ray in and it did the same thing, then put a 4K movie in, same thing again. The player continually freezes regardless of what source is used. The only way to unfreeze it is to unplug it and plug it back in. This is a very well-known defect with this player.

Suppose to b refurbished and would not power up, go figure
