Perfect for gaming at home while the family uses the TV. The device is the perfect add on for the core ps5 gamer who has to share tv with the family or roommates. Big screen, full style controller with rumble and haptics, portable with good battery. The best experience is achieved by ensuring you have a great wifi router (don’t use the ones that come with your ISP, get a high quality router/mesh network) and your ps5 plugged in via Ethernet. This is will
Ensure minimal lag across your home.
It’s becoming my favorite way to play. Wife loves that I can play in the bedroom while she sleeps or watches tv. No negatives this far. Hope they make them in different colors!

i travel a lot for work and it is not always possible to bring the entire console query c me. being able to play playstation exclusives and utilize my playstation 5 while away from home has been an awesome experience. recent updates to this unit has also made it possible to cloud stream the available library that comes included with a PS Plus Premium membership, providing a more consistent quality than remote streaming, also making it so this unit can function as a standalone device without technically needing a PS5 to use, as was the cade prior. i give this unit an 8/10 rating for it's functionality, quality of build, and convenience.

Fits well in my hands, lightweight, good grip, very nice display and graphics, same size of a PS4 controller just cut in half. Add a skin for greater grip and control. Plays really well at home on the internal wifi, plays well when away on a hotel wifi, just don't try to use a phone hot spot unless you don't mind lags in the video and a *massive* drain on your data plan. I tested on my phone with a 10GB data sharing plan and in 10 minutes had half a gig of data used, so the math means 200 minutes, which is about one night's worth of play. Really good value compared to other portable platforms, charges quickly and holds the charge well. Whatever you have on your home console is what you're able to play, even digitally downloaded games.

I love the screen size and controller design. But if it could ve used to stream from video streaming apps it would be amazing. Also add bluetooth so we can use the headphones of our choice. If this also had OLED and a brighter display, i would pay an extra $50 for it.

The Sony handheld device is a plus. Its just a better way to travel without taking the entire game system with you. The size is good too. This is like alien technology. The charge lasts long but you must have good wifi for the best results. Im still learning how to use it so stay tuned for updates.

Great device for remote play. The PlayStation Portal is easy to set up and works smoothly with my PS5. The screen looks great, controls feel just like a DualSense, and it’s perfect for gaming away from the TV. Really convenient and well designed.

Listing the cons first:
- First and foremost, the most important thing, the Wi-Fi signal and input lag. You will always have some form of lag, no matter how good the Wi-Fi signal and your settings are. even though it’s very small, it is still there indeed.
- To pick it back off the first one you cannot play competitive style games online and by that I mean, due to the input lag. Sure, it will work, but I don’t see portal players coming out on top.
- even though the screen is a decent size, the The joy cons are considerably smaller than a PS5 controller giving you less surface area to grip your thumbs. The grip is smaller too.
- The charging port, it’s integrated in the back of the screen and dented into the frame. It makes charging and unplugging with the supplied cable, not challenging, but not as easy.
-you are unable to connect headsets, but the portal does work with the PS buds that came out recently.
Now for the pros:
- The first important pro for me was the amount of fun I had away from my console. Due to the first con, I was at home, but still had plenty of fun around the house.
- It’s battery lasted a good 7 1/2 hours from a full charge. Brightness and volume were up so assuming it could last longer if those are taken into consideration.
- My son dropped it from about 3 feet and I was surprised that it did not have any cracks or dents into the screen or frame. So it is somewhat durable.
-it is in fact, fun using it with games that are single player, like God of war, and Spider-Man.
In my opinion, and in this Review I give it Four stars and the reason for that is because the fun I had using this thing. If it wasn’t for that, it would be three stars because the portal is not needed by a true gamer where there is a lot to account for and this system has too many of those cons. But all in all, I still recommend it to those who are curious enough.

I originally bought this because I have some games I like to play handheld, as they are easier to see. I love Stardew Valley, but I always feel like I'm squinting at the TV, and this makes it more enjoyable. I was a little worried about hand pain, as I do have hand and wrist issues, but it's surprisingly comfortable to hold and not too heavy. So I have no problem playing for hours at a time.
You do need to have your PS5 on in order to use remote play, but they do offer an option of cloud gaming with one of the higher PS Plus subscriptions, so you technically wouldn't even need a PS5 at all if you decided to go for that option.
Battery life could be improved, IMO. You get maybe 5 or 6 hours of play on one charge, which could be annoying if you're travelling. Overall, though, it's great.

Been wanting one of these for quite some time and with the new streaming ability it was time to purchase one. It’s a great addition to my gaming needs. The screen produces a gorgeous image. Works great on a WiFi signal. I will add I have not had any luck using my phones hotspot- but other than that I have no complaints.

Does everything that it promises, and nothing that it doesn't. Screen looks good, but is a little small for some games. WiFi connections are not great, and even with WiFi connected, sometimes will not connect to your PS5.

Great decision to purchase this item. I love my Playstation and being able to literally take it on the road with me is great. Works perfect with my cellular hotspot and all my games are available to me. Great graphics and the controllers also feel great.

If you've a PlayStation owner, this is a great addition. With the new firmware update that just recently happened, the update turns the portal into a true handheld gaming device. The 2 thing I don't like is that there is no web browser and it only supports certain Bluetooth earbuds. Sony to be exact. Other than that, I have no regrets in this purchase.

Any review complaining about connectivity or latency issues and all due to an incorrectly configured network. With my PS5 hardwired via ethernet to my modem, and high quality router, and a low number of devices connected to my network’s 5 ghz band, this device is flawless. I love to game, but also don’t want to be cooped up in my office all the time. I can sit in the living room, be around my family, have some background TV on, and pop onto my PS Portal to play some games when we are all winding down. Extremely satisfied with this device. It’s lightweight, nice battery life, and a beautiful screen.

I got tired of always playing my PS5 in front of the TV. This device fixed that. It is solid construction, well balanced, comfortable, lightweight and has a beautiful screen. Battery life is excellent and it comes with the Dual sense/haptic feedback we all love. $200 is a reasonable price (considering a Backbone is $100). I use this device a lot. I do need a hardwired connection before attempting to play it outside the home. Time will tell if the controller gets stick drift. 5 stars for now.

Works like a dream, now I get to actually play my ps5 since my tv is taken over by my 5 year old, and I can take it anywhere with wifi. Waiting for it to link each time is a little annoying but no way a detriment. The graphics are insane!

Now that you are able to stream games directly onto the device, it makes this handheld worth it. This is more of a companion device. Battery life is decent. Great for single player games and not online multiplayer like Call of Duty.

Got this to be able to play the PS5 without taking over the TV. So my wife can watch her shows and I can play while still being in the same room. Picture quality is great and screen size works well for most games I have played. Need good internet for it to work.

The PlayStation Portal is a unique device that aims to bring the full PS5 experience to your hands. It's not a standalone console, but rather a dedicated streaming device that relies on your PS5 for processing power. So, how does it hold up? Let's dive in.
Positives:
Portability: This is the Portal's biggest strength. Playing demanding PS5 games on a large, comfortable screen anywhere in your home or even on the go is a truly liberating experience.
Streaming Performance: Remote Play works surprisingly well, with minimal lag and latency even on strong Wi-Fi connections. The visual quality is impressive, often indistinguishable from playing directly on the PS5.
Controller Integration: The built-in DualSense controller feels fantastic, with all the bells and whistles like haptic feedback and adaptive triggers intact. It's a seamless transition from the standard PS5 controller.
PS Plus and Premium Integration: Accessing your PS Plus and Premium library is easy and convenient, opening up a vast library of games directly from the Portal.
Negatives:
Limited Functionality: The Portal is purely for streaming PS5 games. It can't access other apps, media services, or even basic functions like web browsing. This feels like a missed opportunity for a more versatile device.
Wi-Fi Dependence: Your entire experience hinges on a good internet connection. Even a slight dip in Wi-Fi quality can lead to lag and stuttering, making it impractical for offline use.
Lack of Bluetooth Audio: Surprisingly, the Portal doesn't support Bluetooth headphones, forcing you to use the built-in speakers or a wired headset. This feels like a major oversight for a device focused on portability and convenience.
Price: At $200, the Portal isn't exactly cheap, especially considering its limitations. This might make it a tough sell for casual gamers or those who already own a good tablet or phone for Remote Play.
Overall:
The PlayStation Portal is a technically impressive device that delivers the core PS5 experience on a portable screen. However, its limited functionality, Wi-Fi dependence, and lack of certain features like Bluetooth audio hold it back from being a truly must-have. If you're a dedicated PS5 player who values portability and have a strong internet connection, the Portal is worth considering. But for others, it might be worth waiting for a more versatile and feature-rich iteration in the future.

Far superior experience than backbone which has vastly inferior controller functionality and whose screen is only as large your phone. Portal has a nice large screen, excellent size, ps style controls with smooth controller integration across both sides of the screen, and good battery life. Does require wifi to work although it need not be on the same network. In essence, think of this as the portable version of your Playstation, giving your ps5 similar functionality as a switch/2.
