I wasn't planning on buying the Portal. I saw it was available and bought it. So far it's been great without any issues. The screen size is good and everything works as advertised. I think I will play the PS5 more now that I don't have to sit in front af a TV all of the time.

I get its a remote player and not an actual handheld console. Graphics are great when connected to really good wifi. I bought it too try and game on the go with my mobile hotspot, but even with full service of 5G+ I still had connection issues. Great handheld for gaming at the house when TVs are occupied. All in all its a decent handheld.

It works, I got this so I wouldn’t monopolize the TV, but I don’t really use it as much. It works and flawlessly too, but I am not happy I spent the money. Unless you constantly need to game, it’s a frivolous expense

I picked up a Portal on a whim ahead of a business trip and was pleasantly surprised by it. The best way to think of it is it's not as a stand alone console but rather a two-way streaming device of your PS5. It does take a little getting used to, especially if you're playing a live service game. But as long as you have at least an 15 Mbps connection you should be fine.
One major downside is it can be tricky to connect. Connecting to a network that uses a captive portal/login page can be difficult as it doesn't have a built-in browser. Using a travel router or hotspot is probably the best way to go to avoid this problem.

Yes, you're dependent on PS remote keeping a connection, but that isn't the fault of the controller. The controller itself has hours of enjoyment on a single charge if you can't use your TV.
The only downside is the headphone selection you can use. You can't use regular bluetooth headphones or earbuds. You can either use the Sony PULSE devices that pair up easily, or connect a headphone jack wire.

I do like the PlayStation Portal. My purpose of using it was to play wherever I wanted in the house. It accomplishes that. I use this quite a lot because of the convenience of not being attached to one room. I think it works for most games. However, the analog sticks are not the greatest for first person shooters. The analog sticks are smaller and it moves faster than a regular PS5 analog stick. I would have to slow down the vertical look to a 2 speed in order to aim perfectly. If they put the same analog sticks from the PS5 controller on the portal then it would be much better. Secondly, there are connection issues with remoting into the PlayStation 5 while in different rooms. Thirdly, I wish this was more portable so you can play the PlayStation 5 anywhere you go without having to keep the PlayStation 5 on and remote into it. Overall, I do enjoy it and I do use it a lot while at home.

Really cool and glad I copped one, especially now that I dont really need a PS+ account to use it, I can access all purchsed games in my library. Amazing and really dope handheld and perfext companion to the PS5.

Does exactly what it says it does! You can play anyhwhere with Wifi or just connect to your phone’s hotspot! Looks sleek, great picture and isn’t a hard adjustment from your big screen. I’m obsessed! Ignore the negative reviews and try it out if you can get your hands on one!

For what it is, it's quite a nice little device. Sure, you can only stream games from your PS5 to it, but as long as you have a good Internet connection where you happen to be, you don't HAVE to be at home to use it

I always wanted to get a portal and I'm glad I waited till the black one came out I love it! I can play my games while the rest of the family uses the tv. It also works well if you're not at home all only thing which is really needed is an internet connection and the better it is the better the performance of course. The price is the same as the white but I did get mine price matched so I got it at a great deal.

I was skeptical of this device given my remote play experience on other devices has not been great, in most cases unplayable. Somehow, this device works much better, though not perfect. With my PS5 wired-in I can keep a stable connection while playing FF7:Rebirth. Strangely framerate seems perfect in battles, small areas, and cutscenes. For whatever reason in the field I see regular frame skips or however you want to refer to it (lag?). The device seems best suited to RPGs which is what I bought it for. Racing games are unplayable on this, at least with my connection. When it works though, wow FF7Rebirth looks incredible on that screen. And having the real PS5 controller feels much better on this than any other alternative.
