    Buyer Beware Buggy Mess!

I was excited, but I tell you straight, it runs hot, really hot, my friend has exchanged three of them, his issue doesn't resolve. I have LGs Flagship 4K SUHD UHD IPS 4K Quantum HDTV with the correct cables. The PS4 Pro right out of the box won't produce an image on screen. I had to hook it up to my old 1080P LG Flagship and do updates first. I then got an image on a re power up of both. I then turned it off and rebooted it, guess...no image again! It's not LG, it Sony. This was NOT ready for 4K, you can only use the older 2160 display setting and the screen flickers contstantly, like it has a hiccup, then it either disappears or keeps doing that. I considered exchanging it until my friend said same thing. I'm techy, if I can't resolve this, it's going back, 500 for it and the warranty and it's a paper weight right now? Unacceptable! It may be faster, overclocked, etc. but without the right software/firmware....it's junk and right on their website. NO ETA ON KNOWN ISSUES TO BE RECTIFIED. I CANT BELIEVE. THE LAUNCH WAS SO GREAT AND THIS IS SUCH JUNK. THE XBox One S 2TB on the other hand, BOOM! Everything spot on other than a touch of initial start up latency during game load up, which I am sure will be fixed in patches. Sony... get it together, your launch dominated, this is terrible, saying nothing of the fact that it's missing a UHD drive that you have proprietary ownership of. At this rate you will lose all when Scorpio hits. I'm a fan of both, you have a lemon here. Buyers Beware!

Sony did NOT think the Pro through!!

I read reviews and have always been a big Sony supporter, until recently. First off, the Pro is NOT an upgrade to the original. I bought Diablo 3 on the original PS4 and had 0 issues playing it. Then I purchased the Pro, believing I was upgrading & boy was I wrong!! Diablo freezes after about 10 minutes of play. I reported the crashes, every time!! Sony did NOTHING!! I pre-ordered Destiny 2, it is 7/23 & still cannot complete the very first mission of the early access Beta!! Reported it to Bungie & Sony! Guess what? NO response!! It was only when I Googled troubleshooting tips that I found out that the PS4 Pro has issues with Destiny 2 Beta AND Diablo 3 (coincidence that both developers begin with "B"? Hmm)!! I finally had enough of Sony and Bungie throwing up weak solutions in their troubleshooting tips, on their websites. The typical "it's their fault" throwbacks! Bungie even blamed RUSSIA language on system, as a problem!! REALLY!! Guess Bungie is running for the next American Presidency with their blame Russia antics lol! Anyways, Sony lost me as a loyal customer, I bought an XBox One S.....Bye Sony!! Learn to make good products Sony!! Have been able to play everything on Xbox thus far, with no lag or crashes!! DO NOT waste your money on this garbage system!! A NES is an improvement over this system!! Heck, even an Atari is better....so sad!! Would not recommend this system to my WORST enemy!!

6 reasons why to get xbox one s over ps4 pro. Just to mention I do own both systems but if I had to choose one I would go with xbox one s. Here is why. 1 xbox has uhd player built in ps4 not. Considering buying a uhd player cost just as much as a ps4. 2 this holiday xbox one s comes bundled with all 5 halo games for $299.99. More that's $100 cheaper than ps4. 2 xbox live service blows psn out of the water. Psn has too many outages. 3 exclusive games ps4 has uncharted 4 now to me that's the only good exclusive they have. Wait the last of us too but I can play that on ps3. Xbox has gears of war 4, halo 5 and collection, forza, recore and dead rising 3&4 but don't get me wrong ps4 has some good one coming out later on days gone and God of war but this is later not now. 4 xbox play anywhere if u havee a pc some games u buy digitally u can play on xbox one and pc and I only buy once. 5 backwards compatibility some 360 games u can play on xbox one. Not all games but it's still growing. Ps4 has ps4 now where u can play ps3 and ps2 games for 100 a year. That's my reasons to buy xbox one over ps4. If in no rush wait for xbox project Scorpio it will destroy both systems I'm hearing.

A complete swing and miss on Sony’s part not to include a 4k player in the PS4 Pro. The Xbox One S does it for $299. A huge error in my opinion. They’re basically trying to get you to pay $400 for a Roku that plays games! All 4k Tvs already have 4k streaming apps as does stand alone streaming units already on the market that does HDR now and or will with the next release wave coming anytime. The leading manufacturer of 4k Tvs, projectors, UHD discs and a 4k streaming service that they don't even include in their own product! They’re all in on the 4k bandwagon but yet refuse to include a player with the premiere product in their 4k lineup that has the potential to give them the majority of the market share and push the 4k format to the next level which would bring millions of consumers still on the fence to adopt the format exponentially! Not everyone has the internet speed to even push 4k streaming to their homes. Streaming can never match the picture quality of a physical disc. To top it off, they’re adding HDR capabilities to all current PS4’s and to the PS4 Slim disqualifying any need for the more expensive option of the Pro.

I read all the reviews and wanted to give Sony a chance. Man, was this a mistake!! Does not work properly no matter what you do! I have all the latest Sony products (4K HDR Bravia, 4K Sony Amp/Receiver that runs my surround sound) and the PS4 Pro will NOT work properly to get a signal no matter how you have the 4K HDMI cables running. I tired directly to the correct HDMI port on the Receiver...no luck. I tired directly to the correct HDMI port on the TV...no luck. They only way to get a signal is to turn the PS4 Pro on, then unplug the HDMI cord from the back of the unit and then plug it back in every time you want to use. It's dumb. I know how to set up all kinds of Audio/Video stuff. I have been doing this for like 20 years and the technology has changed. I have never been so disappointed in Sony, ever! I am in the process of doing a full erase on the PS4 Pro and heading back to Best Buy to return. DO NOT BUY THIS JUNK of a PRODUCT!!

Not as good as the XBOX

Well lets face facts, it's just not as good as the XBOX. Went and got one as the kids wanted to give it a shot because of a few P.S. exclusives. and it's just not as good. I'm happy to pay the 50 bucks a year for a much better online experience. only thing I'll say is a plus for the P.S. is the exclusive games they have but they aren't that much better. So in summary the games that both platforms run I'll stick with XBOX especially for online gaming. for just a game that does not require online access p.s. is fine. and this is from a family that has both consoles from the first xbox and P.S. all the way up until now. Yes we have had every console. Way to many P.S. fanboys who can't accept the XBOX is just a better platform for online gaming.

Not a good enough upgrade for existing ps4 owners.

So I bought mine yesterday and it crashed while playing call of duty. Yes it looks great but frame rates dip too much and aren't consistent. A lot of websites are warning consumers that games such as skyrim are having frame rates dip into the lower 20s. The console is loud and gets hot rather quickly. Be sure to place in a well ventilated area. If you own a ps4 I can not recommend this console. If you don't have a 4k tv I would advise against buying this since most games will still run at 30fps. I would recommend buying the regular ps4 over this at least until sony can fix all of its bugs and over heating problem.

I upgraded from my PS4 for the 4K feature, if you were thinking of doing the same thing don’t bother. I knew that the PS4 Pro didn’t have a 4K DVD but assumed Sony was making up for that with streaming. In short, they’re not! A search of the PS Store revealed NOT ONE 4K movie available for rent or purchase. The Amazon Prime app is 1080P only. I’m not a Netflix customer but have read that they have one or two 4K shows available. The only thing I could find on it in 4K is YouTube. In short if you own a PS4 or Xbox the PS4 Pro isn’t worth the upgrade.

I have been holding out for this console for the longest time in hope that it would feature a UHD Blu-ray Drive like its competitor, the XBOX One S. I cannot fathom why Sony, who is a leader in 4K technology would leave something so important out. Not only will we miss out on the UHD Blu-rays, but imagine what triple layer 100GB discs could handle for the PS4 Pro! Such a missed opportunity for Sony. People are buying up UHD Blu-rays right and left, and people who want to game and watch 4K movies on the same device, will only have one option. The XBOX One S.

Sony wants to make you watch ads before playing ga

Sony wants to make you watch ads before you play a game. You can't even watch a movie without connecting to the internet. Why I wondered. Its like telemarketers, they use your equipment to throw ads at you. ZERO STARS SONY MY LAST PLAYSTATION. I'm returning mine. P.S. Skyrim won't even play right with out an update. But that did not fix the problem. Bethesda put a deliberate bug (can't get to save menu) in the program so that you would have to download an update to fix it. But the update did not fix the problem either.

The disc drive stopped working on my PS4 Pro about six months after it was purchased. I shipped the PS4 Pro to Sony to have them fix it but they refused to do so without paying $150 first. They said that because the PS4 wasn't working they wouldn't fix it!! Sounds crazy, right? Video game consoles have a history of having problems. Don't buy a PS4 Pro. It is a giant gamble because if something goes wrong, Sony WILL NOT fix it.

I skipped the Xbox One S because it had no ATMOS assuming that Sony would never be so shortsighted as to release a new console without the latest BD tech - a tech THEY invented. So now I have a $9000 4k/UHD Atmos home theater and no consoles that fully support next-gen video and audio. This is a sad day for PlayStation. At least Microsoft can fix their issue with a firmware update. Sony just lost the race before it even started. $400 for half the storage and half the functionality as its main competitor.

I upgraded from a PS4 to the Pro for the 4k it is supposed to have. This is the big scam, the Pro doesn’t have any 4k content. There isn’t any 4k content in the PS store, the Amazon Prime app isn’t 4k, and the DVD drive isn’t capable of playing a 4k disc (knew this part before buying). Sony says the drive isn’t 4k because the content would be delivered online, however they provide no online content.

    No true native 4k gaming

This ps4pro is useless upgrade. It is a 1080p gaming machine that up converts native 1080 to 4k vs using a Ps4 slim then allowing your TV to up convert to 4k. You are achieving the same goal here. The Ps4s have locked frame rates and same graphics. Both have HDR feature with a HDR compatible tv. I don't get it. The slim uses less power and does the same job for $100 less with a Free $59 game.

For the reviewers that say that the physical format is dead, has no clue that blu-ray and ultra blu-ray are still selling. Yes the PlayStation Pro 4 won't have an ultra blu-ray drive, but that's because Sony is releasing a player in the Spring of 2017. Streaming can't measure up to the physical disc in any shape or form. Sorry people the physical format will be around for very long time.

I bought it thinking it must be better than the regular ps4 but it’s not. It’s true that it can occasionally render better picture quality but at a cost of speed. It tends to have problems with games like freezing and so on. I have had a better experience playing on my regular ps4 with no issues.

Why would Sony release a 4K capable console without 4K UHD Blu-ray support. They are on the board for the blu-ray association so it's unfathamble that they don't support a format that they helped create. If you want a gaming machine that supports naitive 4k for games, streaming, and disks just wait for the scorpio, or get an Xbox One S which supports UHD disk right now.

VERY DISAPPOINTING!!! "There is no Ultra HD Blu-ray drive in the new PS4 PRO console, although it will include 4K and HDR apps from Netflix and YouTube." Xbox One S is the only game console with a UHD Blu-ray drive for 4K movie playback Maybe Sony will change their mind and include a Ultra HD Blu-ray drive. I hope so!!! . It is a deal breaker for me

do not buy, known issue that sony is avoiding... after so long of the system being on it will start to power off only last 45 seconds and power off and rinse and repeat no matter what steps you do. when you call sony they will deny the problem, do not waste your money side by side will show the games are not being scaled to 4k native like promised.
