Bought this to use the AM frequency to locate Invisible Fence wire break in the yard. (For this purpose a "transistor" radio is required. This was the closed I could find, though I don't think it is actually a transistor.) The antenna was helpful. The dial is average but smooth enough to finesse zeroing in on the right station. Headphone jack was a must for this purpose and would be appreciated by someone that wanted to use headphones with the radio. Physical quality of the product is a little shoddy which is disappointing to the Sony brand but it was not a big investment so it's what I would have expected from another brand. (If you want to locate an invisible dog fence perimeter break you need an inexpensive 'clutch' to connect to the IF transmitter. There are instructional tutorials online that help learn how to use it for the purpose of finding a wire break.)

I love this little radio . It’s plain and easy to use and comes in handy whenever I need a AM broadcast. I only wish they were louder .

Speaker is loud, battery life is great. The tuner is super touchy, not as good as a digital tuner! For the money it works great, comes in handy while camping!

It’s pretty basic: it’s a radio and does radio stuff. If you want a nice, compact radio in case of emergency or for very basic listening, this one is pretty good. It doesn’t have weatherband, but is great for the price.

I bought this pocket size radio mainly so I could take it into college football games and listen to the broadcast as I watched the game live. Great little radio.

Bought this for my Grandmother to take to the beach with her and it is small and light for her to be able to carry around while she is walking.

THE SONY AM/FM RADIO IS GOOD FOR ITS SMALL PRICE AND THE SOUND QUALITY IS FINE FOR ITS SMALL SPEAKER SIZE. ITS STATION CAPTURE RATIO IS GOOD FOR THE MOST PART BUT I HAVE TO OFTEN RESET MY FAVORITE STATION WHICH IS WEAK IN MY RECEPTION AREA. I WOULD BE HAPPY TO PAY A BIT MORE FOR A STRONGER CAPTURE RADIO. FOR MOST GENERAL PURPOSES IT IS FINE FOR ITS PRICE POINT.

Bought this radio to replace a smaller portable radio. It was larger than I expected, but the sound and reception are great. Unlike the smaller radios, this Sony has a speaker. Reslly like that feature.

Wanted to get an old time transistor radio to use when I am on my scooter. This works perfectly. so glad to have found it at best buy

I like this little radio. I have two, one on my home office desk and one at the work office desk. I have one still in the box as backup. Get one, for the price you can't go wrong.

Bought this for my dads b-day. Ipods etc to advanced for him. he uses it to listen to baseball games and music he said it gets great reception.

I just got this radio yesterday. I used it all afternoon. I love it. The sound is nice a clear. The reception even for AM is great. I'm really glad I got this model. The radio in my car doesn't work. Even in my car I got good reception. Best little radio I've ever had.

Sony's quality is apparent here. This pocket radio has good quality sound for a small speaker. AM sensitivity is excellent. FM tuner sensitivity is good, but not great. Good value for the money.

We have two of these. Reception is very good for the stations we enjoy listening to. One is placed on the window sill in our bathroom for early morning listening while we get ready to take on the day and my husband uses the other one outside when he's weeding, painting, or doing other yard chores. Best of all, they are great to have handy for power outages. We use Energizer Lithium batteries for maximum battery life.

worked pretty well used it at the beach with so many stations it was hard to keep tuned to the station I wanted but it worked for what I was using it for

I bought this for the boat but weve found it so handy that it never made it to the water. We keep it on the 4wheeler and use it for projects around the house. Great sound for little radio.

This is the best am fm portable radio. Good sound.

I bought this AM/FM radio in anticipation to take with me when I go to my first LA Angel baseball game this summer. The AM station plays very clear no static. Very satisfied with my purchase.
