    I'm pretty disappointed with this product. I researched a lot when I was looking to buy a portable, waterproof/dustproof speaker with the ability to connect other speakers - or as Sony calls it, Party Connect. I bought two of these at the end of June for our July 4th party - fully charged both speakers up and set one up on one side of my yard and put the other speaker on the other end (my property is barely 0.4 acres) - they would not stay connected unless they were close to each other, and not only that, my husband had to leave his phone next to the speaker all day so that the music would play which was pretty inconvenient and even still, occasionally the sound would come out fuzzy and tinny at times, and one of us would have to walk over and reconnect both speakers. When the speakers are working as expected, the sound is great... but I'm not happy that I paid almost $600 for two speakers and am already having issues - I expected more out of Sony.

    Very disappointed with the speakers-as I had two speakers (same Brandon model and year, bought the same day. I was sold on them because they were supposed to pair very easily, and could play as a stereo unit however, the pairing and connecting them to Bluetooth was always a challenge, and instead of getting easier and more difficult and after about a month almost didn’t work at all losing Reception from iPhone, 3 feet or less, and sometimes walking in between the speakers in the room seem to make them go out, which seems hard to believe they went out so much the last few days they were not working or not playing as much as they were playing often in the beginning after 10 minutes to pair them each time the sound quality was excellent but everything else is just not worth it, not for $150. There’s just too many options once you’re at that price point, if they work just got a piece it wasn’t worth it in the end because they were completely defective although they worked fine once paired for three or four weeks, but going off and then going on every five seconds is jet better to sit in silent.

    I wanted a single speaker unit with Bluetooth so my guests could stream their music when they visit. The Sony speaker will do this but the sound quality is not up to the level I would expect from Sony or this price point. This is not a Sonos guys. At least it’s rechargeable and portable.

      1- Download the Sony Music Center app and adjust the Sound quality settings and the Equalizer to your preference
      2- Switch the Bluetooth connection to Priority on Sound Quality
      3- Press the MEGA BASS button on the speaker for a real enhanced bass effect
      4- Turn on the Live Sound Effect within the Sony Music Center app, you can go to Settings > Sound > Sound effect > Live Sound

    A terrible, worthless piece of over priced trash ! At the time, I paid $200; it lasted 11 months and then the battery failed to recharge; its terrible design did not allow it to be replaced: Sony's One Year warranty was worthless, they did Nothing to help or address the issue-NEVER BUY Sony Products AGAIN

    Bought without looking at reviews because of Sonys reputation, they’ve always done right by me especially audio products. This was a huge disappointment. Not loud at all, even compared to the wonder boom which is half the size. It has less bass than the wonder boom. Even at a $30 discount, it wasn’t worth it.

      Hi SoeeUnoo, We're sorry to hear about the sound quality issue with this XE200 X-Series Portable Wireless Speaker. We apologize for the inconvenience. The sound may become low in the following cases. This is not a malfunction. When the built-in battery is running low and the CHARGE indicator flashes slowly, while the speaker is being powered by the built-in battery only. When the rechargeable built-in battery is running low as a result of long-time use of the speaker at a loud volume even though the speaker was connected to an AC outlet by a USB AC adaptor (commercially available) or to a computer that comes equipped with a USB charging port. When the ambient temperature of the speaker is high.

      If the sound becomes low while in use, follow the procedure below.
      Turn off the speaker.
      Charge the built-in battery sufficiently.

    Bought 3 weeks later quit charging had to return and couldn't exchange be careful buy the warranty cost me 179.00 to replace

    Unfortunately I am not very happy with my purchase. The speaker is not as loud as it advertised in store- and the battery for it being new does not hold it very long. It certainly do not last 25 hours as it states. We had it fully charged - used it for 5 hours. Turned it off- went to use it 4 days later it was telling us low battery….also the range is not what it’s advertised.. went inside the house with the speaker on porch and it went all cranky and disconnected - I wasn’t even 10 feet away from it. Dont waste your money on this speaker. Not pleased considering the cost I paid for it.

    I'm glad I waited until today to write a review. This thing worked great in Party Mode connecting with an ULT Field 7. Until it took an update. Now the audio cuts in and out. Only when using this mode. Sony dropped the price by $200 recently which prompted the purchase. Shortly afterward they dropped a bunch of new ULT devices. I hope their is no intentional obsoletion at play.

    Says 52 hours of life…. Which is true BUT as the battery lowers so does the sound. If battery is at 60% and you have it all the way up its only playing loud up to 60% which means even though its on max valume its really dim

    Poor design by Sony. The speakers our focused in the center of the speaker. If you sit any where on the sides of the speaker you get distorted sound. If you want it for an outside speaker I would not recommend. The sound struggles to keep the bass and mids together. Very upset with Sony as they normally make great audio equipment. Sounds great instore but trust me once you get it out in real world atmosphere it struggles.

We want to make sure you are getting the most out of your speaker. By downloading the Sony Music Center app, there is a built-in EQ that has 20 points of control for Bass, Midrange, and Treble to tailor-fit the sound quality to your needs and ensure optimal performance with the speaker. You may also find different devices will perform better than others, as will different apps due to different types of audio compression and transmission.

      If the sound is too low or the bass sound can't be heard, check if the Ambient Noise Sensing function is activated. Please note that when the Ambient Noise Sensing function is activated, the speaker detects environmental noises during the music playback. This function will help reduce power consumption and preserve the battery by cutting out bass sounds that will become hard to hear because of the ambient noise.

    Totally unimpressed by Sony. This isn't the quality that Sony is known for at any price range. Furthermore, pairing for stereo sound only works until you move a couple feet away. One speaker will start stuttering. The EQ is terrible.

On the other hand, there are songs that have really low bass sound and barely being heard when played. Raising the volume on both the speaker and source device could help.     Bought this speaker and immediately returned it. Despite getting it on a significant discount, I still found that there were other cheaper speakers with better bass (JBL Charge 5). Very thin sound profile.

    HUGE BIG BUG WITH THIS SPEAKER: When connected to Bluetooth and Wifi @ the same time the speaker is skipping every 1 second Literally. This means if I want to watch a YouTube video which uses "WIFI" and Connect Bluetooth to speaker it will keep skipping or same with when try to watch a movie directly from my Hard drive. Also, the battery life on the version before this one lasted a weeklong fully charged yet this one you would be lucky to get 3 hours out of it. Lastly the sound is not very good compared to the last one which had an additional option button you could press for live sound. They also Marked a big flag on the item in my account says ITEM is UNRETURNABLE

      If the sound skips, we also recommend trying the following steps below:

      1. Check the following:
      Use the device as far away from the following as possible.
      Areas where wireless LAN access points are set up.
      Nearby microwaves in use, TVs, radios, tuners, and other such devices.
      Move the connected Bluetooth® device closer to the speaker.
      Issues may occur if there are walls, people, metal, or other objects that interrupt Bluetooth waves between the speaker and your smartphone or tablet.
      Issues may occur if you are operating apps or accessing the settings screen on your smartphone or tablet. Stop Bluetooth playback when performing these operations.
      When connected to a smartphone or tablet, restart this device before reconnecting to the speaker via the Bluetooth function.
      2.Change the wireless playback quality of the speaker Use the following method to change the wireless playback quality of the speaker to Priority on stable connection.
      3.Check the connection status between the devices

    This was the worst experience I’ve ever had with a retailer the product was in stock however it didn’t arrive on time called and customer services still couldn’t provide any reason for delay of product retailers don’t take this long to ship their orders they don’t treat customers like this
