I love the concept and the "toy". I'm not fond of it being app-driven, altho that does bring some benefits all its own. Being app driven will undoubtedly be cause of end of useful life when Sphero no longer updates the app. However, until then the app can and will undoubtedly be updated. With updates I suspect new features-- such as ability to add more Star Wars movies to the "watch with me" feature. While the droid is awesome and cool, it is flawed by the comoany and its lack of available information. For starters, there is very little information on what version of android is needed, which apparently is now 5.0 and higher. But even with 5.0 you also need the following hardware: Bluetooth le 4.0 Front & rear facing camera Microphone Distinct multitouch landscape touchscreen Hardware sensors inc. gyroscope and acceloratormeter Wifi capabilities. Sphero does not include instructions with their products and are not easily found on their website; which is one of many reasons I am not thrilled with the company itself. Having had to return the item initially due to insufficient capabilities, and reordering after upgrading, I still find the company extremely annoying due to its lack of readily available information. So long as you have all the minimum requirements and all the required hardware, this can be fun; although many say they do lose the "wow" factor after a while. However, as long as they continue updating the app and adding to the functions, I dont see this as a huge problem. Usability: the droid itself is pretty cool. It has movie accurate movement. But because it can roll pretty fast, he can lose his head bumping into cabinets etc. Value: I cant say at full retail this is a great value. If you find a combo deal the value is much better. BB8 is about the size of a baseball and its head about the size of a golf ball. Several years back an interactive voice controlled R2D2 that was much much larger which begs the question why this is so minute and so expensive. Bottom line: there are a lot of things you can do with this droid. It is more than a remote control version, but eventually I suspect this will die a horrible death when the app and/or technology changes/ends. The company which ironically is cool enough to create such a cool product is inadequate with information on how to use their products, which can cause more frustrations than one would or should want.

After reading plenty reviews from several stores and having my son ask for this for over a year, I was not convinced enough to want to spend so much for such a tiny droid. On a recent trip to the Apple Store while waiting to see Santa we were surprised that the Apple geniuses had one of these with the force band rolling around the store, playing with customers. My kids, all five (ages 4-20) fell in love with BB8. Even us parents. He is smart. It knew to avoid things. It's fast and so responsive for such a little guy. I immediately saw Bestbuy's deal when I got home and went back out and got it. Can't wait until Christmas. Thanks Best Buy! $149.99 with a $50 gift card for BB8 and the force band.....sweet!!!

I was very curious about this new Star Wars toy and was very pleased. It comes in a very well built tin that holds BB-8 and accessories. Once you get your droid and wrist band charged then comes a long program upgrading process using your internet phone. An app is added and now comes training your droid. Hand gesturing is used to go through an array of gaining skills and training. Once that is done controlling BB-8 is a bit challenging but over time gets easier. Over all a pretty nifty remote toy.

Gift for Christmas for my son. Loves it, easy to control.

If I could afford all Star Wars paraphernalia I would. It was on sale and came with a 50 dollar Best Buy gift card. Win Win
