Completely different then the other shooters out there. Not too much skill required for the multiplayer but the single player will take you some time to master. It's dumb fun and a great addition to the Switch library

This game is fun. It’s a good introduction to a shooting type game without actual shooting. The characters shoot paint that splats. For a first timer it take awhile to get used to all of the control functions. It has a nice intro at the beginning that guides you through how the game basics work.

Sequel to one of the most original mulitplayer games ever, this one seems to be the same level of fun and creativity. I love the single mode so far, first one had best final boss every so we'll see how this one is.

If you liked the first Splatoon, then you'll love Splatoon 2. And being able to take it with you on the go (and if you're like me, using your mobile data hotspot to play online anywhere you are) is a game changer.

The single player mode is pretty fun, but online is really where it's at. There's a ton of game modes and a bunch of weapons and outfits to unlock for more boosts. There's always something new to try in online.

A fun, cool game that is as entertaining as it is energetic. The eye-popping colors and wide-ranging maps make this game a must have for friends and family. Another fine entry to the Nintendo Switch library.

Whether you're playing competitively, cooperatively, or even single player mode, you'll be sure to have fun. Salmon run and Turf War are the highlights of this game, and even the single player campaign too.

Nintendo Switch is a superb designed console from top to bottom. The Switch is a hybrid console, meaning it can be played on a TV at home or on the go as a handheld. The Joy-Con controllers impressive design make the Switch a veritable Transformer keep them attached to the sides in tablet mode, slide them off and prop up the screen on a table to play one- or two-player games, or dock the Switch in its included charging cradle to play on your big-screen TV. The Switch's primary focus of being a practical home-and-on-the-go console, the Switch definitely nails it. It is perfect for my train commute to work, and it works well on a plane, too. I will be your go-to device.

Splatoon 2 fulfills its promise of being a incredibly fun multiplayer game.
It seems like Nintendo has a winning franchise on their hands, but still fall victim to some of he pitfalls that Nintendo is famous for, such as not providing a way put you and your friends in a party together online. (You can join a friend, but there is a 50/50 chance you'll be on the opposing team.)
This coupled with a few other oversights (which they will hopefully correct in the near future) can't keep this game from being fun. It's gameplay is tuned just right and everything feels incredibly satisfying. Customizing your character is a big part of the fun, and they seem to be pumping out enough outfits to keep us coming back.
The writing in Splatoon 2 is also a great mixture of tongue-in-cheek humor and fun, cheesy jokes.
I would also be remiss if I didn't mention the game's poignant aesthetic. They never stray from the bright, edgy, but not over-the-top, style.
bottom line- even if you were turned off by the seemingly younger crowd look of the first one, give this game a chance. It's a blast.

My sons have been fans of the original Splatoon. It is the one game my wife loves watching them play, but I had no idea there was a sequel until my son said he wanted to get it. I expected the same Splatoon as before, and there is enough of the original to make it familiar to a fan. But they've ratcheted up the challenges so it had plenty of challenges that a new game should have. A sequel should always take you to new levels and challenged even the best players of the original and Splatoon 2 doesn't disappoint. In fact now my wife almost forces my one son to play it every day...when has that ever happened that a parent would want their child to play? Its amazing that way.

Splatoon (and now Splatoon 2) are surprising fun to play, more so than you would initially think. And there's even an expansion for the game that extends the single player experience.

Fills the multiplayer shooter void on the Switch

I wasn't too excited about Splatoon 2 before it came out, as I hadn't played much of the original. While Splatoon 2 is almost a carbon copy of the first game as far as multiplayer goes, I feel like the Switch as a platform is a much better fit for this game. I haven't played much of the singleplayer yet, but the competitive and co-op multiplayer modes I've played have been incredibly addictive. There are some weird oversights with the multiplayer though. You can't join Standard battles with friends as a group, so the chances of you being on the same team as your friends are about 50/50. If you do want to play with your friends in a group, you have to do so alone in a private or league battle. Additionally, if you want to change which weapon or equipment you're using between matches, you have to quit out of your current match. This makes trying new weapons very difficult. That said, I've still had a lot of fun in this game, and those design oversights haven't been enough to detract from the experience, so I've only docked one star.

The original Splatoon on Wii U was a fine game, but was held back by a clunky gamepad. Splatoon 2 has so many control options it's now better than ever to get into this colorful and fun third person shooter.
The main mode of Turf War has you focusing on getting as much ground covered with your ink instead of just shooting opposing players. This gives it a gentler feel than many modern shooters. I find this game to be very family friendly even if it consists of shooting almost non-stop.
There's also loads to unlock, a single player mode, a four player co-op mode...there's so much to this game it will give you something to do for a long time. Highly recommended.

I started out absolutely hating this game. The characters were run and I loved all the color in this game. It had a great concept with the ink and I really got behind the idea of this game. Then it came to playing it. The motion controls (which can be turned off) were very hard for me to understand when I first started. Yes, the motion controls can be turned off, but it still doesn't feel like other stick shooters. I tried for 2 hours to understand the motion controls and they just felt wonky. Everything I read online or watched on Youtube suggested motion controls were the best. I tried it for a few more hours and finally I'm starting to get the hang of it. It's a very fun game. I love the special abilities, shooting ink, and swimming around my enemies. All that said it was hard for me to get behind at the beginning. Now that I'm having an easier time with the controls it's becoming more fun by the minute. This is a great game, however if you aren't used to motion controls be prepared for an awkward learning phase.

I, like most people never owned a Wii U. From what I have read this is not hugely different from that version, but as someone that is completely new to it, this game is thoroughly enjoyable. Note, you must enjoy multiplayer otherwise I am unsure how much this will work for you. It can be frustrating sometimes and it seems that some weapons are practically worthless. I like that the point of the matches between teams is more about filling up more of your 'space' with your ink color than the other team, other than simply trying to shoot the other players. That helps, but if that's all you concentrate on you won't help that much on your team. Great game!

Both single-player and multi-player modes are great, with a new co-op wave based game mode called Salmon Run as well as PVP League mode. Turf Wars along with the original Ranked mode still remain from the first Splatoon. Single-player has been improved upon from the prior game giving it much more replayability. The story is nice but the main difference to single-player is the different weapon choices though the level layouts are still the same which can lead to a stale feeling depending on the player. This game does support the Switch App for smartphones which allows for online communications between players.
