    If you tale credit card payments from card with the chip, you'll need a chip reader square to avoid liability for fraud.

    As the Square readers evolve they are getting better. In the beginning they didn't read well and there were inconsistencies but this one worked as expected. Never failed but you do have to wait a few minutes every time you plug it in for the software to recognize it and then initialize. If you leave it plugged in this is not a problem. Never had a problem reading a chip card. A few misses with a mag scan but this definitely could be user error.
