not as good as i thought it would be

the game is lacking a lot of stuff..i have been waiting years for the next battlefront game... I played the beta and I thought it was alright for being a beta you were limited to what you could do so I was hoping that the full release of the game would be better....eh well its pretty much the same...this game lacks a lot of gameplay and of course EA well release a season pass full of stupid stuff to make the game a little better...the controls are not the greatest....it is nothing like battlefield by the way...I much rather have it like that with large map full of people working together to capture bases but its not really like that....the empire has walkers to fight the rebels and the rebels have some ion cannons to stop them...they have no vehicles...and these holo tokens you pick up to require a special bomb or to get into a tie fighter or x-wing is kinda stupid... I am a big star wars fan and that is the only reason why I got the game but don't expect much it is a unfinished game...I was really hoping it would be like the old battlefront games but I was really disappointed ..... only good thing about this game are the graphics that's about it.....

Beautiful, but gets repetitive rather quickly

It's a dream come true for any Star Wars fan. but there are many shortcomings.
1) Controls while flying:
Ever since the original T.I.E. Fighter and X-Wing games released in the early 90s, Star Wars fans have been waiting for the ultimate SW Universe dog fighting game. This has the graphics, but the game does not allow you to use a joystick or game controller. It forces you to use the mouse as a controller (on the PC version) and the experience is ruined because of it.
2) Limited maps:
There are not enough maps included with the game. I'm sure more will come as DLC, but you'll have to pay for them.
3) Repetitive:
I have not leveled up enough to unlock all the weapons and extras, but from what I have experienced so far, I don't see enough variety in the style and results of each weapon to make them truly unique. This makes game-play somewhat repetitive.
On the other hand, this game has great graphics, even on mid range machines. That allows it to immerse you into the Star Wars Universe better than any game before it. Based on that alone, I'd have to recommend it to any Star Wars fan.

I guess EA can polish a...

First off, the positive notes: this game looks gorgeous and the soundtrack is fantastic. You really do feel immersed in the Star Wars universe. This makes it even easier for the awful gameplay to ruin your love of Star Wars. There's about 10 weapons that all play the same and one hand cannon that is impossible to beat. The hit detection is the worst I've ever seen in a game. There's no way to counter many of the cooldown based weapons, so you'll die a lot without having made any errors. The game's been hacked and there'll be somebody in just about every match with astoundingly good aim or map awareness. You'll routinely spawn into groups of three to five enemy soliders or get sniped before you can even move. I tried to stick with the game and see if my love of the Star Wars universe would win me over but this game is unplayable.
Best Buy also sold this as a download code in a box, so you still have to go through the painful Origin download without getting the better refund policy.

Worst EA/DICE Game Release; Not recommended
Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
I was excited by this release, as I've been a (somewhat reluctant) fan of the Battlefield series since Vietnam and of course, because I'm a Star Wars fan. However, Battlefront has proven to be a massive disappointment.
Neither expecting a game like Battlefield or a direct reboot of the old Battlefront series, I went into this game with open eyes and an open heart. I didn't expect to have my heart broken as bad as I have. This is by far the worst release by EA/Dice to date. And whereas the previous releases have at least shown some support, Battlefront appears to have shut down EA's support group; either due to the shear number of refunds they have had to process, or because they refuse to provide any support for the release as of yet.
The game is rotten with issues, ranging from the simply aggravating to game breaking. The weapons are few and mediocre at best, along with poor design and balancing of each. The sound randomly drops out until you restart the game. The Ultra settings don't seem to do anything at all compared to the lower settings, so doubt those are even activated. The "solo mode" missions stall and glitch out for minutes after you've started them. There are numerous hacks that have been used since release and it's only getting worse. The lobby system they have in place instead of Battlefield's server system is already seeing issues from the lack of player support for the mess of modes available. I could go on.
And of course, I realize that many issues will be fixed eventually, and others may pop up. But I have to take a stance on the issue and say that these issues should have been fixed during EA/Dice's so called "beta". But instead of an actual "beta", where they find and fix issues before the release, they used it to get everyone excited and invested, with the promise that the problem will be fixed before the release.
And now for the pros... the game looks pretty and it's Star Wars. That's about it.
And now let's talk about Best Buy for a moment. I purchase games at a physical store because I support physical media for many reasons I won't bore you with. However, Best Buy's release of this game ended up being nothing more than a digital code for Origin inside a useless plastic case. This was not explicitly stated anywhere on Best Buy's site for preorders, and not even their current box art image was available during the preorder phase. So what the heck, Best Buy? If I wanted to purchase a digital copy, I would have purchased it directly from Origin because they'd actually give me a refund once I found out the game was no where what it should be. However, I'm now stuck with it: Origin states I can't get a refund since I didn't purchase it from them and you state I can't get a refund because I already opened the case. So now I'm stuck with it. Fair enough.
All around, this game has been the single worst purchasing experience I've had. I do not recommend purchasing this game at any cost; but if you really must, don't purchase it from Best Buy.

Game is fine. Uncomprehensible marketing from EA.

BestBuy failed to inform customer the exact specification of the product that they are selling. It’s a norm at this business. Wait! There is a note at the upper-right corner of the box’s photo. “ “. Customer supposed to inspect the product carefully before putting their cash down. So, the responsibility is on the customer. Tell me about the ‘best customer experience’.
But the most incomprehensive marketing is on EA. Why the disc is not included in the box? Cut some production cost and pass the saving to the consumer? Great! If so, why did you make a plastic box with some pieces of paper inside, a colorful front cover, which will eventually end up the land fill. One star knocked down for this incomprehensiveness.
Next, if users just need a code to download the game, please send out the code thru e-mail, that’s all we need to install the game. With the ‘almost empty’ box at retail store and the option ‘Pick up at store’, let imagine on November 17, 2015, how many Star War fan drive to the store to pick up that box. How many cars on the road for that purpose, on the World, in US? One more star knocked down for that ‘senseless’ marketing and the environment unfriendliness.
When I picked up the box at BB, at lunch time on the release date, looking at the box, if not for of my son, I definitely return the purchase at that moment. I hate unnecessary surprise, meaningless, incompetent marketing tactic. But because the boy has been working so hard in school, in exercise for the last semester, I take the game home and reward him with the ‘no-disc game box’. Bravo! Three stars left for you, EA.
Update on December 9, 2015
Battle of Jakku is released and available to everyone with a copy of Battle front. I registered the download code for Battle of Jakku at EAQ web site. They sent me an e-mail states that it will be available from the game menu of Origin. Nope! It’s not there and complains that I try to play a game that I do not own. Searching on web, quite a number of customers have the same issue. So far, EA keeps silent about the problem. No sign of trying to fix it. One more star gone down the drain.

If you like to interact with other players this is a great game. For me it was a complete waste of money. There's no story line so you go there to shoot only... and get shot and killed in less than 30 seconds.
Graphics and gameplay is awesome, but since you have to download and execute it from Origin game service, it really sucks.
Careful!!! these thieves of BB will not accept a return when you buy software, and of course they won't let you know until is too late. So think twice before blowing away 60 something hard earned bucks.

Full price for half a game
Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
Sorry, but this is half a game for full price. If they wanted $30 or $40, that would be fair. Oh, and if you want more content you'll have to shell out another $60 for it, bringing the price to $120.
Frankly the first two installments of Battlefront were better because they were complete, meaning that had single player campaigne modes, something this version lacks (which is why I refuse to refer to it as a complete game).
If all you care about is graphics, then this game is for you. However, if you like things like content and a good campaign, don't bother. Leave it to EA to turn a good franchise into a DLC nightmare where you endlessly spend money to get the game they promised in the first place.
I'm done with Electronic Arts. They continue to leave a bad taste in my mouth, which started with Battlefield 4.

Fun to play in short periods

The game is good for me cause I can only play in short burst, The graphics are amazing and is fun to play, wish there was more of what was from the previous battlefront hope the DLC brings some of that back, there is just alot of content coming later that you have to purchase. I dont like this day and age where they release most of the game and patch the rest later for a price usually totaling over 120$...

Beware. Not a disk. Doesn't work on notebooks.

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
If you buy this, be aware that you a setting yourself up for a 4hr+ download. It doesn't matter that you have a fast internet, it is limited by their server.
Also, this program doesn't run on a notebook. This is a known issue that EA / Origin has ignored so far. It pops up an error box saying that it requires an Intel graphics driver that doesn't exist and then stops at the load screen. Even if you have a discrete graphics card in your notebook, it doesn't work. The screen of your notebook is connected to the Intel graphics and you must have that driver loaded, so the game doesn't work.
Do yourself a favor and find something else to play.

I bought this version vs directly for Origin because I wanted the DVD-ROM. However, the box arrived and it's empty - just a box telling you where to download it. Too late to do anything about it before gifting it for Christmas :(.

You MUST install Origin to download and run this!

Very, very disappointed in BB right now. The description on the item at the BB website says DVD ROM, not digital download requiring Origin. I HATE Origin and would not have bought this game if the product description was accurate. There is no way to return these types of products. Been there, done that. BB just says "How do we know you didn't download the game before you brought it in?" Really angry right now. Yes, I am going to play it, and then immediately uninstall it and Origin once I am done.

Still the best Star Wars battlefield game

For under ten dollars, you can’t beat the fun and depth of this game. Still plenty of people playing multiplayer on this version and the story mode is challenging enough to keep you playing for days. Plus the graphics are gorgeous. Wait till the new version comes down in price and enjoy this one now. You won’t be sorry!

The Force is not strong with this one

I will state up front that I am not a gamer. Before buying Battlefronts I & II years ago, my previous gaming experience was with the Atari 2600. I was really looking forward to this game and was fully expecting to have a similar experience to the first two games. This includes expecting to get a physical disc. I was not at all happy when I got home and discovered that there was no disc and that I had to download it from EA. A previous reviewer said it took him four hours. Mine took from Friday evening to mid-day Sunday and, no, I am not on dial-up. When the download finally finished, the excitement I had to finally play was dashed when I received a notice saying my computer could not play the stinkin game because of an Intel driver issue. Since, as I previously stated, I am not a hardcore gamer, I have no idea of this is a common thing with today's games. What I do know is that I am out $60, that I wasted almost forty hours downloading a game I cannot play and my hatred for this non-physical cloud BS has been reinforced.

Can't run on laptop

Bought this for Christmas but we are not able to run the game on a laptop computer because it does not have a "gaming" video driver. The laptop is only a year old. They should put a disclaimer on the package. Simply listing a bunch of video driver requirements doesn't cut it for non-gaming folks like me. I figured I have a new computer, this should run it. MAJOR disappointment!!!
