    I had tried connecting my 4K monitor to my MacBook Pro (Early 2015 13-inch with Retina display) using an HDMI cable but it was inconsistent in performance: both my laptop screen and the external display would often flash back and forth, and sometimes never settle into a good connection. But this StarTech Display Port to Mini-Display Port cable has worked flawlessly -- and it was cheaper than most HDMI cables, too!
