I was a bit scared when my external hard drive couldn't be read with the 3rd party sata adapter I brought, I thought my drive was damaged. I eventually learned and realized that it may be the adapter that's not working correctly, so I brought this adapter because it was the same brand of SATA adapter which I used years ago and had super success with. And like clockwork, the SATA adapter worked like a charm, my drive wasn't broken! The adapter is truly plug and play, I didn't need to download any drivers nor software, I just connected the SATA to the adapter and the drive began to sing, instantly, I had access to my SATA files! Thanks so much for reading my review!

This little cable was essentially used to connect two drives for cloning. The USB plugs into the USB port on your PC or laptop. The other end is a SATA connector that is connected to another harddrive or Solid State Drive as long as they are SATA. The only limitation for performance are the drives and the USB drive. It is not uncommon for computers to have a mix of USB versions. Be sure to select the newest USB version that you have. For me that was a USB 3.0 port on my ASUS laptop. Of course you'll need a specialized app to complete a true cloning. Other than that, other geeky stuff like partioning or simply saving a backup can be done with this cable using features within Windows. Its a great little cable with multiple functions.

Used with various old laptop HDD's and now leave plugged into a 2.5in ssd for my Raspberry Pi. It has correctly recognized the drives plugged into it and I've had no issues with speed since it's USAP support works. Note that its cheaper since it's just the adapter no enclosure, so remember to leave it alone when plugged in.

Needed this to get into some SATA powered Harddrives. Works perfectly and plugs into them with no problem. Had no issues transferring files back and forth from my laptop. I recommend getting this if you have more than one HDD lying around. Super convenient.

Very fast for what I needed it for. I used it to change two laptops to SSD. Both 500 GB and 1TB were cloned without any problems. This is the same cable that the Geeksquad uses to swap out your hard drive in the store.

spruced up an old laptop I bought back in 2013 ( Acer Aspire One A0756 ) the SSD I bought didn't come with a cord so I had to purchase one ( wish some internal SSD's came with the cords, I think I remember they use to )

Great adapter with linux support. Haven't experienced any issues running on a Raspberry Pi 4. Definitely takes some work to enable TRIM, but as far as I'm aware, that's the Pi's fault, not this cable.

Worked as advertised! I was able to use an internal SSD drive that I’d previously purchased to upgrade a prior laptop but then never got around to the upgrade - so this allowed me to use it to back up my old MBA with TM - which wasn’t working on the external backup drives I had been using previously. Therefore I gave it 5 stars for performing as advertised!
