Buds will not connect to app for sound profiles and other features. Tried everything and customer service at steelseries was not helpful. Im returning these since there seems to be no fix for this in the near future.

Replacing all the old, large, clunky over the ears

SteelSeries - Arctis GameBuds True Wireless earbuds. This is a very nice pair of terrific sounding true wireless earbuds. To me they offer a much-appreciated alternative to the large/bulky over the ear headphones that most gaming headsets are based on. These earbuds are very small, lightweight, and portable, making them ideal for gamers on the go, or if you’re simply not in the mood for the large over-the-ear variety. Travel well in the included charging case and are especially appreciated as a great gaming set that can also be used on the run paired to a smaller mobile device. The sound quality is amazing for their tiny “earbud” size. Design and build quality are top notch as well with a strong, durable feel. Come in black or white to suit your preference and match the rest of your setup. Design and Comfort The earbuds have a clean, attractive look and are very comfortable, even when worn for extended periods of time like gaming or just throughout the day for music or phone use. Their fit remains comfortable and secure even throughout busy activities like running or walking throughout the workday. Come with the typical “small-medium-large” ear tips to fit any size ears, and the included silicone tips are very comfortable when inserted. The accompanying storage/charging case is sleek yet powerful. Offering 3 additional charges in the case and even has a storage nook for the USB dongle which I really appreciate helping to prevent losing it when not in use. Sound Quality Sound quality is top notch for their size, and I feel they get plenty loud when needed. These buds deliver crips clean highs and an impressive bass response for an enjoyable and balanced audio experience. The immersive 360-degree spatial audio technology makes me feel like I’m right in the game. The available app highlights all the available features and allows full customization of many settings. The app can instantly apply custom presets for over 100 PS5 games to give you the most robust listening experience tailored to deliver the best audio experience for each particular game – The way it was designed to be heard. Also great for phone calls and music, eliminating the need to have a different set of headphones for all of the different aspects of my day. These are one and done and I can do anything I want seamlessly with this one pair of small versatile earbuds. I wasn’t sure what to expect but the built in microphone integrated into these buds does a phenomenal job of conveying crystal clear voice without any muffling or volume loss. I don’t have to yell out into space in order for this microphone to pick up my words so that I can a nice conversation without shouting. Active Noise Cancellation Active noise cancellation seems to be the new norm with just about any headphones or earbuds these, but it really works on these. The 4-mic hybrid technology on these earbuds automatically adjusts to your surroundings to eliminate background noises and keep you focused on what matters. This can be appreciated on every aspect from gaming to phone calls. Battery Life and Connectivity Battery life is great. Able to go 10 hours on the earbud batteries themselves and then the case has another 3 full charges to keep you going all weekend even if you forget the charge cable at home. These also support quick switch Bluetooth technology to quickly jump from platform to platform and once again allows me to work from a single pair of earbuds all day without the need for multiple headsets to cover multiple scenarios. Value for cost The cost is not cheap, but I feel these earbuds are priced competitively when compared to similar models from other brands. Overall long session usability and their quick-switch Bluetooth make them well worth it for their ability to handle any listening scenario you may have, all with a single pair of buds. Overall, I have really enjoyed playing with these earbuds and I think they are a great option for hardcore gamers who are ready for a switch from the bulky/heavy/hot alternative of over-the-ear headsets. These do it all in a small package, and they do it all well.

My New Defacto Gaming Audio Experience

I really was not expecting to like gaming earbuds. I assumed that they wouldn’t have great separation, that audio quality would be worse, and that no one would be able to hear me online. I was wrong, the SteelSeries Arctis GameBuds are some of the best gaming headphones I’ve ever used including over the ear headsets. I’m in love with these and I’ve already convinced a friend to buy a pair too. You should too! Where to even start with all the things I like about these. First and foremost, audio across the board is great. Playing COD Black Ops 6 multiplayer, I had clear separation and was able to effectively listen for enemies. Playing Lethal Company with friends, I was regularly complimented on how good my mic sounded. And the noise cancelling effectively helped drown out all the random noises going on in my house. Battery life is great, I went through several long rounds of gaming without running out of juice and whenever I was done I just put the earbuds back in the case and set the case on my wireless charging pad, always ready to go. I found both the bluetooth and especially the 2.4g wireless to function beautifully. My entertainment cabinet is thick so sometimes 2.4g signals struggle to reach me on the couch and I have to leave a cabinet door open. Not here, the door was fully closed and I had no issues. I really can’t say enough about how much I love these earbuds. My one downside is that you have to plug in the headphones/case into a computer and download SteelSeries’ software, in order to update the firmware. The phone app simply says, download the app on your computer to update your firmware. That is a minor quibble though, the headphone are my new go-tos. And they should be yours too! Pros: Excellent audio quality Microphone rivals a full headset with boom mic Great noise cancelling Great battery life Handy case Strong 2.4g signal Comfortable Useful case Wireless charging Cons: Updating the firmware is a pain

I use the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless and the SteelSeries Alias Pro XLR for my primary gaming PC, and for good reason, as they are simply the best headset and microphone that I have used. However, neither is portable and earbuds are so much easier to travel with. So with that I was very excited to try the new Arctis GameBuds. Inside the box are the two earbuds, a 2.4Ghz USB-C dongle and a charging case which supports Qi Wireless charging. Each earbud has a single flat button where the SteelSeries logo is. You can customize the single or double press of each button using the Arctis mobile app. Customizable actions include a mute toggle, volume up or down, ANC/transparency modes; 2.4ghz/Bluetooth toggle, voice assistant, play/pause, next track and previous track. Pressing either button three times will always toggle between 2.4Ghz and Bluetooth audio modes. You can also change these options with the excellent SteelSeries GG software for PC or Mac. If you have a Windows PC, I highly recommend installing their Sonar app, which for me is the best audio application I have found for gaming. I was hoping the Arctis Gamebuds would give me an excellent audio experience and so far, they do not disappoint. The sound quality is superb and if it’s not exactly to your liking you can tweak the EQ with over 100 presets for almost all the most popular games such as Fortnite, Forza, Elden Ring, League of Legends, and Minecraft. If you want to create your own custom EQ profile, unfortunately you can’t do that in the mobile app. You’ll need to use the Engine software in SteelSeries GG on PC or Mac to do so then sync it to the GameBuds. While the GameBuds feature Active Noise Cancelling I’ve found it to be quite weak compared to even other competitor’s earbuds. It does a decent job of minimizing most low frequences but that’s about it. Most of the noise cancelling you do get is passive through only the seal between the eartips and your ear canal. That said, I was still able to use them on a flight last week. I played a few rounds of online competitive games on PC with friends and asked if they noticed any difference since I’m using new earbuds. They said no, but that was with the Sonar software enabled, which features excellent AI-based noise cancellation for your mic. When I turned Sonar off, they told me they could hear the football game I had on the TV in the background. With the AI noise cancellation software enabled they could not tell the difference between my Nova Pro Wireless I usually use and the GameBuds. The best thing I’ve found about these earbuds besides the excellent sound quality is that they are truly multiplatform. Bluetooth connectivity is one thing, and every other earbud or headphone offers it, but 2.4 Ghz wireless allows for higher bandwidth audio with much lower latency. It should be any gamer’s preferred connection method. With the USB-C transmitter it works with any of my gaming PCs, including handhelds like the ROG Ally. It works on my Steam Deck, even though that is running Linux. They work with my Nintendo Switch Lite, PS5, and because I have the Xbox version of the GameBuds, my Xbox One Series X. I even tested them with my Meta Quest Pro. The only thing that won’t work is Xbox if you don’t have the version of Gamebuds that support it. However, since they are the same price, I would suggest getting the Xbox version unless you must have these in white, as the Xbox version does not come in white. The one downside for the Arctis Gamebuds after having used the Arctis Nova Pro Wireless is that you have to manually switch from 2.5Ghz to Bluetooth. The Gamebuds do not automatically switch between the sources as the higher end headsets do. In fact, the Nova Pro Wireless will play from both sources at the same time, something I’ve gotten accustomed to as I can watch a video someone sends me on my phone while still listening to the game audio from my PC. However, it's easy enough to press either earbud just three times to switch audio modes. Pros - Great Sound Quality - Works with Xbox, PS5, PC, Mac, Switch, iOS, Android, Meta Quest - Low Latency 2.4Ghz Wireless and Bluetooth 5.3 - Multiple Sound Modes including ANC and Transparency - Qi Charging - Includes Small, Medium, Large Eartips - IP55 Water and Dust Resistance - Comfortable to Wear In-Ear for Long Periods Cons: - Doesn’t do Bluetooth and 2.4Ghz wireless simultaneously - ANC is not the best Overall – these are excellent earbuds for gaming, music, watching videos, etc, especially on the go, giving you high quality audio for gaming that works with nearly any platform.
