Customers are saying

Customers often highlight the exceptional sound quality, encompassing impressive bass and clear audio detail, as a major pro. Comfort is another frequently praised aspect, although some users found the fit to be a bit snug or the headset too small. While the included GameDAC and its sound customization options receive positive feedback, a shorter-than-ideal cable length and higher price point are recurring criticisms.

This headset sounds great. I like the software and customizations. But in just a little over a a year right after the warranty expires one of the ear cups completely break off. I'm not tough on my stuff and take really good care of it.

I Purchased thes thinking the sou d quality would just be amazing. The fact of the matter is the surround sound for it is terrible and defeats the entire purpose as to why i bought them in the first place which is for gaming. Exchanged for astro a40 tr with mixamp love those.

i’ve seen multiple praises for this headset in particular. i wanted the chat mix since i came from the astro a40 with mixamp. unfortunately these headsets sounded to nasally and it didn’t matter if i tried to tweak it with an equalizer, it just wasn’t up to what i expected, not even up 1 bit. friends couldn’t hear me on the mic even when all windows setting was set properly and seeing the “test” picking up voice, finally figured it out and had to change the gamedac to ps4 mode which renders this useless on pc if you want to use the surround sound features. i am in no way an acoustic master but i couldn’t recommend these for pc enthusiasts.

I got this headset so I had something decent with a mic instead of using a separate mic stand on my desk. the design is...interesting but to get the headphones over my ears I had to pull down far enough to press the metal across the top of my head and cause considerable discomfort and even pain. Not sure why they designed the strap to have such little room for play. Very uncomfortable.

I did not like this headset compared to my Astros. Headset fit was very snug, but it made my ears feel like they were plugged. This is also how the headset sounded, muted like my ears were plugged. Sound was lacking bass and sounded distant. I would not recommend.

I picked up the Arctis Pro + GameDac from Best Buy a couple weeks ago, after months of research and review reading. When I first set these up after buying them, I thought I would be taking them back. The sound was horribly anemic, tinny, and distorted at low volumes. After installing the steelseries software (an absolute must), and adjusting and tweaking the settings, I found the right mix to get them sounding good (really good!). I threw together a quick list of must do's for other purchasers; 1. First go to the SteelSeries website and download/install the SteelSeries engine software, and then install any available firmware updates. 2. Click on Arctis Pro + GameDac under "my gear" and set 7.1 surround to "on". Also select your sound profile, and stereo profile (I used "large room"). 3. Select bass enhancement (I used medium) and dialogue enhancement (I have it on none). 4. Adjust EQ to taste, but move the sliders into + territory for more full bodied sound.. 5. Make sure you go into the DAC audio settings and set gain to high. 6. Go into the Windows sound control panel, select GameDac Game (not GameDac chat). Then go to device properties, then spatial sound. Set spatial sound to Dolby Atmos or Windows Sonic for headphones and apply. 7. If you have the GameDac turned all the way up and it's still really quiet, before you start swearing about $$ spent on bad hardware, adjust the volume control wheel on the left earcup. (Voice of experience on that bit) After doing all of the above, I found the Arctis Pro + GameDac to have rich, full bodied, enjoyable sound, with good, but not overwhelming bass presence. If you don't do the above, they sound horrible, so be sure to install the software and properly set them up. With everything set up, these sound better than any headset I've ever used. Much better than my Razer Kraken Chroma 7.1's that I just retired. Comfort wise these are also a big improvement over the Kraken. The headband on the Kraken would start to dig into, and hurt my scalp after an hour or so of use, and I would have to adjust where it was on my head. The Arctis Pro headband is soft ski goggle type elastic, and doesn't create the pressure point on my scalp that the Kraken did. The ear cups are also larger and don't hit any cartilage pressure points on the ears, and they are soft, comfortable, and don't overheat your ears. Lastly the microphone on the 2nd set is awesome, with crisp clear sound, and no nasally tint, and it does a great job of cancelling out background noise. That is on the 2nd set though. On the first set, the microphone was defective, and sounded like I was gargling mixed with static, and I couldn't understand myself doing a voice recording, let alone anybody else understanding me. The microphone issue on the first set resulted in about 2 hours of trouble shooting, and a 30 mile round trip to BestBuy for a return exchange, hence the 4 stars instead of 5. Value- If you can get these on sale or price matched for $200, they are definitely worth it. I got them for $199 from BestBuy and I think they are worth that price. If full price was the only option though, I'd probably just go with the Pro version without the DAC and save $70.

Bought these to replace my Astro A50’s and was pleasantly surprised by the improved clarity and rich sound these produced, although the bass aspect didn’t seem as deep as my original headset. These come with a very customizable tuner to find the right sweet spot in your games and the lighting effects are stylish. After wearing these for more than a few hours, I can really appreciate the adjustable Velcro band, which provided just the right amount of comfort—and the ear muff material didn’t hurt my ears after long sessions. The cords are all long enough to comfortably sit about 5-8 feet away from your TV. Between this wired headset over its more expensive wireless counterpart, I’d recommend these for not having to worry about battery life in favor of an always wired connection that never loses any sound.

So I originally bought the wireless version but chose to go wired and switched to these because they were suppose to have better sound when wired. They have amazing sound you can hear every aspect of the games you play crisply and individually. The rgb is also a big plus over the wireless for me anyway. You have to download the Steelseries software to fully utilize the sound of this headset so make sure to do that as soon as you get it. Also set the mix to exact middle for loudest sound. For the sale price it is great, and I had to return my first set because of a defect.

Arguably the best gaming headset on the market!

Let me preface this by saying that I have owned my fair share of gaming headsets, as well as dedicated headphones and the Arctis Pro+ GameDAC is my favorite gaming headset by far. It sounds better than the Stealth 700, Astro A50, Sony Platinum and Logitech G933 that I've owned. Build quality - the headset is made of aluminum and utilizes a unique ski goggle suspension system that I've found to be very comfortable for long periods of time. I am a size 7 3/4 fitted hat so I don't have a small head and this headset fit wonderfully. It feels sturdy and has support in the places you need it most. The earcups can also fold flat so you can comfortably wear the headset around your neck as well. The earcups themselves use something Steelseries called "Airweave" and I find it to be very comfy and great at keeping your ears from getting too hot. The material reminds me of something you'd find on athletic clothing and is much better at keeping you cool than leather or velour. There is also some very tasteful & subtle RGB lighting that surrounds the earcups and looks great - much better than the RGB I've seen on other gaming headsets, which is almost always overdone. The included cables are a little on the short side (about 4ft for the headset cable and optical) but they do sell an 8ft extension cable on the company's website. It uses a proprietary USB connection so other USB cables will not fit. The microphone is flexible and retracts into the headset so these actually don't look too bad if you wanted to wear them out of the house. You can definitely get away with wearing these out & about which I can't say about most gaming headsets. They come with a 3.5mm cable as well so you can plug them into your phone, VR, etc. Sound - I'll just say that these sound fantastic! The bass is crisp and punchy, but not exaggerated like a lot of gaming headsets tend to be. The mids and highs are perfect and there is zero distortion, even with the volume all the way up. There is a 10 band EQ on the GameDAC that really lets you fine-tune the sound just as you like it. The frequency range is very wide (10hz-40,000khz) so you can really get some great subbass from these and the range of sounds is much greater than most "gaming" headsets which tend to only have a range of 20-20,000. The Arctis Pro is capable of playing high res audio from services like Tidal so you can get incredible lossless audio that sounds exactly as the artist/director/producer intended. The soundstage is quite broad for closed back headphones and none of the frequencies overpower the other. Some may say that they lack bass but that's most likely because many people are used to overextended and exaggerated bass like you find on a pair of Beats or Turtle Beach headsets. The bass here is very accurate imo and sounds just right. If you want it to be more bass heavy you can always adjust the EQ to the level you enjoy. When playing Red Dead 2 I was in the middle of a thunderstorm and it sounded incredible! The subbass was very well done so that I could really feel that thunder rumbling and lightning cracking. Features - The GameDAC is the real star of the show here, especially for people who are only on PS4 and don't have access to a PC like myself. The Arctis Pro works perfectly out of the box and doesn't require any software, downloads or firmware updates to get the most out of them. The GameDAC allows you to set a custom EQ or choose from a number of presets, with the "smiley" preset being the best imo. You can control everything from the GameDAC, incl customizing the RGB lighting on both the earcups and the mic mute. There is sidetone (aka mic monitoring) as well as the ability to adjust the sound of the game and chat individually so you can turn the chat up a little louder than the game if someone is too quiet or vice versa. There is also some very well done virtual surround sound in the form of DTSx. Unlike other gaming headsets I've used, the DTSx sounds excellent and it doesn't have that hollow sound like you're in a tunnel the way a lot of gaming headsets do. I almost always keep the DTSx on because it really sounds fantastic and adds another layer of immersion to my gaming. You can customize the RGB from a multitude of colors and combinations right from the GameDAC and everything else is very easily controlled from it as well. I can't speak on the Steelseries Engine as I don't have a PC but I've heard mixed things about it so I'll let another reviewer who's more informed in that respect discuss it. Overall I think this headset is fantastic and it sounds significantly better than most other gaming headsets imo. They are extremely comfy to wear for long periods, they don't put pressure on glasses if you happen to wear them and the sound is excellent. I don't use the microphone much but every time I have, everyone has said that I sounded very clear and crisp and there have been no noticeable cuts in the sound or lag.

I went through Alot of different headsets. None of them would get loud enough. Tried wireless and they wouldn't get loud. This one came with a dac which definitely helps. The sound and comfort are perfect. I own the astro a40's for xbox and would say these are pretty similar to the a40's but like the mix amp on this one better because of the digital display. If u need a kick in the volume dept. These are great

I absolutely love this headset. Great sound. It's super easy to tell where people are directionally with this headset. I love the control of the voice or game mix as well as the EQ etc. have had some minor hiccups in game with the voicechat working but it seems more program/windows related with the USB. Restarting the game resolved it one time. Unplugging then plugging them back in resolved it the other time.

So, I'm surprised at the number of glowing reviews for this headset. I know how an individual perceives sound is different person to person, but this headset, it really isn't that great. The highs and mids seemed incredibly muddled, and at the same time too trebly. Bass was whatever, it is a closed back after all. Being a closed back the soundscape was terrible so it's hard to tell where sounds are coming from. And talk about unconformable. If you have a bigger head you're not gonna like these. They squeeze the crap out of you, and barely covered my ears even all the way down. The HQ audio? A gimmick . Seriously, why bother with an audiophile grade feature, with a headset that barely performs? I traded these in for the Astro A40s in one day. That's how badly I disliked them. Thankfully, the A40s blow these cans out of the water in (almost) every way imaginable. The Steelseries do have a better pickup on their mic, but that's it.
