Lightweight, Responsive, RGB Gaming Mouse
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While SteelSeries is not one of my 'go-to' choices for gaming tech, I decided to test out this Rival Gen 2 Wired Gaming Mouse and see if it would exceed my limited expectations. Notable features: This Rival gaming mouse is super lightweight and ultra responsive. It glides smoothly across your mouse pad or gaming mat, while still maintaining precise control. The mesh paracord cable is really flexible, and the scrolling wheel is nice and quiet. You will want to install the SteelSeries GG software on your computer to fully personalize your Rival 3. This gaming mouse is for right-handed people and has 6 programmable buttons, as well as, customizable 3-zone RGB lights on the underside of the mouse. Final Thoughts: Yes, this SteelSeries Rival 3 Gen 2 Wired Gaming Mouse exceeded my expectations. I was pleasantly surprised. It performs well, and fits in my hand comfortably. Inexpensive, yet by no means "cheap." In my opinion, it's a decent mouse for just about anyone, and is more 'entry level' compared to higher-end gaming mice.

The Steel Series Rival 3
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First thing first I'm not a wired mouse type of person but with this mouse I'm very impressed with it even though it's an optical mouse the RGB is all one the bottom of it and actually decent because it does actually show up around the sides from front to back. You will need to download SteelSeries GG from their website which will give you more options /settings for the RGB lighting as well as other things for the mouse. Once you have the mouse plugged into a USB port for a few minutes you'll get a popup on your monitor informing you of the new firmware for it which need to be done. The mouse itself is very light weight compared to some that I have used no brand names mentions lol. The software I mentioned even has a list of games that actually have presets for them and the RGB lighting some of which I have played and some that I still play which really caught my eye when I seen two of them. For this mouse to impress me like it has I might even put my trackball type mouse off to the side . I can honestly say this right now I personally have not found any con's with it other than me not being a optical mouse type person and that just me the pros ease of setup the RGB being bright which can be turned down in the software along with the speed and colors also the fact it's lite weight

Works great on my system
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Doing a review on a computer mouse is always difficult. There usually isn't much to say. The average couse buyer just wants buttons that click and a pointer that moves. Gaming mice are different. You need to start looking at scroll rate, accuracy and response time to those clicks. Nothing like missing the shot by microseconds! This SteelSeries - Rival 3 Gen 2 Wired Optical Gaming Mouse seems to check all of those boxes for the hardcore gamer while not sacrificing anything for the normal everyday tasks. Most importantly, the mouse fits comfortably in the hand. Both my right and left hands for you southpaws. The glide across the desk was seemless and worked perfectly on my dark desk surface. There are plenty of buttons to assign and click away, giving you that advantage in the Fortnite type games. Nothing worse than trying to recall which shortcut does what. All-in-all, you really can't go wrong with this mouse. It's a mouse but also fits well in the gaming niche from a company that has been doing this for a while.

Steel Series Rival 3 Gen 2 Wired Optical Mouse
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The optical mouse was easy to connect. The center button changes mouse speed / Dots Per Second (dpi) to suit the scenario needed when playing various games. There is a very smooth and precise control while using the mousepad. What I really like are the buttons are customizable to your preferences. Bright and vibrant RGB lights that are on the bottom side of the mouse that can be changed through the app. The clicks are on the quiet side compared to other gaming mouse that I have used in the past. When holding the mouse, it is very comfortable for the finger tip and claw grips that are needed when playing and maneuvering. Pros: Quick connection Center buttons Customizable to preferences Comfortable grip Lights up Cons: I cannot think of anything at this time. If I do in the future, would update the review. I would definitely recommend this mouse to one of my friends that is into gaming and values my opinion, as they know I test a lot of technology. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to review this product, greatly appreciate it.

Good, basic mouse with 3 stage RGB lighting
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As a PC gamer, my mouse is my interface to the world. Having it be comfortable to hold and move around is essential, not just for gaming, but also to prevent RSI. For a long time, I've had the type of gaming mice that come with extra weights, since the weight added to the stability. The Steelseries Rival 3 Gen 2 is considerably lighter than my current mouse, 77 grams vs 121 grams. It is considerably faster to whip around my mousepad, and I can definitely feel it in my elbow and wrist. The giant PTFE pads help it glide smoothly. There aren't too many bells and whistles on this mouse. The standard left and right buttons, wheel, a button to change DPI settings to adjust sensitivity, and the defacto standard two thumb buttons are all present. The wheel does not have built-in side scroll, which is a little disappointing for this excel warrior (fragging spreadsheets pays the bills). I tend to leave my DPI settings alone once I decide on a comfortable level, and the second fastest preset one is pretty good for my tastes, though I did play around with the acceleration and deceleration settings in the Steelseries GG app so that it moved in a more satisfying way to my brain. What would a gaming mouse be without RGB lighting? Steelseries has put a 3-stage lighting scheme covering the bottom of the mouse that is completely customizable. I have mine set up to match the colors on my animated wallpaper. All in all, this was an upgrade from the basic mouse that came with my computer, and a nice change of pace from my usual gaming mouse. I appreciate both the light weight and the lighting, and the smooth movement. The click isn't very loud either, which is great for gaming at night.

Needs More Texture!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have larger hands than most individuals. I wear XXL-sized gloves. So I do realize some products may not be suitable for me than the average person. The SteelSeries Rival 3 Gen 2 wired Gaming Mouse is more than fine. It just didn't fit my needs and liking but that doesn't mean it won't fit yours. I usually use larger or bigger style mice. I just find it more appealing to me. While gaming, my sessions can get intense leaving sweating hands. So having a mouse that is sized correctly and grippy is a pet peeve of mine. Just having some extra grippy texture on the side around the thumb area just adds that extra layer of comfort for me. I've been a fan of an "infinite-scroll wheel" so going away from that is tough for me. I didn't care for the scroll wheel on the Rival 3. The texture on the wheel was great but the functionality I didn't care for. I also didn't care to much for the two side buttons. They just felt off to me. I've used multiple mice with the extra buttons. For some reason these didn't feel right for me. I get the low profile and being minimal. Overall, for function this mouse will be fine for most people. It will achieve the desired outcome for most. For me, it just didn't hit the mark. The mouse lacks any kind of grip or texture for sweaty hands. It is very plain Jane. It felt very tiny in my hands. The two buttons on the side felt off. This mouse will work better for me in an "everyday task" kind of situation! Just not for gaming with me for long periods of time.
