Customers are saying

Customers are pleased with the Rival 300's comfort, RGB lighting, and size, citing its excellent responsiveness and accuracy. Many appreciate the mouse's weight and the ease of use of its software, along with its reasonable price. However, some users noted that the cable could be improved, and a few expressed minor concerns about the buttons and scroll wheel. Overall, the positive feedback on the Rival 300's performance and features outweighs the relatively few negative comments.

    Great Mouse!

This mouse is a great gaming mouse. The software it comes with is pretty good, but lacks some integration features with your phone like Logitech's ARX Control. The mouse has 6 buttons as follows: *Left Mouse Button *Right Mouse Button *Middle Mouse Button *Top Mouse Button *Forward side button *Back side button Mouse Physical Properties: The mouse feeling is a smooth rubberized paint on the top. The sides have a rubberized paint with circles to give you a firm grip of the mouse. The mouse is light weight. The USB Cable is not sleeved so it might get worn on the edge of the desk going down to the computer if your system is setup that way. -The stroke of the left mouse button and right mouse button are pretty short which is perfect for FPS and any game in general where a fast reaction time is necessary. -The scroll wheel has a rubberized feedback as you scroll with it. I'm not a huge fan of it because it feels a little sloppy; however I've gotten used to it and it doesn't make the infamous loud scroll sound that makes you want to punch your co-worker in the face. -The side buttons have a deep stroke which prevents accidental button presses when bumping into the side of your keyboard or grabbing your mouse. I hate when that happens because sometimes my macros are up to 30 seconds long an I have to wait-out for it to finish. -The scroll wheel also does not tilt which prevents you from scrolling left or scrolling right when trying to throw a grenade or anything else you bind to the Middle Mouse Button. (this is a welcome feature since I use the middle mouse button to Pan through drawings when I work from home) Mouse Software: The software for the mouse is called SteelSeries Engine 3. It is very user friendly and the user interface, or UI, is much better than others out there for someone who wants to just install it and make their changes quickly, without needing a manual or tutorials to explain what to do. You can make game specific profiles, Macro's, bind keys, set the color of the scroll wheel glow and base logo glow in thousands of combinations. I had never used this piece of software before and I was making changes without any issue. Absolutely stand up job on the software UI Steel Series! The mouse acceleration and deceleration control is the best I've seen with a visual graph. The polling rate can be set from as low as 125 all the way up to 1000. There are two sensitivity settings you can make for this mouse and by default switch between them on the top of your mouse. (useful for switching to scope while sniping and in-vehicle controls). Tons of configurations can be made for game to game binding settings or switching defaults when you feel like changing the mouse lights to the seasons; or even to match new case lights, keyboard lights, etc. The lights can breathe, multi-color breathe, color shift, stay constantly on, or be turned off. The lights on the mouse even have some game features through GameSense that allows the lights on the mouse to Change colors or blink for things such as Ammo reserve in CS:GO, Hunger in Minecraft, Tool durability in Minecraft, etc. Just checkout GameSense on SteelSeries website! Would I buy this mouse again? Yes! Especially for the price.

    Overall Good Mouse

I have been using this for several months now (I do not exactly remember how long.). All that I can say is that it is a very good mouse for the price. This was before I became a Best Buy Member, I just created this account today. The design of the mouse feels very comfortable, and the sides have a decent grip on them. The two forward and back buttons on the right side of the mouse are easy to reach, I have found them useful for web browsing. The CPI button switches between two customizable CPI settings (250 - 6400), I personally don't use this as much unless I am sniping in games. The software seems very easy and simple to use. It allows you to customize six of the buttons on the mouse. The RGB lighting is very subtle in my opinion and has three effect types: steady, breath, and color shift. The lighting is customizable for the wheel and the logo. Something to note is that the cable is not a braiding type of cable unlike other mice, however I usually do not find this to be such a huge issue. Now, the rubber grips on the side of the mouse did wear away after a few weeks of usage. This did not exactly effect the performance in anyway, but the look just bothered me a little bit. Overall, this mouse is a very nice mouse for it's price. The software is simple to use, and the mouse itself feels very nice to use. It maybe different for others, but this was just my personal experience.

I took a chance on this mouse when it was on sale and I'm glad I did. Great laser check, ergonomics check and flexibility are this mouses strong points. The size allows grip styles from claw to palm and the rubber coating gives you a great sweat resistant experience. Though the two side buttons are noticeably suppressed into the housing of the mouse, the large size of these buttons is greatly appreciated. Also the RGB lighting for the logo and scroll wheel is a nice bonus however, I wish the 2 lights could be synced together. At times colors are not coordinated and blinking and or breathing functions are sporadic and unpredictable. I found the weight and the overall performance of this mouse to be exceptional in spite of some minor design flaws. (I own 3)

The Rival is a great mouse, I use it for a wide range of games and it works perfectly. The SteelSeries Engine software is also very easy to configure, whether changing your DPI or changing the color or glow pattern of the light on the mouse. I got this on sale at $31, and it was an absolute steal for sure. The light is a neat feature, but if you find it distracting it is very easy to turn off. Also, the weight of this mouse feels just perfect for me, not to light nor heavy.

This mouse is awesome. Awesome feeling, awesome responsiveness, and awesome company backing it! Steel Series has really made a mouse designed for a user with a little bit bigger hands.. You'll definitely feel a difference here with this one, as it's longer than a traditional mouse at a reasonable price. You can customize the colors on this item as well, with their built in application that you can download with your PC computer, but that's up to you. Two hotkey buttons on the side are nice, I prefer just two or three but that's all pretty subjective. I really like this mouse, great size, and great value. I would definitely recommend this item to anyone looking for a bigger gaming mouse!

This is a very good mouse. The weight is just about where I like it. I have a medium-sized hand for a man, and this mouse feels comfortable. That's actually the main problem with palm mice that are made for one-hand or the other--they have to fit properly. Luckily I was able to get my hand on it in the store before purchasing. I used to have a Razer Diamondback and I purchased this one because it resembles that model, but is lighter. I only have one reservation: upon plugging in the mouse, it "skipped". I was only able to get the skipping problem to go away after using it on a matte mouse mat (I have a generic grey cloth mat, the cheap kind you can get anywhere). You can't use those ultra smooth or reflective mouse mats for this mouse. Other than that problem, I would have given it 5 stars.

I purchased this product for pc gaming (csgo) and i love it the dpi and illumination controls are fairly easy for everyone. Anyone could change the settings on the amazing SteelSeries engine (which they update fairly) Also customer support on twitter is very fast if you need any help. Looked at some reviews on the rival vs. the famous "Razer DeathAdder" and saw some cons on the rival that i was worried about like palm sweat getting stuck on the rival for playing continuous hours but from my experience it goes away and it doesn't effect the mouse or game play. If you guys are interested in how i improved my game play on csgo (read on)... i improved a lot after this purchase i was a gold nova 3 with my previous mouse which was a default hp mouse but a couple weeks after i purchased i got used to the rival and started seeing marvelous improvement in my game play i went from gold nova 3 to distinguished master guardian (DMG) in under a month. For people that care My setting is 450 dpi and 2.33 in game sensitivity. I recommend this product go for the pros not for the cons!

This mouse is amazing for the price. Before this mouse, I used primarily Razer products. When I was on the hunt for a new keyboard that wasn't stupid expensive I landed on the Steel Series Apex and fell in love with it even though it was not a mechanical keyboard which would = slower response time (Not even noticeable). So when I dropped my Razer Naga on the floor and half of the buttons stopped working I decided to make the move to all Steel Series I/O devices. I purchased the Rival mouse and the Siberia v2 headset at the same time for the same price as a replacement Naga would have been. So far all of my Steel Series products not only have provided quick response times, customization in the eye candy department, comfort and control, and an overall satisfactory experience. The only thing I could wish for on the Rival would be a second/third set of side buttons directly below the current set. As it is I already use the two buttons normally, with Ctrl Modifier, with Alt Modifier, and Shift Modifier. As second or third set would open a whole new world of customization. Especially for an MMO player as myself. Doing Arenas in WoW would be slightly easier as well.

Switched from a razer deathadder to this steelseries rival because my hands/fingers were cramping up quite a bit after playing mobas/starcraft. The rival has a longer shape and my somewhat large hands don't get any more cramps playing with the rival. It has a great side grip material, quick sensitivity change button, customizable lighting. Much more comfortable than other gaming mice I have used. 10/10 Would buy again.

Upgraded from my Sidewinder X8 to the Rival 300. Good: Sensor works great All buttons work fine Color illumination is cool The software for the mouse is easy to use but could use a visual upgrade Cheap Bad: The cord is non-braided, and it's also kinda sticky The shape is long which I was looking for with my 20cm hands but it's a little to low profile. Gives my right hands cramps after a couple hours. It tends to spin out in CS GO when you try to turn your character when the mouse isn't flat on the pad. Overall a good mouse. I like it much better than the G502 because of the size, and shapes the G592 has better build quality. I would recommend this, but not over a Deathadder or Zowiez

I'm an avid gamer who's tried many gaming mice over the years. I've never used a mouse hat beat the price/performance ratio of this mouse. I've also never had any issues with the quality of this mouse (like the peeling of the side rubber grip as others have mentioned). Solid tracking, good weight/shape. You can't go wrong with this mouse. I've had expensive Logitech mice which cost three times as much as the Rival that started falling apart within a year. I love how the default DPI settings are 800/1600, easily toggled with the switch under the scroll wheel. I personally use 800. Competitive gaming experience: Started from SC:BW, CS:1.3-1.6, CS:GO, SC2, and nowadays Overwatch. I've achieved master rank or higher in each game, and I'm very competitive... and I can't recommend this mouse enough.

I was looking at some other options when I stumbled on this mouse. I liked the way it felt and looked, was on the fence that it didn't have weights and the cable isn't cloth covered but desided to give it a chance. Has been a good buy so far. Good response time and smooth feel. Only down side is the not being able to set the weight to my liking and the slightly cheap feeling cable. This is why I gave it a 4 not a 5.

This mouse is the perfect size for my hand, as I have a fingertip grip, but it can also fit any other grip type which makes it unique. The mouse is well built and feels better than any other mouse I've used. Very responsive as well. Buy this over the Razer Deathadder and you won't regret it. Anything Steelseries makes is high quality.

This is an all around good mouse, color and programing customizations are great, but I will probably not use all that is there. I bought this mouse to replace a wireless that was giving me some fits. I have had trouble over the years trying to game with wireless mice, so I went back to a wired one. I suggest getting a USB extension if you have a big desk as this cord was a little short for me.

The mouse looks good and feels pretty decent. Tracks well, with a good heft to it. I have an issue with reaching some of the buttons well with my thumb, but I also have small hands. Being able to select any color for the mouse glow is a pretty nifty, but really has no effect with regards to mouse performance. If you are looking for a quick solid game mouse that looks cool, it's a pretty solid buy.

I have giant hands. I use a palm grip most of the time (i.e. when working or browsing the Internet) and switch to a claw grip when gaming. This mouse happily supports both, allowing me to fully engulf the mouse in my paw while leaving just about no part of my palm dragging across the mousepad as it does with most other mice. It also also easily allows me to claw the mouse when I would prefer to do that. Please note, I don't raid in MMOs, and I don't play FPSs competitively. If either of those describes you, this mouse is likely not the right fit. It has a total of TWO programmable buttons outside of the standard right, left, and middle buttons. It also has a DPI switch that lets you toggle between two different DPI setting that can vary by active application. I have yet to touch the fancy (and it is fancy) firmware other than to set the color of the LEDs and set up a couple default DPI profiles. That said, if you have large hands, don't need a whole slew of macro buttons, and don't want to have to choose between a new mouse and your car payment, this one is worth it on the strength of its hardware alone.

I bought this mouse to replace my kana V2. I enjoy the new steelseries Engine and its options for the mouse. I have big hand and it fits perfectly into the hand. With a QCK mousepad the use of the mouse is smooth as butter. If you have small hands this mouse is not for you.
