This three movie set is a nice package of Martin's earlier and sillier work. He is all over the place doing his physical humor in The Jerk. In Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid, Martin uses less physical humor and more narration to carry the story. He also uses the film editors to clip old classic black and white movies into his story. The idea sounds good, but doesn't work that well. In the Lonely Guy he slows down the action and let's his narration carry the story - less visual. Maybe more of his acting ability is shown. There is another three movie set that is available that goes well with this one. Both sets are should haves for Steve Martin lovers. This first set maybe too odd for a person who hasn't followed Martin's career.
