So many people are sleeping on this game and I don't know why. I really like it. I can see if you have a preference of other games, that this is different, but stand alone, it's pretty great. Not all games have to be the same to be fun. I'm new to Story of Seasons as of this year. I bought Mineral Town first and I really liked it. People like to compare games...Stardew Valley was inspired off the old Harvest Moon games. But Idk, I don't like Stardew Valley. It feels dated visually and has too much story. I just want to farm. I enjoy the graphics style of this game. I was scared it was going to be too mobile game-like but it's not at all. It's very cute and bright. There are so many elements of the game you can just start right away, like having a coop, taming other animals, getting a pet, upgrading your house and tools. And everything happens same day, there's no waiting X amount of in game days to get your tools. <-- except for bridges. Bridges you have to wait until the next day. I enjoy the simplicity of the game mechanics, It's easy to figure out what to do. I will say the makers are kind of annoying but they're supposed to make an update soon to fix that; so hopefully it won't be as annoying. A maker only makes one thing at a time and it can go pretty slow. So farming materials is pretty tedious. If you enjoy story heavy games...I don't think this one will tickly your fancy. The characters are pretty surface level and I'm totally okay with that. I don't want to read a bunch of dialogue. So it works for me. But the story that is in the game is not overbearing. It's pretty cute and I like it a lot. It's a fun game to kill time with and I recommend it if you like farm sims.

I originally bought this game digitally, but I couldn't resist the great sale on the physical version. Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town offers a fantastic farming experience with engaging gameplay like crop planting, animal care, and town-building. The farming mechanics are rewarding and relaxing, perfect for players who love simulation games. The art style is charming, and there's plenty of customization for your farm and character. It's a delightful game for casual play, and I'm glad I grabbed it at this discounted price!

As a longtime fan of Harvest Moon (and then Story of Seasons), I was excited to play this game. There's no surprises here, if you're a fan of this type of game, you'll like this one. The gameplay is as expected, a tried-and-true, classic farming RPG. The art is cute, but simple, and the areas to explore are bright and eye-catching. The characters are adorable and unique, but I miss the portraits of each during conversations. There isn't as much expressiveness to them due to this, but they're still cute enough and charming with a bit of their own personality. There's a lot of character customization and you can woo whomever you'd like, none of it tied to a specific gender, which is a huge improvement over past games. The farming is fun, the tool upgrading is exciting and fair, and there's a wide variety of plants and animals (all the animals are adorable!). The farming area is large and there's a lot of different areas to explore and a ton of different recipes and I loved seeing new shops open up in the town, there's always something to look forward to. The in game day is long and I never felt rushed to do all the things I wanted to do. Everything about this game is comforting and I really enjoyed it. There's a ton to do and you'll never be bored!

First off thank you Best Buy for shipping so quickly I received it the day before release! Anyway about the game... Ive played every SoS on the 3DS and most of the harvest moon before that. So when comparing this title to the older ones I feel as though it has fallen a bit short... they have a tedious crafting system that’s been introduced in this title and I can quickly see my farm becoming a industrial zone full of maker machines. Also it really makes dialogue look extremely bland without the character portraits! I miss seeing their expressions when speaking to each townsfolk! I barely even see their face in general unless I walk up to them in the right angle. It’s really sad that they decided not to include the portraits it really does make a difference.

It's a great relaxing game that you can lots grind different materials. I also love the character customization. It's come a long way from GameCube Harvest Moon days. I was able to get lost in this game for days. My only gripe with the game was that weeds/stones will keep growing back on your farm with no way to turn it off.

This is truly an enjoyable game. Basically feels like a mixture or SoS, Stardew Valley, Animal Crossing and My Time at Portia. There is plenty to keep you engaged and I don’t see crafting as a negative, rather it is a good challenge. The graphics take me back to my favorite Harvest Moon game on the GameCube and I enjoy the customizations allowed.

I found Story or Seasons after playing through the newest Harvest Moon title. From festivals and storyline to romance and cutscenes, everything that One World got wrong, this game got right. I especially love being able to level up specific skills as you do them (mining, communication, fishing, etc) to unlock boosts and receive rewards. There is enough to do in the game to keep you playing for a really long time, without it being too much of a grind. I love all of the characters, graphics, and scenery. You get more space on your farm then I’ll ever know what to do with, which is a great change for this type of game. My only complaint is how limited you are with decorating your house. While the feature is nice to have, it’s frustrating only having a limited number of titles to place items. I haven’t found a way to be able to rotate objects either making it more difficult to make your space look good. But other than that, I love everything about this game.

Fun and relaxing game. Same genre as animal crossing but unique enough to be its own series. Based off the old Harvest Moon games from the same developers. Great game!

This is by far the best Story of Seasons game yet. Do not buy the games titled Harvest Moon, because Story of Seasons is the REAL Harvest Moon game! This game fixes all the frustrations of the last one (Friends of Mineral Town), and while this game has some weird things about it (what is with all the makers!?), it is quite addictive and super cute.

I’ve been a fan of Harvest Moon since Animal Parade, so still getting to play the series through Story of Seasons has been nice. It’s been a fun little experience. I wouldn’t say there’s a whole lot of diversity in the map, but the characters have been fun to meet and get to know. You can customize your farm as well, although there’s a lot and it’s almost overwhelming. Overall it’s a good game for anyone who has ever played or likes Harvest Moon, Stardew Valley or Animal Crossing!

If you like Harvest Moon games, then you'll love this one. You take over grandpa's farm. You plant crops, take care of animals that you find or you can buy. Mining will get you ores to upgrade your tools. Find someone to marry and have a child. I like that you can make sprinklers to water your crops which will free you up to do other things. So much fun to play and open new areas. Talk to people and get cut scenes. Some are funny. Help Olive town grow.

The game feels very rushed when I compare against the most recent SOS entry for the Switch, Friends of Mineral Town. Even though FMT is a remake of a previous release, it is a much more charming game that feels well polished. POT however feels sluggish, almost moving backwards with the hoops that you have to jump through to craft items. Pretty disappointing and I hope the development team puts out a patch soon to fix these issues.

The latest in the classic Harvest Moon series, you build your farm from the ground up. Starting with a simple tent and basic tools, you'll soon be tilling soil like a pro, harvesting top-quality crops, and making friends with the denizens of the town. Graphics may leave something to be desired, and you won't be building nearly as much as you would in Minecraft or a similar title, but for a farming sim, it stands up there with the likes of Stardew Valley.
