It's great to have Super Bomberman R come to the PS4. It has classic Bomberman features and new stuff as well. Two quibbles: I don't like how the screen wriggles around a bit in Battle mode and how you do not see the whole map at once in Story mode. These are small things though; most Bomberman fans going back to the NES and PC Engine/TurboGrafx should like this version.

I have been playing Bomberman on the PS3 and decided to give this one a whirl. The characters seem a bit cartoony, but overall the graphics are nicely done. It’s fun being able to choose different characters, a bit different from customizing a character in older versions of this game. I like the story mode option or just playing the classic battle mode, with different battle fields to choose from. One con from the old game is that in this version one is no longer able to quick finish a game if only CPU players are left. That means one must watch them battle it out until one wins or it’s a draw. I miss not having line bombs or deadly bombs in this game, something I greatly enjoyed in the other one. The game has its charm and retains all of the aspects that made the older version fun to play.

As a Bomberman game, it has a diverse roster, many of which with interesting abilities, and a decently fun story campaign. Once you finish the story campaign, however, there's very little to do (especially given the online multiplayer is dead on arrival.) Indeed, it seems the developers intended replay value to come from grinding to purchase multiplayer stages, characters, and hats, but they are so expensive as to be extremely discouraging to strive for as a whole. Something like a mission mode would have been hugely helpful on that front.

I had friends visiting from out of town and spent a long time looking for good couch co-op games for the PS4. They really don’t exist for the PS4. We decided to pick up bomberman and we had a “blast”! Lot of fun and new bomberman characters to unlock. Docked one star since the graphics are a bit dated and the switch version can do 8-player local multiplayer. Still, with the lack of choices for local co-op on PS4, this is one of your best options.

Watch enemy, place bomb, hide around corner, let bomb explode, repeat. repeat. repeat. That's the classic Bomberman formula which is what you'll find here and it works. The story, while more developed than some other entries, it feels the silliest to me and while this game has always been something geared towards younger gamers, the plot and humor seems to reflect that more so. Simple gameplay. It get's challenging later on, but you won't find yourself trying to snap your controller in half because of it's difficulty later on... or will you?

This game is absolutely bonkers. You get to play 4 players at the same time locally and try to run away from each other's blasts until all hilarity ensues. One of the best games ever made just for the bloopers and hijinx. The graphics are cartoony, colorful and fill the intense color pallete of the PS4. And if that weren't enough, the game also has its own storyline mode where you get to play with movie like cutscenes. The best game developer in the world right now, Konami is on a roll with hit after hit.

If you love bomberman, youll love this. Great classic bomberman gameplay. having a blast with this. great price as well.

Awesome update, fun gameplay, and tons of free updates make this a great purchase at a cheap price

The game was originally bare bones when it launched on the switch, but over time they kept updating and tweaking the game releasing more free updates with tons of new content along side fixes. So no matter the console you buy this for you will enjoy yourself with a more complete bomberman experience. The PS4 shiny edition is just a more complete version with some system specific dlc included.

This is a nice multiplayer game, I did wish some of the modes weren't only available in 'team play' since I come from playing the PS1 game constantly and love the various mode for all versus multiplayer such as 'paint' and scores that this lack. Some stages having elevation is a nice feature as it makes the map quite different.

Good game, a lot like the original. Way worth the price.

First off I base my review off of the last installment of Bomberman Live. This one threw me off when they established if they now have their own personalities and that was fine. Gameplay changed enough for me not to like it. When picking up the bomb pick up upgrade you used to be able to cook the bomb before you picked it up. This one won’t allow that which is a literal game changer. Second If you get bombed you have to sit through until the bots finish the match. Not very fun when you have to wait 2-3 minutes per match. Overall it’s decent but don’t expect the old school feel cause you’ll be disappointed.

It’s been a while since I played this game but I enjoyed very much. But I feel when we play against the computer we can NEVER win but I still have fun playing this games. My kids enjoy it even though he bomb himself all the time

Long beloved as one of the greatest multiplayer party games, Bomberman’s classic, simple premise is a perfect match for the PS4's focus on social play. Super Bomberman R holds on tightly to its roots, with entirely familiar controls and gameplay.

This game is amazing. It has everything you want from a classic Bomberman release, and more. I loved playing the original Bomberman games, but this definitely takes the cake. Gameplay is solid, story is great, and graphics are perfect. Love this game.

This is a fun game. If you're an old school gamer and haven't played Bomberman I recommend it. It's unique to the genre and once you get the hang of it it's really a lot of fun.

gotta say was happy when they announced it for the ps4 loved to series a few good upgrades and a few not so good but overall a fun game to play alone or with buddies

This game is pretty good overall. It has a decent story mode with different characters, multiplayer and online. I recommend for any bomberman fan.
