They sent me a sealed empty box with a piece of cardboard in it. I AM DONE WITH BESTBUY. This was supposed to be a physical copy of the game. Not even a download code.

Mario Wonder is a delightful gaming experience that truly captures the essence of classic platformers. While it falls just short of perfection, there's no denying the charm and fun it brings to the screen. Here's why I'm giving it four stars:
Nostalgia Meets Innovation (4/5):
Mario Wonder expertly blends nostalgia with modern gaming innovation. The gameplay mechanics are a seamless transition from the classics, making it feel like a true Mario adventure. The addition of new power-ups and abilities keeps the experience fresh and exciting, breathing new life into the beloved franchise.
Visually Stunning (4/5):
The game's visuals are a sight to behold. The vibrant colors, detailed environments, and character animations are a testament to the effort put into the game's design. Mario Wonder strikes a balance between retro and contemporary graphics, making it visually appealing to gamers of all ages.
Engaging Level Design (4/5):
The level design in Mario Wonder is truly captivating. Each level presents a new challenge and is brimming with secrets waiting to be discovered. The platforming elements are spot-on, offering a fair challenge that keeps you coming back for more. It's a testament to the game's ability to engage players.
Quirky Characters and Soundtrack (4/5):
Mario and his companions remain as charming as ever, and the game's soundtrack is a delightful symphony of tunes that evoke nostalgia. The playful and catchy music adds to the overall enjoyment of the game, making each level feel like a unique adventure.
While Mario Wonder is an absolute blast, it's not without its minor flaws. Occasionally, the controls can feel a tad imprecise, leading to some frustrating moments. Also, a more in-depth storyline could have added an extra layer of immersion.

I've been looking forward to this game for months! I started playing it last night and OH MAN! This game is absolutely gorgeous for starters. It's one of the prettiest games on switch. This is what 2D Mario should be all the time. This game made me laugh out loud so many times. The level design is so much fun, and the detail is incredible. I also LOVE how many characters you can select from. I chose Luigi to start my first run through and I'm so glad i did. My advice to anyone who picks up and plays this game is to take your time. There's so much to see. To sum it up this is a MUST BUY!!! Sure, would i like the difficulty to be a little more challenging? Yes, but that's the only thing and it doesn't really bother me. I've been playing Mario games since Super Mario World. If this is the direction 2D Mario is headed SIGN ME UP!

It's a return to form, of sorts. Reminds me of Super Mario World, to some degree. Lots of fun. The yoshis and Nabbit are a great way to have someone of lower gaming skill play with you. The regular levels are fun and easy to complete, but there are real challenges lying about for someone that is looking for them. The music and animation are great, bosses are what you expect of them in regards to Super Mario World.
The one big issue is the lack of powers. Elephant power isn't great, and I would have liked to see more variety. The Bubble power can be useful, but feels underwhelming. Fireflower is where it's at for this game, which is disappointing to me. However, this doesn't really take away from the game.

Best mario game in years. The badges bring both an interesting flavor and a handicap for people who are struggling. The dolphin kick makes water levels a lot more enjoyable than they used to be. The levels feel fresh and they all have their own cool flavor.
Musically the game has some really good material and it is well-integrated with the game, it is hard not to smile when the piranha plants pop out of the tubes and start singing a song. Graphically, it's got a style to it which feels so fresh coming from the New Super Mario Bros series, and it pops and looks great,

Easily the best Mario platformer in a long, long time. They finally fixed Mario's wonky momentum from New Super Mario Bros, which makes this game feel far, far more precise than those games ever did. There is also plenty of challenge in some levels, which is very nice to see after Mario became gradually easier. This game is oozing with personality, with tight level design and physics to boot, and it's better for it.

To avoid writing a painstakingly thorough review, I'll say that this game, if you'll pardon the pun, is wonderful. Mario and Luigi's new voice actor(s) nail their performances that I forgot the original VA has since retired from his role. Besides that tidbit, it's an excellent 2D platformer for the Mario Bros and friends with plenty of easy and challenging levels, fantastic aesthetics and music, excellent level design, and really tight and responsive controls. My only real gripe is that it's a bit short and felt easy a lot of the times for me as an experienced gamer.

This game, along with many other 2D & 3D Nintendo Platformers, has met and exceeded my expectations for a Super Mario game. This game inspires creativity and has elements never seen before in a Mario adventure before. It is incredibly fun and has a wide range & diversity of characters to choose from. This game was intended to be a little more challenging than previous Mario games, so if your child likes to have an easy-going experience, they will appreciate the game's offering of two new characters; Yoshi (4 variations) and Nabbit, which both are unable to be damaged by enemies and can easily glide through levels, without the frustrations and anger that usually arises from games. The game also has tons of other classics, which include Mario, Luigi, (2) Toads, Daisy, Toadette, and Princess Peach. I really love this game's incorporation of happy and positive elements throughout the levels, and all of the colorful scenery, which I find to be the best aspect of this game. Conclusively, this game is great for families with tons of kiddos -- you can play multi-player with up to four people but will require additional controllers. It supports cooperation, sends positive messages, and has the ability to make the game less challenging for those younger kiddos who are fans, this game is the perfect addition to your household and provides countless hours of entertainment.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder is pure joy from start to finish. The level design is creative and full of surprises, with Wonder Effects that completely shake up gameplay in the best way. Super Mario Bros. Wonder is the best 2D Mario side-scroller since the days of the Super Nintendo. The "wonder" mechanic adds a lot of creativity to the levels, and the new art style is much appreciated after more than 15 years of the same old look. I appreciate that Nintendo made multiplayer in this game less frustrating- players are no longer constantly bouncing off of each other and falling into pits. They even added in playable characters with advantages to help those less experienced in Mario games reach the ending flagpole. What's more, you can unlock and equip badges that grant you an extra ability or attribute that can change how you approach each level. The new power-ups (most notably the elephant flower) aren't as much of a game-changer as they were in previous Mario games, but they still are fun. I also am happy that there are still levels that present a challenge for those who want to venture beyond the shortest path to victory on the excellent world map.

Super Mario Bros Wonder delivers a truly enchanting gaming experience that captivates players from start to finish, regardless of age. Nintendo has once again showcased their mastery in game design, seamlessly blending nostalgia with innovative gameplay.
The game's graphics are a visual feast, combining vibrant colors with charming pixel art that pays homage to the franchise's iconic roots. The attention to detail is impeccable, creating a world that feels both familiar and fresh. The level design is a testament to Nintendo's creativity, offering a perfect balance of challenge and accessibility.
The gameplay mechanics are as responsive as ever, with Mario's signature moves feeling more intuitive than before. The addition of new power-ups and surprises keeps the gameplay dynamic and ensures that players are constantly engaged. Whether navigating through classic landscapes or discovering new, imaginative worlds, the sense of wonder is ever-present.
Super Mario Bros Wonder is not just a game; it's a celebration of gaming history and a testament to the enduring appeal of the Mario franchise. With its magical blend of classic charm and modern innovation, this installment is a must-play for both longtime fans and newcomers alike. Nintendo has once again proven why Mario remains an iconic figure in the world of gaming, delivering a title that lives up to its name – truly wonderful.

So much fun! I play with a 4-5 year old so this game is a little bit harder for her, but it’s still great fun. I preferred Super Mario 3D as a game to play with my kid because I could pick her character up and carry it around through the harder levels. This one, she’s gotta brave through those herself. I’d definitely not get this game for a first timer/younger kid.

Great game. The creativity of the game is at the max here with all new level design ideas and great music tracks. This game really feels like a proper sequel to the original Super Mario Bros. Series with its great originality

Super Mario Bros. Wonder takes the classic 2D Mario platformer and injects some much-needed new ideas to the mix. The Wonder Flowers make every level feel exciting and unique, as they transform the backround, music, and gameplay in unexpected ways. There's a few new power-ups (Elephant, Bubble, and Drill), a badge system that allows you to equip perks, and a bunch of other small changes that enrich the experience. You can also play as several different characters (Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, different colored Toads/Yoshis, and Nabbit)...up to four players at once. The music, while not quite as memorable as past tunes, has an energetic synthesizer vibe that fits the atmosphere. The developers even weren't afraid to mix up the classic sound effects a bit. It's a fresh take on classic 2D Mario, and I approve!

Nintendo made a gem here! My 6yo loves it! The wife loves it! I love it too! Playing together is also great! Online multiplayer saves the day sometimes. Nice gameplay withouth the worry of the clock, not too hard until the special levels. Love the music mix from many previous Nintendo games.

Nice to have a new 2D Mario game after 11 years!
This game is a lot of fun, very clever, unique, fun badges, levels, and the like. About what you'd expect.
3 issues with it, however:
1). It's short. I think I knocked it out in about half the time as Super Mario 3D World, perhaps even less. That includes 100% completion through Special World.
2) It's not really about platforming skill, unlike the earlier 2D Mario games. It's more about the Wonder Flower effects and using them for each level, but the drawback is that the game is not that challenging for "classic" platformers looking for a challenge.
3) Local Coop - maddening. If you are the one who has the "crown", the camera centers on you and that's fine. But if you lose the crown, it goes to someone else, and the camera follows ONLY that player. You're essentially relegated to playing offscreen and hostage to the whatever the crowned player is doing. This is a major change/drawback from New Super Mario Bros U, which simply panned the camera more widely to have all characters still be on screen despite being spaced out.
Overall, a fun and unique entry. I enjoyed it. Probably not my first choice if I'm looking for a challenge, though.
