Creativity
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this for my younger cousin. He mention he was saving up to try and get it so I saw it and knew I would have to get it. When he got It he wouldn’t stop hugging me and thanking me for such an amazing gift. Now the actual game..... This is an amazing game for a developing mind ( cousin is 10) It allows you to actually create the level you want. In a way it allows to express yourself and really indulge with creativity. This game will always be a new game as long as the creativity is there..

Great if you like creating levels
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Mario Maker 2 is feature loaded with everything you could hope for to create your own unique Mario levels. There's really not a lot more you could ask for if you're addicted to 2D Mario platforming. The addition of single-player content for you to work through is excellent, as is the addition of allowing multiplayer in created levels. That being said I just can't give the game five stars. If you don't have the time, patience, or skills to create levels then the experience is lessened. I would recommend this to hardcore Mario fans looking for play as much as possible and to try grueling user created levels. I would recommend this to people who have the time and know-how to create things for themselves. However if you're just a casual 2D Mario fan and you're not interested in the creation tools, go try out New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe instead.

Making video games productive!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great game for building interest in video game design. I bought this for my pre-teen during quarantine to make his video game play time more productive. The game allows to u to design, edit and play your own levels w all of the iconic Mario settings, enemies and power ups via a drag and drop method. The best part is that he and his cousin can share their levels with each other to compete in their builds!

Fun if you're making courses or just playing
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is such an extensive package that you could look at a review from multiple different perspectives. It shines in every way. If you're a creator, the tools here are expansive and complete. Sharing online is a joy and having your friends (or strangers) try to complete your levels is fun. If you're like me and aren't much of a level designer, there's no shortage of fun levels to play, both by Nintendo's staff and other users. This is a must-own for the Switch.

Double the fun!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Super Mario Maker 2 takes everything from the first game to the next level. The possibilities for every level are almost endless when new tools and additional Mario worlds were introduced to the sequel. Story mode adds another quirky adventure to the mix as it gives players an insight on how the developers poured their hearts into creating some interesting levels and more ideas on how their levels can be created. A joy to play and sink many hours into!

Good. just not as good as the original
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Doesn’t feel as special as the original, but still a great level editor and still fun for those who aren’t interested in that side of the game and just want to play other’s creations

A Sequel That Outweighs the Original
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Super Mario Maker 2 adds a ton of extras not seen in the original. From new gameplay modes (Super Mario 3D World) new power ups (fireball Mario) and new modes (Story Mode), Super Mario Maker 2 proves to be a worthy sequel to one of the Wii U's most popular titles. The actual editor isn't as intuitive as the original game, but that is mostly due to the shift of console and controls. If you enjoyed the first Super Mario Maker, you'll love the sequel.

On Super Mario Maker 2
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great game! My children love creating their own levels and they have a lot of fun being creative. The combination of wolds from the oldest to newest Mario is super. You can play "story mode" with the ability to modify the level if you need a boost to pass the level of just for fun. I would certainly recommend this game to anybody, it's really fun and can encourages creativity.

Amazing
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Story levels are great only downside would be the need to have Nintendo online membership which isnt all that bad being 20bdollars for a year. Otherwise the main draw is levels made by others. Not hardcore? Normal endless run is probably the best way to play otherwise youre looking for a challenge. Creative type? You can build your levels although understanding the mechanics of the 5 different level types helps alot

New and nostalgia based joy
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It has been decades since I played a side scrolling Super Mario game and this makes me feel like a kid all over again. Playing levels in the classic Nintendo and Super Nintendo style brings me right back to the 80s and 90s. The classic sounds bring and instant smile to your face. Plus, the chance to build my own levels? Awesome. This game is so much fun for your kids and your inner kid.

Fantastic game for all skill levels!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is the entire reason I bought a Switch. I love watching people stream this game and wanted to try my hand at making levels. The level maker controls can be a little clunky with a controller, but they're not that bad once you get used to them. Overall the maker mode is quite powerful with what you can create. There are several youtube videos that can show you how to create various tricks in your levels (like reusable checkpoints). New in SMM2 is the Story Mode. They did a great job with this. It's a fun introduction to the game that can also help you learn how to do various techniques you may find in user created levels. Playing through the difficulties of user made levels is quite fun and there is something for players of all skill levels! You don't have to be a power gamer, and the game will let you go as far as you can. Nintendo is also regularly adding new content, features, etc. to the game in the form of DLC (Downloadable Content) which has thus far all been free. Overall this game does not disappoint, and was totally worth (IMO) buying a Switch to play. Now I want a Sonic Maker game (hey, I was a Sega kid). Quick Note: This game almost requires online access. While I'm sure some parts of it could be played offline, the main draw of the game (uploading and playing other user created levels) require online access.

Fun for kids and adults
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Super Mario Maker 2 has become a family favorite. It has something for everyone—from new players to veterans of the original 80s game system. It has two modes of play. Story mode provides prebuilt courses to earn coins and unlock new features. Build mode allows you to construct and share your own courses. We recommend starting with the story mode to familiarize yourself with the concept for building, and even cheating. As the courses grow more challenging, you're presented with the ability to make minor modifications. Adding an invincibility star or a well-placed brick can help you win a seemingly impossible course. Once everyone had a firm grasp of the mechanics, it was time to start building our own courses and worlds from scratch. Building has become the preferred mode for most of the kids (ages 6 and up). We're able to create easy courses for the youngest (age 3) to complete and hilariously impossible courses to challenge the adults. It has provided hours of gameplay that seems fresh each time. It has also been a great way for the kids to use their imagination. Sometimes they build freely or we have them draw out their ideas first, like blueprints or storyboards. This game was worth every penny!

perfect!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.this game is so much fun! i have lots of fun with it, challenging myself with all of the different difficulties that you can choose from. My two kids, 10 & 5, also have a ton of fun together or when they play solo. Building courses exercises their creativity and critical thinking plus they have a lot of fun testing out their levels. Excellent game & purchase!

Even better than the forst
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Mario Maker 1 was an incredible experience and I wasn’t sure Nintendo could top it, but I was wrong. They’ve taken the formula from the first entry and have built on it wonderfully. This game has something for everyone whether your focus is to play or create. People create some pretty incredible levels and I’m always surprised just how inventive others can be. Give it a go!

Excellent Level Maker in the Mario Universe!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you like Mario, it's easy to have loads of fun with this game. Making levels is really fun and will test your creativity (if you wanna make a good level). And if you're bad at it like me, don't worry! It's still really entertaining and satisfying going through the levels others have designed--others' creativity in this game is truly impressive. Highly recommended!

Great game for a Mario fan.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Mario maker 2 is quite an improvement from the first installment. Making levels is fun from the simplest to the most complex of designs. I do wish they had gave us more in the way of boss fights this time around but still a a lot of options. Being able to play other players courses online basically gives you an unlimited Mario game. Would recommend to any Mario fan.

Great for Mario Fans
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you're a fan of 2D Mario games, this should definitely be on your wishlist. The single player stuff is fun and I enjoy creating levels, but the real fun is in trying other people's creations. There are a variety of different types and themes for levels and it's a near endless supply of them. Being able to load one up and see how to beat it is really fun.

A massive Mario-verse sandbox of fun
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Super Mario Maker 2 is amazing. There's a world of potential for making your own levels here; lots of items, enemies, locations, and themes to play with. If you haven't tried your hand at making Mario levels before, there's a simple tutorial mode that articulates the mechanics of the game well–it'll inspire you to get creating in no time. Some limitations will keep you from making truly massive levels (this is probably to keep file sizes down for the upload/download process), but with the use of both an overworld/underworld and clever placement of warp portals you can get around it to some degree. There is a campaign mode this time around. It involves rebuilding Princess Peach's castle, and is effectively a showcase of what kind of levels you can create. It's fairly short though (maybe 5-7 hours), so the meat of the game is still concocting your own Mario zones. If you don't have time and patience to devote to the creative process, Super Mario Maker 2 may not be for you. Making quality levels can be challenging if you take it seriously, so younger kids could find this one more frustrating than fun. Or it could be just what they need to get the creative juices flowing...you decide!
