Great remastering of a classic and much wanted revival of the Snes classic. A new fun twist on an old classic with a roster full of beloved characters.

Super Mario RPG on the Nintendo Switch is everything I hoped for and more! As someone who played the original on the SNES, this remake brought back so many great memories — but with stunning updated graphics, improved gameplay mechanics, and a soundtrack that strikes the perfect balance between nostalgia and freshness.
The turn-based combat is smooth and satisfying, especially on the Nintendo Switch OLED — the visuals absolutely pop on the vibrant screen! I played it on both handheld and docked mode, and the experience was seamless. Whether you’re using the regular Switch, Switch Lite, or OLED, the game plays flawlessly and feels like a true love letter to classic RPG fans.
The quirky humor, charming characters, and engaging story make this a must-play for any Mario fan — old or new. It’s family-friendly, replayable, and an absolute joy from start to finish.
If you’re looking for a beautifully crafted, feel-good adventure, Super Mario RPG is worth every coin. Best Buy made the purchase quick and easy, and I couldn’t be happier with my experience!

I believe this was a remake of an older Mario RPG game and it was a blast! The story progression and character development is pretty typical but satisfying. Personally not a big fan of this chibi type art style, but it's cute I guess. You band up with the wonderful Peach, menacing Bowser and a couple new partners who I won't spoil for you. I think where this game really shines is on the core gameplay loop. I found the turn based combat to be pretty similar to original / thousand doors Paper Mario which is nostalgic because there's timing based action inputs to do more damage and block incoming attacks. If you're successful, you can chain combos and stack up stats depending on your party members. It's also recommended to take on plenty of enemy encounters to level your party and buy gear upgrades since its a JRPG. To be honest, there was absolutely no point in this game that I was remotely challenged. But I'm also a 28 year old man playing a nintendo game, so there would be a bigger issue if I was. Overall recommend picking this one up, but it might be worthwhile to wait for a sale. I spent about $4 / hour played which isn't incredible value. Still had fun though!

A modern makeover of a SNES game for the Nintendo Switch. The remake retains the charm and nostalgia of the original while introducing a host of enhancements that make it more accessible and enjoyable for newcomers and longtime fans alike.
One of the most noticeable changes is the overall difficulty level, which has been adjusted to make the game more manageable for a wider audience. While the original Super Mario RPG could be quite challenging, especially in the later stages, the remake provides a more forgiving experience that allows players to progress without getting stuck. This doesn't mean that the game is devoid of challenge, as there are still plenty of tough battles and puzzles to overcome, but it's no longer as punishing as it once was.
In addition to the easier difficulty, the remake also includes a variety of quality-of-life improvements that make the game more user-friendly. These include streamlined menus, improved tutorials, and a helpful hint system. The game's pacing has also been improved, with some of the more tedious elements, such as backtracking, being toned down.
Overall, the Super Mario RPG remake strikes a perfect balance between preserving the original game's essence and introducing modern conveniences that make it more enjoyable for a wider audience. Whether you're a longtime fan revisiting a beloved classic or a newcomer experiencing the game for the first time, the remake is sure to provide hours of fun and adventure.

It's a remake of a previous game of the same name but more nice looking. Giving a story to Mario is valued as Mario isn't known for its story but for its fun. When you combine the two you get this game. We need more Mario Rpg adventures.

I watched my cousins play this game on the Snes when I was a kid, but never played it until now.
The game looks pretty , the music is very good, and the story is basic mario stuff with twists here and there (not in a bad way, Ive played almost every 2D and 3D mario to date).
The game play is fun (*Spoilers* - you are not battling all the time :P) but it gets repetitive after a while (maybe i'm getting old)
I've played all the final fantasy games since 7 and that's my point of reference when comparing turn based RPGs like this one.
Overall a good game but since the story its not the best aspect of this game Im giving it a 4.5

So glad to have finally played this game! I never played the original but the remake is so faithful to the original that it doesn't matter. It was weird having no voice acting or Nintendo grunting for the characters. Left a bit of cringe when there wasn't any dialogue. Nonetheless the gameplay was smooth and still had an old school feel. The action command in combat wasn't bad either. Had some anxiety during fights but that's what makes the game so much better! And, of course, how could I not mention the music? The composer of the Paper Mario series stepped in and did a fantastic job remastering the music. Especially “fight against an armed boss”. She made the song sound like it came straight out of a Mario and Luigi game that'd be made for switch. Thank you, Nintendo. And thank you Best Buy for delivering!
