Very happy with this 35mm. VC works great for video on the Nikon DSLRs and as a stills lens it's sharper, with far less distortion, than the Nikkor 35mm f2 D I've been using for years. Autofocus isn't as 'snappy' as the old screw-focused Nikkor, but it's fast enough. It's ability to focus very closely is a bonus. One small gotcha is that it manual focuses in the wrong direction, and I am in the habit of manual focusing video clips. Oh well, getting used to it. I usually stick with Nikkor lenses, but they don't have a lens comparable to this one (VR in a 35mm prime). No regrets, excellent.

I've used this lens for a wide variety of shots in different lighting both indoor and outdoor. I've had no issues at all with picture quality. Lens performance is spectacular!

The lens is sharp with great contrast. The VC works excellent in low light conditions.

Build quality is top notch. However, I cannot say the same in terms of focus capability. I was unable to get any sharp image from it; it was already on the soft side. I wanted to love the lens because of the build quality, but a lens cannot produce a sharp photo is not a lens that I want to keep, hence I returned it.
