If you want to do your own pool testing, this kit will do the job and do it well. The pH test, like most others, depends upon the tester's judgement in color comparison. One other test, for cyanuric acid level, depends upon judgement, but that is so straightforward as to be a non-issue. All of the other tests give binary indications; the test water will (for example) be blue while adding the test chemical drop by drop and then, with one additional drop, the sample turns clear, or red, or etc.
There is a lot of mixing and measuring involved, so the additional investment in the measuring and mixing devices, making the process very simple and easy, is well worth it if you can swing it. Mixer first (a magnetic stirrer, SpeedStir, with the starter pack), then the measuring device (SampleSizer is what I use, good for the included measuring/mixing tubes, but anything that makes measuring the desired amount of sample water easy(er) is the goal. A simple syringe will work well and is far less expensive).
This kit works well, as it should. The accessories make the process simple and easy. I'm not a seller or the like, just a very satisfied customer, who's actually now looking for replenishment chemicals and thought to leave a review.
