I felt that I needed a bigger TV since I’ve been spending so much time watching it during the COVID quarantine. I had the same panel TV, but the 43” variant. The 55” model has a few different settings comparative to the smaller model. Picture quality is definitely a huge upgrade in comparison to a smaller screen at a 8-9 ft distance. Watching Interstellar in 4K UHD was mind blowing, specifically when the IMAX Film camera shots filled the entirely of the screen. Gaming in 4K with the Xbox One X is beautiful as well with great responsiveness. It was easy to set up, albeit you will need two people to get it out of the box. (I found it safest, at least.) TCL makes this TV just like the others they manufacture, simple to setup and competitive with high end models for hundreds of dollars less. In the long run, I think this TV will match my needs for many years to come.

I am extremely impressed with the quality of this TV, especially for the price. The image quality, color, and contrast are outstanding for a $350 TV. I was completely blown away watching Star Wars Episode 4 in 4k with Dolby vision from the Disney Plus app. I cannot comment on the sound quality because we hooked up our Vizio sound bar right away after setting up. The built-in Roku is super handy and relatively quick. The only downside I could think of is the remote is kind of cheap and you have to aim right at the bottom center of the TV with it. In our case the Soundbar blocks the remote signal so you have to hold the remote way above your head and aim down to select apps and shows when sitting. Other than that phenomenal TV for the price!

We visited Best Buy and took pictures of about 3-4 TVs that we loved before COVID-19 happened. My 14 year old TV stopped working during the stay at home order. We then researched Consumers Reports for the best smart TVs and this one was on the list for 2020. Then we saw that we had taken a picture of this exact one when we had been in Best Buy. Bought it online and it was ready the next day for an extremely organized curbside pickup. It’s much easier to use than the TV we had before. Picture quality is absolutely amazing. And you cannot beat the price. Would buy it again and 100% recommend it to others.

The TCL TV has been excellent. Setup was easy. The picture is great! I have had it for one and a half months and am so glad I made the switch from a 42" TV to a TCL 55". The picture size and the smart TV features are great!

We looked for a TV that suported 4K, could be wall mounted and be between 5- and 6- inch on a budget to replace are 10 year old straightforward TCL TV. This smart TV checked all these boxes and while it;s only been in use for a month, we love it. sufficient HDMI connections, optical out to the AV receiver and HDR works great in combination with fire TV, Cable box is only 1080P but quality is so much better than our old 1080 TV. We will have to see if the quality is the same as the old unit (which is now used in one of the guest rooms) but so far we are very happy as far as price/performance is concerned.

Our Samsung 46" TV finally gave out after 10 yrs. It was a great TV and we were going to get another Samsung because the picture quality was awesome, but the TCLs were getting great reviews wherever I looked. Was originally looking at a 6 series, but got this instead. Picture quality is great, and the built in Roku is very nice. We moved the original Roku box to anther room. The TV works great as a hub between our cable box and DVD player also. No regrets, great purchase. Ironically, I was able to repair the Samsung with a used circuit board after we bought this. Now it is downstairs in my man cave :) If it doesn't last, I'd buy another TCL 5 without hesitation!

I bought this as gift (with my wife) for my parents. They had an outdated 2008 Vizio 55'. I've been reading and watching reviews on TCL and thought I give it a shot. While the screen is very nice, and it's a good size for a 55' tv, I was impressed......BUT, there are some things I did not take into account. 1. You can't set up your bluetooth through the tv itself if it isn't a TCL product. 2. The screen mirroring is a little bit wonky, haven't been able to connect my dad's Surface Pro to the tv. 3. The headphones when connected through the Roku, is very limited. It will cut out when he connects to his cable box. Overall it's a good tv, it's not a Samsung, LG, Sony or even a Vizio, but it's good. He his happy with the tv. My hope is that TCL will have an update to make connections to the TV directly much easier.

Definitely impressed by TCL UHDTVs. My first 4K UHDTV. I didn't want to spend too much money and I wanted at least 4 HDMI Ports and wanted DOLBY picture mode. Even in regular picture modes and in 1080P HD the picture looks very good. I am especially impressed with the ROKU operating system. Its very easy to use. Before, I was using Chromecast to stream everything from my PC or my Android smartphones and tablets. Now, I hardly use Chromecast at all and I just turn my TV on and select the channel I want to watch. It definitely helped me not have cable anymore.

This is a great tv but not as good as my LG 65. The two things I'm not as hyped on is what I read through many reviews and that is the viewing angle does go down the further to the side you go but who watches tv from the side. Beautiful picture from the front. Also, since I have mine on a stand for now until I wall mount it, there is no cable management on the back. I know it says that but I thought the would at least be one side. Power on left & HDMI on other. Just aggravating with a one year old running around. Although it's not my 65", it's almost as good picture wise. I'm glad I upgraded from 36", for sure!!

So with the idea of cutting the cord hovering around the house. During the pandemic Comrash forced our hand with their "regional" sports fee" charge that they are charging when there are no sports. So we got rid of the cable, switched companies and needed a new TV to support the application based providers that we use. The whirlwind of change during the time of cholera was not the best time to shop as I hate shopping online for large ticket items and most stores at this time are not accepting returns. But I persevered and found the TCL 5 series. (Angels sings the sky opens up) This TV is loaded with a nice software program. All the preloaded software is enough to make any videophile say "Ok, they got some good stuff." Pre-Loaded with Tubi, Amazon, Hulu, Netflix, and a host of other channels it's like getting cable with out the feeling of being sullied by the cable company. Now some of the apps are pay for play and that is kind of blah but if you are cutting the cord this TV is for you. The dynamic picture range is fantastic. I mean I put Jurassic Park: Lost World on to test the picture (The scene with Bryce-Dallas Howard running from the T-Rex) and the picture is so clear you can see the dirt and the sweat on her. The frame rate is so fast that playing PS4 took me a little bit to get used to how fast things moved. My two complaints are the remote and the sound It is very Fisher-Price. However, it is easy to navigate but so small. So after the long winded review in closing; this TV is a good starter TV in to the big dog realm. Easy to set up, lots of apps, beautiful picture. Also, people, if you buy the TV and its broken in the box you shouldn't write a review giving it a bad review because you had a problem with the store. Take your issue up with the store the TV had nothing to do with it.

It's just right for the price. I've added the Apps I like and canceled my cable. There are live news channels and has a clear picture. Best part only 1 remote. No more 2-3 remotes for the TV/cable. Easy instructions. Had no problem connecting to internet. Once in a great while, the YouTube channel may drag..the lips and sound don't match the words so I check to see if I need an update by going to the settings, but it usually does the updates automatically. If you can operate the apps on your Smart Phone, you can easily operate this TV.

After 4 weeks still very happy with purchase. Works well with over air antenna and ps4. Very surprised of the free streaming content avail and channel apps. Picture is wonderful. Favorite channels is cool. A TV guide!!!! How awesome! Remote devices are pretty cool feature. Easy set up, using WiFi with out issue. Haven’t yet tried a thumb drive for pause rewind features yet but anticipate its value of “what did they just say?” Would recommend this Tv and would recommend TCL as a great product. Best Buy was easy to complete store purchase in Covid times.

Ok so my Mom got one of these for herself a few months ago and my son would not leave it alone while visiting. So since my little 32 inch was 5 years old and looking kinda rough, I decided to go all in and get a larger screen and updated television. I ordered this on the site and had it delivered. The delivery man was super kind and didn't mind my different needs son standing there asking a million questions while he was delivering. He didn't have to enter my home, as my front door opens into the living room where it was to be set up. So he left it on the porch where i was able to get it inside. Corona yall, gotta protect us all. So he left without issue. I got the box inside, it was a tiny bit heavy but I'm a chunker and could use the exercise. I get this gargantuan box inside and get the scissors. I cut off the cording and open up the box to see this sleek and clean new tv inside. My son only sees the styrofoam because he loves how it sounds. (EEK!) I had already purchased a new stand because my old one was not large enough. So I took the brace and bar off of it and attached it to the rear of the tv only to realize I had it on upside down. Bummer. So I put it on correctly while the tv was standing up on my couch so as not to scratch the screen. Then i hefted it up and attached it to the stand and screwed it into place. The tv has great color quality and picture quality that I was not aware I was missing with my old tv. I turned it on and it took about an hour to go through and connect my WiFi, get all the channels I wanted added on, and to get all the connections attached such as my antenna and streaming boxes and gaming systems. Once they were all on, we stayed up late in the night watching all the new stuff on the new tv. To say my son is still enthralled is an understatement. With his different needs, he has issues with attention. But with the new TV, he will sit and watch most of a half hour program now and retains the info. So PBS and so many other great scholastic programs are now available to him with more ease than they were by searching the streaming box. He can find the programs he wants to watch easily and that makes him want to interact more. If only for his reaction, I would buy another.

As my first 4K TV, it's amazing how much more lifelike TV shows and movies now look. Even older movies. As with most edge-to-edge LED TVs, sound quality isn't the greatest simply because there is no where to put in larger, high quality speakers. So, be prepared to mate it with a sound bar. Having Roku built in makes the TV much more versatile and saves consuming up a HDMI port to add streaming capability.

Got this TV as a clearance deal, so far I’ve been very happy. It has a great picture and Dolby Vision movies look fantastic, for under $300 out the door it was a steal. This is my 3rd Roku TV from TCL, started with a standard 4K model, then got one with HDR and sold the standard one, then had the opportunity to get this one and sold the previous one with HDR. I’ll keep upgrading where possible, I do love my TCL Roku TV’s!

The rates for TVs have been dropping and I was not aware of the TCL line, but this set is a great set. The picture is solid and the Roku TV is a nice included feature. I was able to sync it easily with our wifi and then had access to all the subscribed streaming services we have, Netflix, Disney +, Amazon etc. We don't have cable for this but it hooked up easily to an indoor antenna and we get most of the major networks OTA at high res. Only detraction was the "semi-DVR" feature which if you put a 16 GB usb stick on the TV it would capture the video so you could "pause" viewing live TV by up to 90 minutes. I formatted the usb stick using the TV's system but it made viewing on the antenna unwatchable as the screen would Freeze and then start over and over every minute or so. I suppose it was writing to the usb stick but I thought it was a problem wtih the antenna and I tried the few antennas that I had (powered and just regular) but found out that once I removed the USB stick the freezing problem went away. Other than that it was a great price and works fine for what we use it for. We didn't have any problems with the remote and even with the antenna hook-up, it had a Guide feature that showed all the channels and gave preview listings of what they were showing and it was easy to navigate through the channels that way. It'd be nice if the remote had a "Last Channel" button so you could toggle between the last two stations but I've no major complaints about that. I have the Roku remote app on my phone but don't use it much since the TV remote is fine with me. And I didn't have the responsiveness problems others have mentioned with the TV remote. So a great buy for us.

Excellent 4K at an awesome price! The TV was easy to setup. I also have a Roku Ultra remote and I was able to pair with this TV. The picture quality is AMAZING! I bought the Series 4 55 inch an that TV does not come close to the Series 5 regarding the 4K quality. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra $100 and pick up this TV. Thank me later!

Excellent replacement for a 55" Samsung that had color problems. These TCL sets are inexpensive but that picture quality it excellent. Roku player built in, great since I use Hulu/Netflix/Prime Video. The built in Dolby Vision HDR, allows Netflix and Hulu to adjust the offered stream to utilize the feature. I honestly wish all my sets had it, colors are amazing. Highly recommend the TCL sets.
