We hate to turn if off at night it's so fun to watch. The color is deep and rich and the detail is stunning. No the color is not 10-bit so there is banding but most programs are only very lightly affected. Mostly it's fantastic for the money. Yes the feet are goofy looking but soon we will wall mount it so that's a non issue. The motion issues some have talked about online are an easy fix, just hit the * key on the remote during any program/movie, go to picture settings and turn off all motion settings and bam! all is well. The sound is good for a tv but nothing like our home theater system. The Roku interface is a good balance between simplistic and too complicated. Everything you need is here. If this lasts at least 5 years without any hitches I will be impressed. Made in China just like your computers and phones and...does that matter? Chinese people need to work too so...

This was a birthday present and is a replacement for a fist generation 4K from 2013. The picture quality, coupled with the HDR, intuitive design, and local dimming make this a no-brainer. I have seen complaints about the viewing angle which I am not having any issues with, with my off to the side recliner location.

I just replaced this with a 2000$ LG CX OLED— which is best in a dark room— and I will say first and foremost that the difference does not feel remotely worth more than TRIPLE the price.
The gaming performance is acceptable. 60 FPS, mid range input speed that felt quite good in Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War on my XBOX Series X. I only upgraded for the 120HZ and because I could afford to.
Otherwise, this TV has done amazing on Dolby HDR through Disney+ And Netflix. Jaw dropping during Marvel movies, especially from the last few years of the Infinity saga.
But it also looks amazing on movies that aren’t over-produced neon visual feasts. Everything looks great on the TCL 6 series and before that I had a TCL 4 series which was good for the money. So I can confidently say that this is a SUBSTANTIAL upgrade from the lower TCL models and absolutely DESTROYS the similar price ranged Hisense and Vizio TVs.

I'm no tv expert. I don't own or watch one.
Bought this badboy as a present to my mother.
After much research online, I chose this because of the rave reviews by tv geeks.
I was looking at Sony tvs (very nice) , but after my tv education via the www, I went for the ROKU system rather than an android based.
The ease of set up and operation blew me away. I was dreading having to teach my 90 (going on 70) mother how to navigate a confusing/tech -complicated , device. Nope. She got it right away. She did have a ROKU on her former rig so was familiar with the controls.
The controls:remote is simple. The voice command works fab.
For the money, the picture is cleaner/clearer/comparable to alot of more expensive tvs I have seen whilst passing by the electronic section of stores and in others homes.

Let's begin by saying this is a good product, so far the tv was easy
to set up except for the hook up to a old Bose 321 system that I had.
If you had the same problem here is the simple answer, one you will need a converter RCA to HDMI for sound and picture, of course a
RCA cable also a HDMI cable to the HDMI port to the tv.I also got a
optical cable just for the sound for the regular antenna I don't have
cable. So far everything looks good and sound's great.
So why only four stars, one had to go to a different store to see it there was know display at the store of purchase no big deal. Two
I was surprised at how fast it was delivered three days instead of the four that was on the store site ,what made me a little concerned was the delivery person through the tv on his shoulder and brought
it in . I guess that is the he was used to doing it that way. Glad I got the Geek Squad protection.
Also DO NOT CALL TCL SUPPORT ON HOW TO HOOK THE SOUND
TO A OLD SYSTEM ! I'm sorry they could not speak English very well
there for they were hard to understand.
Over all good service Best Buy, tv is fine four the money.

The TV has a great picture and I like having the built in Roku. Only one small complaint...I don’t like the volume buttons on the side of the remote. It’s too easy to push them accidentally.
Would recommend this TV for anyone looking to get a great quality TV at a great price!

Great Apps and Remote, Poor Picture With Cable

First off, I want to say the BestBuy rocks with regards to their return policy and customer service during that process. They were helpful and professional and it is awesome to know that they really do want the customer to be happy with their purchase, because my wife and I were not and they took care of us. Now, to the TV.
The Good:
Remote and Apps- We really liked the Roku app and remote. The voice control was cool and it was such a convenience to turn on the cable box and then control everything from the TCL remote. No need for our Fire Stick remote and the associated lag loading amazon and then Netflix, all that stuff is already loaded onto the TV and seemed markedly faster. Yes, it's been a while since we purchased a new TV, but this is a convenience I want going forward and the TCL app menu and remote was great.
Stand- I liked the look of the legs (wife prefers center stand) and it felt solid, no fear of it snapping or breaking or falling over.
Dolby Vision was cool and if you're going to watch a bunch of stuff on that, the picture was solid.
The Bad:
The picture quality on cable was unwatchable. It was physically painful to get it close to something decent because I had to jack up the settings to a brightness level that was difficult to watch for longer than an hour from 8 feet away. At 12 feet, I could manage it, but even with the brightness jacked up and all the settings manipulated, the color never looked right. Excessive "neonish" reds and the picture looked like the TV was sick. You know how people go pale when they are ill or about to be sick, the color washes from their face? That is what the TCL 6 looked like when watching cable. It was an unpleasant experience. My wife said that's what you get for a TV at that price...Picture quality on Netflix wasn't bad, we watched the new Netflix movie with Thor, "Extraction" and the picture quality was decent, but with our cable feed...horrors! Since one of our primary functions of the TV is to watch sporting events, having poor picture quality from our cable just wasn't going to work with this TV. Now I know. Thankfully, BestBuy's return policy is outstanding.
Conclusion: If you're buying the TCL to watch with your cable box, look elsewhere. If you're using it to stream movies from Amazon and Netflix, you might be good with it. But even then, you might miss the rich picture quality of other TVs. I bought this TV because the reviews said it was an affordable "alternative" to TVs like the LG B9. With a picture quality this "blah" and sickly, I don't really see it as an "alternative". But again, if you're not going to use it to watch your cable feed, you might be good with it. And, in case you're curious, we stepped up and purchased the 55" Samsung Q80R.

It does have some clouding/DSE in the corners with white backgrounds but not noticeable in 99% of general watching.

I bought a floor display model at a great price. Love the image -- it's pretty much always on and is a huge upgrade from my 1080p non-smart TV! This TV is reliable (if you get a good panel) and the colors are solid. It can also get very bright and the volume is loud enough at around 20 for me.
I use it to game on my PS5 and now I only want to watch 4K content because of it. The only downside I can think of is it's going to be a pain to move since it's heavier than other modern TVs. Wish that it had HDMI 2.1 but I'm pleased that a firmware update enabled VRR. Overall, I honestly think I got a lot of value for what I spent on this TV.

Excellent TV with some caveats

So after 10 years with an old 32" Sharp Aquos, declining vision sent me in search of a new TV. After extensive reading and research, I settled on the TCL 55 6 Series LED 4K UHD. It is a very impressive television - especially for the money. We took delivery of it yesterday. Just from a packaging perspective, the TV was solidly packed, and included a very solid and thick screen protector. We have saved this because it would make a great base for a very large sign.
We didn't plan on spending this much, but after looking at the differences between this and the non-4K TVs for 200 to 400, this was a no-brainer. Picture is incredible, clarity is incredible. Have not watched any 4K movies yet.
However.... there are a couple of caveats to keep in mind before you buy this.
First, make sure you have sufficient room for this TV if you are not wall-mounting it. According to my measurements, I *thought* this would fit where our old TV sits. My bad. I was off by about 2". The way the feet attach on the side makes the TV sit somewhat awkwardly on a flat surface. So I now have to go hunt down an oak-veneered board and stain it to more or less match the cabinet it sits on now, on top of two 1x4 boards.
The other consideration here are the speakers. As another reviewer stated, these can best be generously described as 'anemic' if I want to be polite. However, I didn't buy the TV for its sound. I also bought a new Yamaha 200 series stereo receiver as our mini-stereo finally died after 30 years.
The huge problem is that the TV is totally incompatible with the stereo, which admittedly is fairly limited for inputs. I was able to hook the TV into one of the ports on the stereo, but it is really a hack and it sounds like it.
So, I just now had to buy a Digital Audio to Stereo converter from Amazon for $30. Had I known this was going to be an issue, I would have purchased the converter with the TV. So before you go hooking equipment together, verify that you have the correct ports. I'm sure the DAS will work just fine, it's just a small thing I didn't know about.
Otherwise, you can't go wrong with this. I did add a 2 year warranty for 3 years coverage, although if this is like our old Sharp, it will probably outlast us at this point.

Last year I had upgraded our family tv from a 2009 Sharp Aqua 1080p 120hz 60” tv to a Samsung MU8000 65” tv which had a game mode option. I thought I could still play games on the Sharp in the basement but found input lag horrendous! I had to upgrade it to something affordable with excellent input lag and to my surprise I’ve found the quality of this tv equal too or better than the Samsung! This tv cost 1/3rdof what I paid for the Samsung and if I had the choice again I would eat this TCL tv. Great for gaming, streaming, and movies.

We bought this model because of the built in Roku and after owning it for a few weeks we believe that is the tv's best feature. The picture is pretty good but the side angle viewing really fades the color with just a small move from the optimal viewing angle
We noticed some problems with the picture with a wireless connection so we changed the connection to a wired setup which seems to have solved the problem. If you have a small viewing area like ours I would recommend this tv but in a large room where you may be viewing from an angle I would look at a different tv

Hi loremco,
Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. There are options available to adjust the picture settings to better fit your personal preference. You can access the Options menu on the TV by pressing the asterisk (*) button on your remote while watching content. Additionally, you can access expert picture settings by downloading the free Roku mobile app on a smartphone or tablet. The Roku mobile app works as a remote and allows you to access additional features like voice search, private listening, expert picture settings, and more. Hope this helps & happy viewing!

Before purchasing tv’s, I always consult with a good friend of mine who specializes in home entertainment systems. He said, “Don’t waste your money on an overpriced brand. Buy a TCL and thank me later.” This tv has exceeded my expectations. It has a 240 refresh rate, which is perfect for sports and gaming. When the camera pans, there is no choppiness at all. The colors are very vivid and the picture settings are fully customizable. My Xbox 1X plays HD BluRay movies as well, so combine that with this tv and my mind is blown! This is my favorite tv purchase of all time and I highly recommend TCL before they crank their prices up.

This was my 2nd choice, since my 1st (a Vizio) was not available. What I did not see in reviews is an issue that now I see prevalent when I look up the problem. First, I should say that my budget would not allow me to go for the $1000 or more tv's. I wanted a 55" because of the large room the tv was going into, so this TCL 6 series seemed a good match at the price of just under $600, and reviews were positive. I am not fussy about all the color, etc. things, so I thought this price range would get me an adequate if reliable tv. The set up went fine, I had to have help lifting and putting legs on, but all hook ups were easy for me to figure out, even the sound bar I previously used. However, a day or two after first turning on the tv (and before the sound bar hook up, I noticed that the video and audio were not syncing, sometimes worse than others. Of course I went online and tried all the possible solutions people suggested, including the TCL site. No combination solved the issue, and unlike some other tv's, this TCL does NOT have a setting that allows for re-adjusting the syncing. I was hoping maybe the sound bar might help, but it didn't change anything. Like others, I refuse to have to unplug and re-plug my tv every time this happens, which the TCL people recommend! So I considered returning it and getting a different brand, but I did some research and it seems this is a problem with any brand I would be able to replace this with. So it is inherent in the current generations of tv's and is therefore an industry problem. And no fix! I am truly irritated by this. I also don't want the hassle of returning this, getting something else, having to get help setting it up (I refuse to pay Geek Squad $145 to put the darn legs on my tv!) and then find out the same problem occurs, as reviews of other brands seems to indicate. So, the TCL 6 series is a decent tv, but if it will bother you that people talking does not match the audio, and you can't ignore it like I've decided to do, then look for something else. But good luck with that. Maybe the higher priced tv's do not have this problem, but I did not bother to look since I can't afford them.
