This is the first good quality TV I've ever owned in my life. I have had a 32" 720p for 7 years and before that I had a 32" big picture tube tv. I did a lot of shopping around on line and decided on this TV. Now while the picture is good but for some reason I think it should be sharper. I really wish I would have went to the store to see this instead of relaying on reviews. I was thinking of returning this because I thought I had 30 day's. But I just found out I only had 15 Days and that ended a week ago so I guess I'm stuck. As I said this is really the best looking picture I've ever owned but I guess I was looking for a picture that jumps off at you. My father has a 50" 1080p Samsung and it has a sharper more vibrant picture. Anyway to sum it up since I'm stuck with this I will make the best of it and learn my lesson which is never to buy a TV on line just off of reviews go to the store and look at the TV's in person. As for the "Recommend this to a friend" I'm gonna say no just so you don't do what I did. GO TO THE STORE AND LOOK!!!

      Hello,

There are options available to adjust the picture settings to better fit your personal preference. You can access the Options menu on the TV by pressing the asterisk (*) button on your remote while watching content. Additionally, you can access advanced picture settings by downloading the free Roku mobile app on a smartphone or tablet. The Roku mobile app works as a remote and allows you to access additional features like voice search, private listening, advanced picture settings, and more. Hope this helps & happy viewing!

I picked this up as my main home entertainment system TV. While at first I was impressed, over time I started noticing a few things that I don't like. Primarily this TV has a problem with backlight bleed. Now, I recognize this is sometimes could be just the specific unit I have, I plan on bringing it back to the store and getting a replacement unit. The bleed started in the corners of the screen and started working its way inward, its easy to tell where the screen gets light towards the center of the unit and gets extremely dark around the edges. The second issue I have is the 3.5mm AUX output is pretty pitiful, I have it hooked up to a speaker system, and there's this constant hum that plays over it - I just purchased a DAC unit and I'll see if the digital audio output quality is any better.

If you’re shopping on a budget this tv honestly will do just fine. It won’t wow you or get you excited when you wanna play games or watch movies but it is a 4K tv and it has HDR support. It won’t get you the brightest colors or most vivid picture but it does work well. It has a very good sharpness to it but at least for me I noticed a bit of a red hue or tint in the color. You can adjust it in the settings but it’s noticeable compared to other models with more natural colors. If you like TCL I would prefer the P605 or P607 if they’re available in your area. Those also include Dolby vision and are the cheapest Dolby with HDR options currently on the market. But again if you’re limited this will get the job done.

This is a great tv for it's price. The sound and picture quality is far above what I normally expect for a budget tv. But, there is no comparing it to it's pricier counterparts. On black screens or other one color images, you can very clearly see large lighter colored patches all around the edges. There is no adjusting the picture quality. You can turn the brightness up or down and that is your only option. The brightest setting isn't very bright. This tv will reflect even the smallest amount of external light even at night. There are no options for sound either. It's performance with gaming is also firmly average. It's not terrible, but if you are an avid or passionate player, this tv is not for you. It does not have game mode.

I recently purchased a 55' inch TCL smart tv. I was really excited to set everything up and enjoy my tv. After opening the box and screwing the legs on I proceeded to turn on the tv. There were lines and streaks covering the top and right side of the television. Of course I was disappointed to see this since it was a brand new tv but I contacted Best Buy and they immediately scheduled someone to come out and exchange the tv. I give Best Buy a 5 for good customer service but a 3 rating on the tv for the malfunction. Overall it's a nice design and appears to be a great tv.

We got this as a replacement for our Vizio that stopped working. We went from a 43 to this 55in so it’s nice having a bigger screen than before. But I wouldn’t call this 4K quality picture. I have a few friends with other 4K brands and the picture is much clearer and better motion rate. Plus everytime you turn on the tv you have to select the input, it doesn’t go to one automatically which is kind of annoying. Overall it’s not a bad TV for the price and smart feature.

      Hi Ms Daily,

You can actually program the TV to power on to a specific Input. Here are steps to accomplish this. Please go to the following: Settings>System>Power>Power On>choose which input you would like your TCL Roku TV to power on to. Also, here is a link with more information. (https://support.tclusa.com/23507-roku-tv/how-to-set-input-displayed-on-power-on). The quality of the content coming in also has an influence on the picture quality that you are seeing. You want want to check the source input to make sure that everything is running optimally. Hope this helps!

After extensive research and looking at lots of reviews I settled on this TV as the most bang for the buck I could get. It fared a lot better than more expensive TV sets in many reviews. One area it surpassed them was supposedly passing through the 5.1 signal over hdmi arc. However, no matter what I did, my Xbox One S will only recognize my sound system (Vizio SB3851) as stereo. I wound up using a optical cable directly to my sound system from the Xbox One S which is not what I wanted. If I can figure it out, I will update my rating to five stars.

One month ago I bought an Insignia as was so pleased with the picture quality I returned to Best Buy to purchase a 2nd Insignia. The sales person all but refused to sell me what I wanted. He talked me into buying the TLC . In my opinion the TLC is not a bad purchase, the picture is of good quality. However the Insignia is better. The lesson I've learned, when I know what I want, get it. Would I recommend this television to someone; yes. Again, it's not a bad set. It's just not what I wanted.

A Best Buy employee told me to purchase this TV based on what I told him I wanted. I have always purchased Vizio in the past and been happy. This TV was on sale and therefor, I thought I would buy it. It's fine but I would not purchase this brand again or go out of my way to recommend this brand to anyone unless they want a very basic smart TV. The quality is not too great and when I watch the other TVs around my house, I notice a huge difference.

The tv is an entry level 4k so dont expect much. Minimal settings to play with but easy enough to use. Where it lacks most is that it often suffers slow downs or instancea of booting you back to home screen with only fix being a hard reset and letting it sit for a few minutes. Been waiting on an update to fix it looka like i might just return and exchange it

I gave this tv an average review of 3 because I was not able to use it due to the mounting screws for a wall mount. I replace another wall mounted tv for this one. The location mounting screws were a at the bottom half of the unit. With my wall mount brackets maxed out in adjustments the tv would not fit in the location that I had the old tv in. Also the tv I was replacing was only a 50in.

It is an average tv. I am not sorry that I purchased it because it was within my budget. The picture quality is average. It really does not show as clear of other 4k brands and models. I bought it because the sales person says it shows as good as a Sony tv. Well, It does not but that is ok. So if you are looking for a budget friendly 55 inch , then this is your deal. Everything is excellent on the tv.

While i enjoy this TV, i have had problems with it. First TV i had got stuck in an endless loop on the loading screen and was unable to be fixed. After returning it and getting the second one, it did the same thing after about 2 months, except this time i was able to reset the TV. Unfortunately, i had to insert all of my information again for Hulu and i had to adjust all of my picture settings again.

I guess it’s my own fault, but coming from a 3.5 year old song W700B I thought i wouldn’t be losing much. This TV lacks all of the features and tv through dish looks awful. The Roku is very nice though. The tv just doesn’t have a smooth picture and the blacks flicker. But then again it was only $370. This would be good for a spare bedroom as a gaming only tv I think.

The picture quality is not as good as on the name brand ones, but is adequate if used for occasional watching. I would not want to use it as the primary TV in the house for friends to watch. If you don't have another TV to compare it to, its not bad, but when a name brand TV is located next to it, the quality of picture and color is obviously not the same.

The price of the TV is hard to beat and it seemed like a pretty good deal until just a few days after the return exchange period. The TV started acting up, In the mornings there would be no picture or sometimes no picture and just sound and would need to be unplugged each time to get it workining also the picture is dark.

Read many decent online reviews (not necessarily customer) regarding TCL 55 4K being one of the best vales out there. I needed to replace a Samsung 50 1080P LED that died. Both wife and I thought the new TCL picture was terrible, previous 1080p looked better. You get what you pay for I guess. I took it back and got a Samsung 55 4K TV and wow, what a difference.

If you sit straight in front its fine but off to the side the color is off! It also does this weird thing where the picture gets huge. I mean you can only see like the very top corner. it does it when the commercials come on. I have to stop what im watch and restart the show. Not a big deal just weird!
