A TV worth your hard earned money

There are two types of people in the world of electronics. 1)- You like/dislike what you see, experience or use. 2) You always have to check benchmarks and numbers about your purchase even after you buy to make yourself feel better. For the category 2)- sorry you really should buy OLED TVs. There is no way around it ATM or you could step out of it and really think what your intended use case is. This TV will satisfy anyone who belongs to category 01) if you are like the majority of people who just wanna play games, movies, pc use and wanna have a really good experience and you wanna squeeze every worth of your hard earned money- just get this TV. Use it for a week, don't even compare/ look up all those numbers that you probably don't even care/ matter to you. Are you one of those people with a specific use case for the TV? If yes, look at your priorities and make an informed decision.. Because this is not a monitor you should be using for your serious photo editing and such. This will definitely serve every casual/ amateur purposes though. Again, 600 dollars is all what you are paying!! Let me reword to make sense to some people- six hundred american currency! 55" 4k Dolby vision Full array local dimming, low input lag, Roku built in- the list goes on and on. The blacks are so nice and dark, I was amazed. Again-i did not compare it to an OLED or a 1000+ dollar tv. Because there was no point- I knew I didn't wanna spend that kinda money on a TV. I knew if i would like what i am seeing and experiencing for a week, there is no reason for me to compare to TV priced more than double. Let me put it this way. If you compare it to another expensive TV and find somethings are inferior on this tv and you decide to dump this and get that expensive tv, maybe a week or two is all that you will care about that superior "quality". Again unless you have any kind of special purposes or use case for a tv, just get this one. At least you won't be dissapointed and regretting after spending your hard earned money on a 1000+ TV. The sound quality is probably horrible depending on room size. The sound is okay for my room size, but most probably won't be for yours. But then most TVs have bad sound. So get yoself a nice sound system or soundbar if your room is medium to large. If small room-try the tv for a week before deciding to invest in a sound system- because that money does not fall from the skies either, you know Now for those with defects and hardware issues- be fair with your reviews please. Maybe try reaching out to best buy or TCL support first before giving one star reviews. If yout support experience turns bad, then give a low star review please. That would make more sense.

Like many others on here, I was skeptical at first. After reading plenty reviews and doing extensive research, I decided to try this TV out. It has exceeded my expectations. Great picture quality and awesome gaming TV. Best Buy also offers a 5 year warranty that I purchased, to be safe. For the price, you will not find a better TV!

This is a Great TV for the price. It has a lot of great features like HDR 10 and Dolby Vision. It's Great for gaming as well with a very low input lag. I bought this tv for my Xbox one X and PS4 Pro. They both look very good on this TV compared to my Samsung. The only thing keeping this from being a 5 stars review is the fact that when you try to watch regular tv like sports it doesn't look very good at all especially for football. The field which is supposed to be green looks washed out and gray in certain areas at times. So for those looking for a good overall tv you might have to invest into another brand like a Sony or LG. But if you are on a budget and only care about gaming then I would recommend this TV

we bought two...one ended up being shattered due to a drop (the box's corner was barely damaged). i searched for the best tv within its' price range, but this was the only one with HDR. i will say this tv is absolutely gorgeous for the price. I hooked it up to my sonos system and i don't think i can ever look back. would definitely recommend this particular model.

So I purchased this TV in preparation for Xbox One X. I went to rtings.com and saw its sister TV, the TCL 55P607 had a great review. Aside from the slightly different remotes, the TVs are one and the same. I love how 4K and HDR looks on this. I played Forza Horizon 3 and it looked absolutely gorgeous. Also, the low input lag makes this a great TV for gaming, especially with the recent update that enabled the FALD contrast features with Game Mode on. All in all for 599.99 you can't go wrong with this TV.

I'm only posting this review so people who are worried about buying an off brand TV, won't trip. This TV is amazing. I was very skeptical to buy a brand I don't know much about, but I am very happy I went with TCL. I am a gamer and this TV is wonderful for gaming, you don't notice the input lag at all, it's super low. The Roku feature turned out to be a surprise. It's an awesome interface and makes using my TV easier to use. If you are thinking about buying this TV, do it. You won't regret it.

Just bought this to replace a Vizio 4K(D50u-d1). This one is slightly larger and I like it a lot more. The Roku interface is a lot better and features on this is outstanding for the price. If you are debating this vs the 55P607 on Amazon, there is very little difference. If you want the headphone jack from the remote, you can always download the app for the phone and get the same experience. The remote’s sensor on this is the same as any other TV so saving $50 is worth it. There’s never been an issue with having to point the remote at the TV to do what you want. The app also lets you control the TV too.

Great TV for a Great Price!

I am a very experience electronics/technology user, so this review will be long and detailed. I am constantly monitoring new electronic and technology and this television is by far the best buy (no pun intended) out there! For what you get, from the picture to the internal features, nothing else compares at this price or below. And in many cases at a much higher price point. The 4K picture is and has been reviewed by the top electronic/technology websites as comparing to tvs in the thousands of dollar range. The 60hz refresh rate along with the 120hz enhancement technology gives this tv a smooth performance. No motion lag on 4k Blu-rays whatsoever! I am not a gamer, but again the major tech websites say this tv performs fantastic with smooth gaming also. This model does not allow you to go deep into calibration as the P607 does, but it has just enough adjustment to ensure you get the right settings for your rooms brightness. And the 72 local contrast zones and the NBP Photon technology make for a fantastic picture! Most people don't even know what calibrating a tv is anyway, so this may not be important to everyone. I must say that each picture adjustment has an explanation of what it accomplishes right next to it, so that will help novices understand what each adjustment does, which is a big plus. This tv is HDR10 and Dolby Vision compatible, which gives you every option currently available for the best picture with 4K blu-rays or 4K streaming content. Just make sure you own or purchase a Full 4K Blu-ray player with matching compatibility. It also has Dolby Atmos for the latest in sound technology, so if you have a Dolby Atmos soundbar connected, you will get full advantage. If you have a AV Receiver, then it will depend on whether it is Dolby Atmos capable to get Dolby Atmos sound. The tv speakers are about what you would expect for just about any flat panel tv. They are good enough for someone who really doesn't care about great sound, but if you do care, at least purchase a decent soundbar or a AV receiver and a speaker combination that will suit your expectations and your budget. Having the ROKU platform and processor built-in is simply awesome, especially for those who don't already have access to another full streaming platform. You'll have access to pretty much any streaming app you would want! The onscreen channel guide performs better than the high-end tv I replaced with this one due to failure. I like that you have the option to turn off the HDR and Dolby Vision pop-ups. I have a Chromecast connected, so I can use Google Home to turn the tv on and off with voice command, but for some reason the off command isn't working properly, which is more than likely a compatibility issue between the Google and TCL. Hopefully they will rectify the problem, but it's definitely not a big issue. I don't like that upon powering the tv up, it wants to switch to the active Chromecast immediately unless you cancel in 5 seconds. You can turn that feature off, but it will then not recognize when any other device connected is powered on and switch to that device automatically provided the CEC control is activated on all devices. So, I'm dealing with it. The only major annoyance for advanced users is the very limited direct functions of the remote control. This can be overcome fairly easily by downloading the Roku remote app to your phone or tablet, which gives you much more control at an instant than the physical remote which is included with the tv. The physical remote does do most of the basic commands and resembles the original Roku remote with a power button added. By no means a deal breaker though. Don't let this issue prevent you from the excitement you will get with the purchase of this tv at a great price! There are only 3 HDMI ports on this tv, but if you have an AV Receiver, this is not a concern. Otherwise, for those who have multiple game consoles to go along with a Blu-ray player and a cable or satellite box, this might be unattractive. An HDMI switch box with multiple ports is an alternative. The USB DVR feature is a nice touch for those who don't have a stand alone DVR already. Although it is limited in function. In summary, this tv at the current non-sale price is by far the best deal you will find whatsoever. What you get will absolutely blow your mind, especially if this is your first 4k tv experience. Even if you have other 4k tv's, this one will impress greatly! And, when you remember you only paid $599, you will do a little dance! I would recommend buying the extended warranty with Best Buy. They always back up their products and they provide much more comprehensive coverage than the manufacturer, no matter who they are. It will be worth it if you have any problems.

    Beautiful picture

I have been using this T.V. for about a full day now, and the picture is so beautiful. I used YouTube to watch a lot of 4k videos and they were stunning. The added benefit of having a roju already in this T.V. is a major plus. Easy to access Netflix, or Amazon and a lot of other streaming services. The only small complaint I have about this T.V. is the stand legs are very far apart, so just be mindful of what you will set the T.V. on. I only had a small T.V. stand and now I am using a full table temporarily until I buy a media center that fits the T.V. it's just something small to be mindful of.

I purchased 3 TVs to compare: Samsung 6300, LG 7700, and TCL55P605. Even though the cost of the TCL was cheaper than the other 2, the picture outperforms them both. The colors and black are fantastic and I noticed that motion artifacting to be much better on the TCL. I am the newest fan of TCL TVs.

This is the cheapest entry into a quality 4k tv with wide color gamut. This is best paired with one of the new improved consoles for 4k gaming which is why i bought it and it works great for that. If you were brought here by rtings, then rest assured what they say is true and it is a great entry into 4k without breaking the bank.

This tv is great for the price, you have to fine tune the picture settings to get the best picture. It has good blacks and decent colors, not as good as Sony 900e Series but it’s half the cost. I feel the Vizio M Series has a little better picture quality, but there is zero lag with the TCL for gaming. If you plan on using a PS4 Pro or Xbox One X get this tv if your price range is around 600 dollars, if your not a gamer get the Vizio M Series.

Never thought I would buy a TCL. TCL has surprised me in every way and saved me a lot of money. First time using Roku and I like it, I was able to connect a friend's Frontier FIOS account and get a lot of channels. 4K with Dolby vision looks amazing. For the first time in years I look forward to new movie releases on Blu-ray with the sole purpose of watching it in 4k HDR. Words can't describe the picture quality for 599.99.

This is the best tv you can get that is not an OLED. Go on to cnet.com and read reviews, as well as numerous other review sites. This TV has fantastic picture quality with pitch black blacks. Colors that pop, and Roku which is great for all things streaming. Would highly recommend it to anyone!

For the price that you pay and the quality that you get in return, this is the best 4K HDR tv on the market. The edges feel a little “cheap” but for under $800 you get 4K, HDR, & Dolby Atmos support. The Roku software is easy to navigate and use. If you’re a cable cutter, this a tv made for you!

I did a lot of research with different TVs and this TCL seemed the best for what i wanted it for which was gaming. The HDR and 4K look great with all the colors standing out. The Roku is so convenient because you don’t need to use up an HDMI port but the Roku OS can be glitchy at times. Overall I love this tv and do not regret going for a lower named brand compared to Samsung, LG, Vizio, etc.

. Overall I'm impressed by the performance for price . Settings really needed to be tweaked, way to bright out of the box. Also FYI, the roku app has some settings not in the TV menu. Dolby Vision looks great on Netflix , but something is going on w/ the amazon app HDR content. Looks completely washed out. The regular HD versions look better. Looking on the roku and Avs forums this is a known issue and I hope TCL/AMAZON fix it asap. The roku interface is great. This Isn't a perfect TV, But it's a great bargain that performs great

This television has surpassed all of my expectations. I did a lot of research before buying it and found it to be the best for the price, and after using it for a month I have to agree with everything I read. As an added bonus, the Best Buy version is cheaper and the only difference is the remote being smaller and less interactive. Not a big deal to me, so worth the lower price.
