    Top budget TV

I purchased this TCL fully expecting to be disappointed compared to my 2 previous Samsung TV's (latest being ks6300-4k) After a side by side picture quality test, the Samsung is going down to the man-cave.. The TCL has a life like picture with the darkest blacks ever and was brighter than the Samsung with vivid colors. The speakers sounds really bad. Sound bar is a must. Roku is easy to navigate. (Was also considering a Sony 900e, but chromecast was a deal breaker and a Samsung mu6300) I bought the only TV not on sale during Black Friday. I'm totally happy with my purchase.

Dolby Vision for under $600 (run and get this now)

TCL is destroying the competition with the best value that you can get in home entertainment right now with this specific model. With Dolby Vision & Dolby Atmos capabilities and streaming 4K apps (Vudu, Google Play, Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Video and Fandango Now) via Roku TV - for under $600. It doesn't get any better than this. These apps are leading the 4K arena. Run to a Best Buy and get this now already.

    Best tv i ever owned

If you’re looking for an OLED like tv for an affordable price than this is it. Very deep black levels, good local dimming, great colors and motion, the awesomely fast and smooth Roku OS and super low input lag make this the best tv worth owning. The only con that this tv really has is no anti-reflective coating and only 3 HDMI. Otherwise is's perfect in every other way.

Concerned about TCL? No reason to be.

I look at, install, and setup tv's many days a week. I was in the market for a budget UHD tv and almost purchased a Hisense or Insignia. Decided to not let my eyes be the only judge and went online to multiple independent review sites. I was very surprised by the professional comments, but read them for yourself. This model and the TCL models above it beat out entry level, yet more expensive 4K sets from Sony, Samsung, LG, Hisense, Insignia, Sharp, and so on. The picture quality is actually on par with $1500 models and the local dimming array produces black levels which are amazing. Everyone should investigate this model.

I had my eye on this TV for a long time, reading reviews and checking it out on rtings.com. For the price, it kept popping up as the best TV for your money. I was a little skeptical about the brand name, since I do not know too much about TCL, but I am glad I pulled the trigger. It is a definite upgrade from what I had. Coming from a 43 inch 720 Plasma. The picture is amazing and works well in my bright living room. I mainly use it for Netflix and gaming on my PS4 and I could not be happier. If you want to get a 4k TV at a great price, do some research and I bet you will come to this TV as your choice.

    Excellent value for HDR gaming

I bought this TV solely as a gaming console monitor. Before buying I did quite a bit of research, and my choices were down to this one and two other TVs that run $1000 more. While the others might have had a little better quality it wasn't enough of a margin to justify the cost. So far I'm extremely satisfied with this choice. It is excellent for gaming. Extremely low input lag. Great HDR video.

Good Picture but TV has Issues

So I bought this TV for my condo in Florida. Nice 4K TV with decent HDR and FALD abilities according to the review. True, the picture quality is super, but it doesn't show regular HD broadcast from Xfinity very well. Also, every time I watch 4K on the built in Roku OS switching back to cable causes some sort of input interpretation issue where the sound skips and the screen jumps making the cable unwatchable (normally I turn it off and back on a FEW times and it stops but this can take a few minutes). Between the cable input issue and the fact the remote doesn't sync to the X1 for control other than volume, I think I am going to return this TV to Best Buy.

Compared this tv to the new Sony models and found this set beat or matched in multiple areas. The important part-this thing is only $599 compared to the Sony at nearly 1k! Hooked up PS4 pro and Xbox one s and once calibrated was EXTREMELY impressed with results. Both gears of war and horizon zero dawn look incredible on this set. The only complaint is the sound-it's garbage but nothing a sound bar can't fix. I just wish it came in the 65" size...

I originally bought a 2017 Vizio M series to replace my old 1080p screen, but the experience wasn't good at all. So I returned it and after some research, I've come up with the TCL P605 as the best budget 4K HDR. In my opinion, this TV lived up to the hype. The interface is the best out there, is very fast and responsive, with access to a lot of streaming apps within the TV, no smartcast or whatsoever. Picture quality is very good as well, especially for 4K, although the upscale from Low res content could be better.

A well respected technical website rates this TV the best non-OLED TV you can buy. The price is amazing (and I got it for a hundred off too) and the picture is great. Love the built in Roku. I'd already committed long ago to Roku, and having it built in is spectacular. Also love that it's super easy to change to the different inputs. Great deal, can't believe it's on clearance already.

    Was reasonably happy until...

TV had better picture and color than I expected for a sub $1000 TV. Sound was pretty not fantastic but a simple sound bar seems to be what most TVs need these days. The ROKU offerings were not too shabby, although I wish they had the ability to link chromecast without buying an adapter. The TV worked great... For about 4 months. THE BAD PART After about 3 months, occasionally the TV would power on to a black screen. You could hear the clicking of the menu rolling around, but you couldn't see anything on the TV. At first, unplugging it for 30 seconds would work sometimes, and we didn't want to lose our TV for an extended period of time to do a Warranty claim. However that only lasted about a month. Now the TV screen is totally black. The screen is on, when I lightly press the panel the light flairs on it. But no actual picture comes up. Just got off the phone with the TCL support and after trying a few basic remedies, I was told a Technician would be in contact with me in 7-10 business days to tell me what my options are. You're telling me that I spent 700 dollars on a TV that lasted less than 6 months, and now I'm expected to sit around and wait for 2 weeks without a TV for them to decide if I'm going to get it warrantied or not? That's absolutely insane. I should be able to return it to the store I bought it from and get a new one and TCL work with Best Buy refurbishing the TV and selling it as a Refurb. Now I'm stuck with 3 kids in the house and no TV to watch, not to mention it's Football season and I'm going to be missing games. Not a happy satisfied customer.

Bought this TV after reading a bunch of reviews. I've been shopping around for a while now and thought I'd be spending almost $2000 for a good TV. This TV looks amazing and it's only $600!!! I'm completely satisfied with the purchase. Here's my main thought: unless you have this TV right next to another TV that is 3x the price, you won't see a difference. And even if you do see the difference, diminishing return plays a huge part. You won't be disappointed with this TV.

    Second time's a charm

The first 55P605 I bought from Best Buy had a screen blemish (either a burnt out or frozen pixel) so I took it back and exchanged for a new one. It was one of the reasons why I bought from BB instead of Amazon: I was worried about the reliability of the TCL and wanted the availability of an easy, same-day return and exchange. Also, I didn't need the capabilities of the remote like what's offered from the Amazon 607 version and saved some cash. My Best Buy store made the return process easy, even if it did suck up an afternoon of unpacking, setting up and seeing the blemish, then spending time with TCL customer service to diagnose, and then disassemble, pack up and return after they decided it was unfixable, then repeat setup with the new set. BB customer service flipped on the TV, saw the mark and then dollied a new one out to the car; this all took place on the day-of purchase. The second TCL 55P605 is stunning. It's an absolute upgrade from the 8-year-old 50-inch Samsung Plasma it replaced, and I think it looked dang good compared with sets on the show floor that cost twice as much. My one complaint is that the corners of the screen are slightly darker than the rest of the screen, giving the whole picture a vignette look. It's less noticeable with darker shows and one of the areas where the set's $600 price range shows through. The 3/5 score is reflective of receiving a defective first one. I'd call a fully functional one a 4/5 because of the corner edges, but getting a defective one out of the box was enough to knock it down to 3/5.

I read an online review of this TV a couple of months ago that raved about this TV. Guess what? It still didn't do it justice. It's big, fast, and GORGEOUS!. Blackest blacks, whitest whites. The colors just pop. One of the first things I did was look at some of the 4K Dolby Vision demos on YouTube, and was totally blown away. The ROKU setup was a breeze (this is our 3rd ROKU TV) and really makes for an easy streaming experience.

Roku gives you the flexibility to open apps such as Netflix and Hulu and the OS performs smoothly without any bugs or long loading times. HDR and Dolby Vision work great. However, the TV performs the best in a darker room.

Great TV Hindered by Dead Pixels

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Purchased this tv this past weekend after doing a lot of research for a good budget 4k tv for mostly gaming. Hooked it up, went through the setup process and made it to the dashboard on my PS4 console. My theme is a light grey color and noticed that there was a small black square almost dead center. As I got closer it was as I expected, a dead pixel. I then went and put the tv on a completely white screen to begin the hunt and lo and behold there were 4 more. It had only been 2 days since purchasing the tv so I packed it up, went to Best Buy and the swapped it out no questions asked (they get a 5 star for customer service!). Just got home, plugged it in, didnt even bother plugging my PS4 in and instead used the built in youtube app to load up the white screen. Much to my dismay this one has the same problem, not in the exact same spot mind you but same amount and scattered around. Im not sure what to do outside of the fact that im returning this tv asap. Not sure ill go with another TCL and while it is a budget 4k tv i expected better quality control regardless. I will probably go for the Sony XBR900e since its currently on sale and will probably provide much better quality. Really upset about this whole experience and probably wont return to TCL in the future.

The picture quailty is next to none other in its price range. I could have went with a big name brand, but with the roku interface everything just works. For the features this set has it's the lowest price and the best bang for your buck. I know oled is the best you can get for now, but I'm not ready to drop $2000 on one yet. I'm hoping this set will at least last me until the price comes to down a tad.

This tv does and excellent job at providing a high quality picture. The Dolby vision brings out so many colors when watching a movie shot in Dolby vision and when it's not you still get a nice vibrant screen color. There is no soap opera effect which is nice too. I'm am very pleased with this tv and at this price you can't beat it. The only thing that holds this tv back in my opinion is the sound, but that can be solved with a sound bar.

Solid TV - eh SDR, great HDR 4K

OTA TV isn't amazing. Colors, whites, and movements slightly better than my 3 year old direct light LED 50" but the TV does suffer from a dirty screen effect (DSE) that I didn't get on my older TV. But those poor whites/greys are outdone by the better blacks even on regular TV. Given my focus was better blacks for a great price (even before hdr 4k content) I'm happy. But can't wait for OLEDs to hit around 1K for a real upgrade.

Can't beat this TV for the price. The ROKU interface is so fast, it's a pleasure to use. I originally bought a $1600 Sony TV w/Android and compared to the ROKU the Sony is slow as molasses. Additionally the TCL the picture quality doesn't disappoint. My only issue is that compared to a stand-alone ROKU device, this remote must be pointed at the TV directly instead of being wifi based.
