The first Captain Marvel I ever saw was mid-70s Saturday Mornings. No educational messages in THIS serial Captain. Good, old fashioned adventure. I wonder: was the flying dummy Captain Marvel the same one they used in the King of the Rocketmen/Commando Cody serials?

Adventures of Captain Marvel is near the top of any serial fan's list of the greats of the genre. Casting is spot one with Tom Tyler as Captain Marvel. Dave Sharpe, super-stuntman of the era provides amazing action. The Lydecker Brothers special effect will make you believe a man can fly, nearly 40 years before Christopher Reeve's Superman. The print used is a bit rough, but detail is fantastic, and in a few spots it reveals some of the 'tricks' involved. A must own, blind buy.

A classic serial dating back to 1941, "Adventures of Captain Marvel" featured a great story as well as the first live-action super-powered hero on the big screen. An enjoyable way to spend a Saturday afternoon reliving this fine serial.

Read all the reviews and decided to give this a shot. If there is an audio issue buy the Blu Ray. Thought for its time and technical challenges they really did a great job on this serial. The kids must have gone crazy to have a little boy turn into a super hero! Simpler times!!
