I was a little skeptical about purchasing this movie after watching the trailer via YouTube. It looked like an ok movie but not great....boy was I pleasantly surprised! This movie I thought would be just another so so comedy, however, it took a pretty dark turn about 30 minutes into the beginning and continued to surprise me throughout the rest of the film! A definite must see and buy on my list!!

this was NOT what i had expected it to be, the trailer made it seem like some other thing, turned out to be completely different. Yeah it is about a guy that has low self esteem and wants to get some training to protect himself from everyone. By the middle of the movie it just takes turns for the worse! the movie turns very very dark and this is where the trailer led to something different. it gets nuts. its got some twist that might blow your mind or if you're someone like me, you'll see it coming.It is very very interesting. highly recommend

Great movie if you like something that makes you think. The humor is a little more deadpan and there's a bit of dialogue for some of the scenes (think Napoleon Dynamite) so if that's within your line of things when watching a movie, this one is worth watching. Following a middle-aged man who has to find it within him to gain self-confidence, what he goes through in the movie is both funny and thought-provoking. Recommended.

“The Art of Self Defense” packs the dry humor into this strange dark comedy. It’s not for everyone but it’s definitely original and worth the watch!

Satires are supposed to be funny by making fun of the things they spoof. This spoof has a serious side that makes it hard to always laugh while still being intrigued. See the special features for a good, straight-forward laugh.

If you have ever taken up martial arts, you will immediately identify with this movie. While it is dark humor, it sheds light on those bad senseis out there, Who have no business teaching martial arts.

Best Buy is one of the few places that still carry blu-ray’s and DVD’s. It’s nice to have that luxury to go and purchase something and not just rely on internet to do it for me. Thanks Best Buy!

The Art of Self Defense tricks you to make you think this is one kind of movie, but is totally another kind. Great movie.

When I watch this movie, I feel like I got punched in the face with someone’s foot.

Some of the flow to this film is a bit off, sometimes it feels like an 80s film, other times more like its set in the 90s. Once youre past that enjoy its subtle brand of humor.

One of the best movies I have seen all year!! Trust me you will love it!!

Not a bad movie, but not a good one either. Kind of boring. Very predictable. Funny parts here and there. Will probably become a cult classic.

The movie showed a weak, passive, insecure individual who decides to become more assertive and confident by taking a karate course. Over time, he goes from the passive individual to an overzealous jerk and finally a person who stands up for himself (with a surprise ending). Good, not great, but worth watching.

Overall great movie for its dark and bizarre humor and plot. Kinda misleading from it's original trailer but can't complain to much. Not exactly The Fist Foot Way. Eisenberg always at his best. Would definitely rent before hand.

If you need a good laugh this is the movie for you. Jesse Eisenberg play a hapless loney soul who turns to the martial arts to give him added confidence and soon finds his future love intrest.
