Clapton does an excellent job in his selection of material and guest artists. The production and performances are first-rate. Once I put this in my car's cd player it stayed there for weeks..

Instead of trying to add their influence to his songs, Eric, Mark and Willie showed how Cale influenced them. Great album.

Clapton has obviously been a great admirer of JJ Cale and his songwriting for many years, starting way back with his cover of After Midnight and others, including one of his best known songs, Cocaine. It's no surprise he would be the man to put together a tribute album to mourn the great man's passing, and that he would be able to put together such a great collection of fellow musicians to help. His songs have been covered by dozens of artists for years, and you probably be surprised by how familiar so many of his songs will be to you. . If you like what you hear on this album, I would encourage you to start hunting some of them down. There is NO SUCH thing as a "bad " JJ Cale album!

This is a pleasant overview and review of a dozen great J.J. Cale songs. There is a plethora of great guitar players doing their best to imitate the late, great J.J. Cale. It's very tasteful and very listenable. The one and only problem is that it simply is not The Man, and none of these great renditions are as good as the authentic thing. I'm sorry, Mr. Clapton, et. al., but it's true. For completists, yes, it's good. (Or for huge Clapton fans, and John Mayer fans, etc.) For everyone else, I suggest anything by J.J. himself. Any compendium or anthology will do, especially that 2 CD set. Even the live ones are great. A few of my favorites from J.J.'s original catalogue are Naturally, Okie, Lies, "5" and Grasshopper. But like I said, you can't go wrong by anything with J.J. himself. Enjoy!

Outstanding Tribute to an Unheralded Music Hero

The best and most genuine tribute possible to the late great music God, JJ Cale, by several of his more famous "disciples". The brainchild of the ever-generous and humble Eric Clapton, this album aims to introduce the casual listeners and fans of EC himself and the featured artists to the music and unique sound of one of his own greatest influences, and the author of some of his best-known hits. The A-list of guitarists here clearly each brought his own A-game to the record, checking his ego at the door. A genuine homage to Mr. Cale's unique style, an affirmation of his status as "a musician's musician", and best of all, proof that his musical legacy is timeless and lives on brightly!

Breeze: An Appreciation of JJ Cale

Fantastic music of JJ Cale by Eric Clapton and many other friends of JJ's.
As an avid follower of both JJ and Eric, and knowing both have been life long friends, these tow were meant to meet and play and record live together for many years… Best seen together during sessions of Eric's now famous "Crossroads Guitar Concerts" in Chicago, it all brings sweetness to your ears! "Breeze". thought by many to be from Lynard Skynard's collections, and they would be correct as it pertains to a "cover recording", but written and first performed and recorded by JJ Cale, just as "Cocaine" was by Eric Clapton, this too was written and first recorded by JJ Cale, only Eric made it famous.

I am a big fan of Eric Clapton and Tom Petty. I usually like almost everything they record. But this was one of those exceptions. The only tracks that I liked on this album were the ones by Willie Nelson. The other vocals were dull and some were irritating especially the duets. Some of the guitar playing was good but not great.
