I rented this one and was pleasantly surprised that it was not just a great story, but funny too! Had to buy it. Watched it several times now.

Picked this up for a really low price and added this to my Wes Anderson collection. If you loved Bottle Rocket or Rushmore, you’ll love this one.

I was finally able to buy my favorite movie in Blu Ray. If it wasn't for two or three scenes this movie would be perfect for everyone.

The color and cinematography in this movie is great. It can get a little cheesy but its kind of funny to me. Ralph Fiennes makes me laugh in this movie.

Quite likely the most widely accessible and entertaining Wes Anderson movie to date, "The Grand Budapest Hotel" is (mostly) light-hearted, joyful and wonderfully witty. Using a three-layered narrative, involving two major story-lines, Anderson and co-scenarist Hugo Guinness, tell the tale of M. Gustave, the greatest concierge in history, and his activities in and around the Grand Budapest Hotel. In tandem with "Lobby Boy" Zero Moustafa, the pair fall headfirst into a sinister plot surrounding a huge inheritance, attempt to flee from both a killer (Willem Dafoe) and an Army, all while trying to maintain the decorum and taste one expects from the staff of the legendary Grand Budapest Hotel. Full of flash-backs, flash-forwards and the most riveting on-screen skiing chase in years, "The Grand Budapest Hotel" is certainly a confection, but one that can be suddenly bittersweet. If not convinced before that Anderson is truly the "Whimsical Kubrick" of film, this beautiful Blu-Ray will convince. Bonus materials include a walking tour of the quaint locations with Bill Murray, and two featurettes that show how much thought and planning went into the world-building behind this charming (sure to be) classic film. You'll see why this movie deserved 9 Oscar nominations and 4 awards.

This movie is a classic. Between the perfect performances by the actors and the storyline this is a hit.

Wes Anderson is one of the most unique, creative, beautiful voices in art today. Each one of his films is full of absolute wonder, humanity, brilliant comedy, and quiet tragedy. The Grand Budapest Hotel is no exception to that, as Anderson creates a world stranger and (on the surface) less grounded in reality than most of his other works. But with unabashedly slapstick action scenes, absurdly perfect chase scenes, and a sense of humor that never denies itself, he tells a very human story about the passing of time, a certain kind of mentality, and the world that goes with it. His reverence for specificity, history, characters, and the flaws of people allow for the audience to stare in wonder at the absolutely stunning visuals while also being given a story that lands up timeless and distinctly of Wes Anderson. His uniqueness and perfectionistic tendencies give his films a life full of wondrous magic and theatricality that is stunning. This film is full of love (in more than one way), beauty, and hilarious and heartbreaking moments. It's also heartwarming and romantic, as his films tend to be.
