Some people didn't like this movie. I was not one of those people. I watched the movie and found it to be very interesting. Some type of phenomenon is happening in major cities where people start acting strangly and then commit suicide. Were we come in is the human side with Elliot (Mark Walberg) asnd Alma (Zooey Deschanel) who are a wife and husband having some peoblems. They hear on the news about this thing happening and decide to leave the city with their friend Julian (John Leguizamo) and his daughter as the problem is only happening in cities. They soon discover it is happening in less adn less populated areas. I wont say anymore about the plot. The movie seems to have this feeling of impending doom and hopelessness. The scenes where people die are appropriately uncomfortable and I think M. Night Shymalan does a good job of making you feel some of the deaths. Of course in the end he throws in hope which seems to be a theme in many of his movies. The acting of the two main characters was great and there are these two random teen agers they run into who I thought were hilarious. I likeed the movie.

ok hmm this movie wasnt that terrible as everyone says it is but its not that great.though leave it up to M night to make a movie that leads you to think that the grass is out to get us.there is some poor acting form zoey and her "over doing" on being freaked out and mark tries too hard for the sweet and innocent voice.i kinda go for the movies where the characters are wondering around and defending for themseleves but hey not everyone does the eneding does suck and kinda ruin the whole movie but up until the last 20mins are watchable if you wana see some creepy suicide kills and wind blowing...

I didn't really know what to expect besides what it says on the back is happening which is different and I enjoy a unusual movie. I took it with me on vacation because it's one of the movies I own that I still hadn't watched yet and I'm not saying I'm eager to watch it again but I will eventually.

I don't buy too many movies, only the ones that I really enjoy. My hubby and I rented this movie and really liked it. It's not a fantastic movie, but I like that M. Night's movies have a different feel to them. It can be a bit slow at times, but I like the theories that he introduces in his movies. I thought this plot was awesome because I am one of those people who believes we are destroying our planet. I am looking to purchase this movie but we are looking for it in Full Screen. The hubby hates Widescreen. ;-)

As I went down the list of reviews on this film, I see 5 stars and I see 1 stars, you either loved it or despised it. My wife and I personally loved it. You have to watch this film from the mindset of what if it 'happened' to you. I thought it was very intriguing. Plus, you have to be a fan, or rather understand, M. Night Shyamalan. Many people don't understand his way of thinking or understand his movies. I think these are the ones that didn't like it. My wife and I love his work, we have all of his films. Where as I don't think this is his best, it's not his worst,(The Village I thought was his worst, it was just ok). I thoroughly enjoyed this film and highly recommend it! I recommend watching it for yourself, ignore the reviews, and make up your own mind. By the way, I think his best films are Unbreakable, Sixth Sense, and Signs, if you haven't seen them.

Buy it from the $4.99 DVD bin at Best Buy. I really don't think it's worth more than that. Also John Leguizamo's acting is atrocious and totally unconvincing as as math teacher.

There was a time I would've waited in line to see a M. Night movie... those days are gone. Up until The Village, I loved his movies, and even that movie I thought was pretty decent, but this one I waited until it was on DVD to see and I almost felt it was a waste of time. With the exceptions of a couple actors, the acting is pretty bad (in the extras Night says he wanted to make "the best B movie" ever made, but it's still pretty bad acting by that standard). The story seems farfetched, even some of the "normal" people seem crazy and some of the victims of the plague seem to put too much thought into how to die to make even that much believable. If you want a good movie by this director/writer, go with any of the first three films he made.

I love all movies written and directed by him. I know sometimes the plot may not be strong, but you have to have a creative imagination to understand where he is coming from. If you have an open mind you will understand. Just something about these movies make you wonder...

First off, let me say I am a fan of M. Night Shyamalan. I think Mark Wahlberg and Zooey (forget her last name) have done good jobs acting in other movies.
However, this movie is extremely disappointing. Wahlberg and Zooey literally come off like their characters are mentally challenged at times. I dont mean that as an insult to people with mental disabilities. I mean, I was honestly wondering if their characters were supposed to be mentally challenged as part of the plot at times. I have talked to others that watched the movie and they said they wondered the same thing at parts.
I get the "idea" behind the movie. And yes, it is "interesting". But the direction of the film, acting, and writing were just not up to the usual qualities of all the people involved. And it falls very short of what it could have been.
Definately pass.

"The Nothing Happening"

The Real Title of this movie should have been called "The NOTHING HAPPENING"
Nothing Flipping happened in the movie, A bunch of people are dying at random, Commiting suicide and such. There are several Brain dead theorys as to what it could be causing it, from Terrorists, to p!ssed off trees (wtf?) But they never tell you what the heck it is in the movie. The last 10 minutes of the movie i was really expecting SOMETHING to happen... anything at all... and NOTHING, Absolutely NOTHING happened.
to add to the entire Junktastic experience, is the god aweful acting by Marky Mark. I know this guy is a better actor than this.
M Night Shamalama Ding Dong should have his directing priveleges Revoked immediately (having not made a single remotely entertaining movie since the Sixth Sense)
DO NOT BUY, RENT, OR ENTERTAIN THE THOUGHT OF WATCHING THIS MOVIE

The title is quite ironic becase nothing is happening. This is the worst movie Ive seen in some time. The story is stupid and nothing is resolved, the acting is bad. I kept thinking to myself during the picture that this ending better be good, and not only was it not good, it was the worst possible scenario. This was a simple, silly idea that had no real plot and went absolutely nowhere. An absolute waste of time and money. I wish I could say you may like it if your a fan of..., but I cant honestly think of any scenario in which anyone would watch this and think, "Wow, that was good".

Like others, I enjoy previouse M. Night Shyamalan movie's. However, this movie is definitly his worst to date. The acting by the entire cast is just horrible, with Mark Wahlberg being the worst from the very beginning of the movie. The idea for the movie isn't that bad, its just that how it is presented just isn't that scarry or even suspenseful. See it once if you must, be not a must have for your collection.
