For these sorts of epics, I am always disappointed by the imposed limit of 2 hours or so on a movie. In this, with the extended scenes, you really get a deeper appreciation of the story. I wish they would put versions like this in theaters.

Bought this for my father, who loved the set. It is a direct continuation of the LOTR extended editions, which made him like the set even more. The extended scenes were a strong addition, and he really enjoyed the aesthetics of the packaging.

This Box set is Great. Has all three movies . You get the special features. Overall good value. Don't need Blu Ray set.

Jackson , the crew and the actors always do an excellent job with the movies he's involved with, I only gave 4 stars but would have gave 4.5 if rating system would have let me. its hard to top the Lord Of The Rings trilogy but I have to say the story ,acting and visuals were fun to watch. I haven't read the Tolkien books so I'm not comparing it to them. The extended versions to me are always better then theatrical versions, because they provide more info and make the story more interesting.

Originally watched the film's from redbox, which were not the extended versions. The extended series is like a whole different movie! It actually connects the series to lord of the rings movies more than the other films.

These movies are awesome to begin with, but when you add the extended scenes and bonus materials this set exponentially enhances the Hobbit series for the fan that wants to experience all there is about them.

this is an incredible set, 15 dvds containing all the hobbit trilogy, plus a boatload of extras. great set for the money. paid 50 bucks on sale. great movies, great sound, what more could you want. buy it already

I have loved the books, read them years ago, and have reread them a few times over the years. I was pleasantly surprised with how well the movies turned out. I had to own the set, and I don't buy many movies.

I grew up reading the book, watched the movies religiously when they came out in the theatres, and now I'm very happy to own the extended edition boxed set!

My family are huge Tolkien fans. Love these movies, even if they don't exactly follow the storyline of the book. Watch when you have a LOT of free time!

The definitive collection. Just like the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Unfortunately, the Best Buy store didn't have the Blu Ray set, so I was forced to buy the DVD set. Bought the Blu Ray set later.

Needed a backup. one or two of my set discs are bumpy. Got a newer dvd player and this set to watch forever

I have been a fan of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. The Hobbit series did not disappoint. In some ways, this trilogy is better. This is a classic worth keeping for generations to come.

I purchased The Lord of the Rings in this format and loved it. So as soon as I could afford The Hobbit I bought it! Love it, extra scenes that were missing from the theater version.

Love the book, love to see so much detail in the movie. I appreciate how the director tried to remain true to the original story. Love the imagination and visualizations.

The extended version completes the Jackson version of the Hobbit movies very nicely. And I really liked to watch the behind the scenes documentaries that were included.

Awesome story line and cool creatures through out the movie one of my favorites with the Lord of the Rings a must have for any Hobbits fan or movie collector

This is a great addition to the Lord Of The Ring movie series. I really like the books and I think Peter Jackson did a great interpretation of these books.
