There were several moments of frustration as I waited for my over-sized companion to realize that I wanted it to jump across a gap, dive underwater, or scale a wall. The AI can be very slow or unresponsive at times. Not in an immersion breaking way, more in a way that realistically portrays what it would be like to order around a giant animal.
"Trico" , your companion, will often times wander around curiously, or stop to scratch itself, while you're yelling commands at it in frustration. In hindsight, it actually kind of added to the experience, it made Trico feel like a real being with it's own will.
Trico's large size grants it many capabilities that will make you dependent on, such as crossing large gaps or climbing giant structures. Because you're so reliant on Trico to solve puzzles, it's unresponsiveness can tend to get a little frustrating since you'll just be waiting on it to progress at certain points.
With the bad out of the way, The Last Guardian is a very touching and emotional journey. I personally enjoyed it just as much as I did ICO and Shadow of the Colossus. The bond that you form with Trico throughout the game is something you can only truly appreciate by playing the game yourself. If you approach the game with some patience you won't regret playing it. It's an amazing game!

Very visually and technically well made game. Story is in depth with about a child and their relationship with his companion.
Controls seem a bit clunky at first but easily adaptable after playing for 30 minutes.
Game is good but the hype made it very underwhelming since I am a huge fan of ECO and Shadow of the Colossus.
Would recommend.

This was an amazing game. Great story, atmosphere and concept. I knew this was going to be a great game because these guys are responsible for Shadow of the Colossus.

If you're reading about this game, you're likely familiar with Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. For those of you in that category, this game is kind of a combination of those two games, gameplay wise. You interact with a large creature that you can climb on, while also finding ways to lead that creature to new areas.
The Last Guardian was in development for 10 years, and now that it's here, it's a really great game that's a lot of fun to play. The downside is that the camera control is not great (although it's better after being patched), and it takes some time to get used to how the AI of Trico, the creature that you adventure with, works. My recommendation to new players is to be sure to fully read the online manual before playing so you'll know how to properly command Trico. Most complaints seem to come from people who didn't read the manual or figure out how to properly issue commands.
If not for the sometimes difficult camera control, and the occasionally unresponsive AI of Trico, this would be a 5 star game for me. With those issues, it's still a game worth playing and I'd recommend it, especially for Ico and Colossus fans.

Some people may find the camera and controls to be a bit frustrating. The camera can swing wildly and positioning can be finicky at times with controls. I think that sense of lack of controls works well with this particular game. The boy's pet, Trico, is the most lifelike AI companion ever to grace a video game. You will bond with him and have an emotional experience unlike most games.

If you have played Ico or Shadow of the Colossus before, then you will know exactly what kind of game this is. Although the camera and controls can feel a bit clunky at times, they are still outshined by the sheer scope and detail that was beautifully crafted for this emotionally powerful tale of companionship.

My gosh, where do I start on this game...here are some of the PROS -
1) the game does do a good job of creating some sense of mystery and suspense and urges you to press on to investigate
2) the creature is very well animated
CONS -
1) the graphics definitely feel dated and should've been released for the PS3
2) the controls feel extremely clunky and the boy moves in a very frustrating, staggering manner (like he is constantly trying to find his footing/balance)
3) the puzzles are extremely frustrating, not because you can't solve them on your own but because you have to somehow convince the beast to do certain commands and even if you are able to FINALLY get the beast to do something the right way, it's going in the wrong direction
4) the colors feel very washed out
5) smashing the buttons to "get away" from the enemies is really weird and breaks away from the flow of the game
6) camera angles are aggravatingly annoying especially when you are climbing the beast.
This is my opinion. I have played Shadow of the Colossus and really enjoyed that game but I feel like this one fell short for me. Shame, I really thought this game had a lot of potential but it was just too frustrating to continue playing. I put in roughly 5 hours and couldn't take it anymore. This one got sold back to the store.

Fumito Ueda does it once again! I remember Team ICO captured my fondness when the gem ICO released on the Playstation 2, followed up by the phenomenal Shadow of the Colossus and I was hooked on his design and story telling through emotional narrative ever since. Once again he outdoes himself with Trico being such a believable creature that felt so real at times, all due to the mannerisms and familiarity of pets you have in your home. Very few can tell stories in such a way through gameplay, music, and interactive narrative.

The AI was initially really frustrating, but got easier after you got a feel of it.
The controls are fkng awful. This cannot be overstated. There were also significant performance issues and I'm playing in a Pro. I just beat the game and while I did enjoy the story and puzzles, the frustration from the controls definitely hurt the experience for me.

I love how Tricko (the bird dog) reacts in-game. It looks pretty natural. What I really don't like about this game are the controls. Most of the time its really annoying when you try to do what you really want. Everything else is great, puzzles, graphics, enviroment... everything is great. Just the controls sucks... and in a BIG way at times.

This game is great if you love indie games that feel sound and look great without going too deep into a story.
