This game is amazing especially the fact that they can just remaster any old game and make it like it never existed in the past.
But in this case it did the only issue is when you remaster a game you should remaster it so the console you play it on can handle it.
Nintendo Switch needs to definitely be remastered not in the case that its versatile and it's amazing already but the fact that the internal components need to be upgraded as in video while playing Zelda if you fall into an area that has multiple enemies you start getting frame drops. I've noticed this right off the bat.
A lot of games that were made for Nintendo switch that are outstanding on any other system seem to fall short.
One example is Mortal Kombat 11 this game is amazing when it comes to graphics and detail but on Nintendo Switch the game is slow and seems like you're playing it on PS2.
I do not blame the creators of Zelda on this I blame Nintendo for not putting an amazing video card and processor in this unit.
Hopefully Nintendo next generation decides to stick with the competitors when it comes to this otherwise they're always going to be falling short as I've noticed throughout the years with Wii and Wii U.
Overall the game will keep you busy and you will have a fun time exploring so have fun but don't let the frame drops bother you

I went into this game not playing the game boy version. I must say after breath of the wild being so open world. It was refreshing to go back into a classic Zelda style game. The story is fun and the remake is faithful to the original. The only negative I would give the game is the slight frame rate hiccup that occurs occasionally. Other than that it’s a great game!

As someone who grew up playing the original Game Boy version of Link's Awakening, I'm pretty familiar with the source material, but it sure didn't feel like it when playing this update for Switch. It was very recognizable, but also strangely foreign in almost every respect.
The layout of the entire world looks and feels very different with the restraint of screen-by-screen scrolling eliminated outside of dungeons. It greatly alleviates the Game Boy version's feeling of cramped, and often tedious travel.
In terms of visuals, this game couldn't change much to improve just how perfectly it's suited to my taste. Not only does it look great on its own terms, it also does an excellent job of re-creating the charm of the simple pixel art it's based on.
There are improvements to the game design that run deep. The most impressive features for me were the expanded bonus games, like the raft ride, the crane game, and especially the fishing. Each one adds quite a bit of extra incentive to keep coming back, and they're each highly improved in terms of complexity and satisfaction in providing a fair, but demanding enough challenge that's just genuinely fun.
The game didn't make its big transition unscathed, though. Essentially every single change to the basic play control -- movement and animation -- makes the game about 10 times harder to play, and quite a bit more frustrating compared to its retro counterpart.
There were several great ideas implimented in the control scheme, like dedicating several of the buttons to the most-used actions, which vastly streamlines the tiresome routine of opening and closing the menu to change items for every little situation. However, Link feels more rigid to control, harder to aim with an analog stick, and his jumping feels disorientingly unwieldy.
If you're used to cutting corners when jumping over gaps as was possible on Game Boy, you may find it difficult if not impossible to perform the same maneuvers on Switch.
Lastly, the biggest detriment to the game is the dungeon building activity. You'll be tasked with using rooms you'll recognize from the dungeons you've cleared to arrange them in a layout of new dungeons, then you can play those dungeons. It sounds like a concept with a lot of promise, and while it's more intriguing than you might expect, it really doesn't live up to the potential.
The worst part is that this segment isn't just an optional bonus. It's actually required to build and complete TWELVE arranged dungeons to earn all the items like heart containers for extending the player's life meter, seashells for upgrading the player's attack, and the last bottle for healing. Nine might have been tolerable. Three to five would have been fine, but twelve is completely unreasonable.
This extremely tedious obstacle to complete item collection means that you can't just start up a game and enjoy the full adventure the way you would in the original. You're now burdened with a load of chores that you may not be on board with.
Despite all that -- and I can't stress enough how big of a flaw it is -- I still HIGHLY recommend the game. It's worthwhile just for the novelty of seeing how the world has been re-imagined, but the rewards you'll find go well beyond that. Fans of Zelda will find this to be an authentic example of the best features in the series. Newcomers couldn't start with a better installment, beautifully updated for modern demands in visuals and control scheme conveniences.

I never played the original so as a first time player through this story, I like it. It looks fantastic. It’s traditional Zelda with exploration and dungeons. It’s definitely not as big as other Zelda games but it’s a fun addition to the series. Great game for younger kids as it’s not too difficult.

I used to play the heck out of this on the original Game Boy, and I remember it being SO hard but then again I was like 8 years old. Coming back to this game totally remade I was having flash backs. It was reliving my 8 year old self and remembering all of those puzzles that frustrated me. This is a great game for any Zelda fan!

The original version of this game, on the original black and white Game Boy, accompanied me to Japan on my exchange student trip 26 years ago. The remake of this game, while intimately familiar, brings with it a ton of updates and improvements. Being able to use so many more buttons really makes playing this feel like playing any modern Zelda game.
For those new to the adventures of one of the most famous green-clad protagonists, this is a great way entry point into the series. While rescuing Zelda isn't the point of this particular game, it still retains the hallmark pot smashing, chicken attacking, puzzle solving game play that the series is known for.
I let my 5 year old daughter have a go after she was interested in the cartoony graphics, and within a few minutes, she caught on quickly, and I was pleased to watch her mind work as she tried to figure out different enemy attack patterns (using a shield is brand new to her).
While the game is pretty quick to complete compared to the more main titles (this is, after all, a port of the original Game Boy game), the polish on the refresh and the nostalgia put it on an equal footing with any other Zelda adventure.

This may not be Breath of the Wild 2, but it’s a breath of fresh air to so completely revitalise an old classic. Rather than dumping a port on the eShop, they completely remastered and redesigned everything to make this classic story feel fresh and new again. Even if you’ve played a prior version, I highly recommend this beautiful remake.

The Legend of Zelda for Nintendo is a timeless classic that beautifully captures the essence of adventure and discovery. Playing this game now with my young son, I am reminded of the magic that video games can bring. Seeing his eyes light up as he embarks on his own heroic journey, just as I did years ago, makes the experience all the more special.

This game is a beautiful remake of the original Link's Awakening and a very fun little story to play through. The dungeons are fun, but challenging and it's a great game for both new and old LoZ fans alike. Would without hesitation recommend this game to anyone as it's a great addition to any Switch library.

I always loved RPG game and this is one of the best game I ever played. Graphic, storyline and quality is top notch. Each mission is very interesting to solve and you have to figure out the whole picture to understand what is going on. Characters are adorable with this mini version as well.

I am a Zelda fanatic and I love this game so far. Been playing about a week and have completed 3 dungeons. Gameplay is good and the fights are so far not overly difficult. Like all Zelda games, once you figure out what you need to do to beat a boss it’s fairly simple. If you’ve enjoyed Zelda games in the past I highly recommend.

What a solid remake. New music score is awesome. Controls are simple. The positive changes to the game like the strength bracelet being a constant active item is nice.
Only one thing wrong with this game and that's the occasional frame rate drop. Other than that, if you like Zelda games, stop reading and go buy this one

This game is joyful. As soon as you see Link, it's world, and it's characters, you are drawn in to this dream like world. It's cute, welcoming, and adorable.
This new presentation eases you into an old, familiar, yet wonderful Zelda experience. The world may be relatively small, but it's filled with great areas and collectibles that are fun to track and worth your while in rewards.
The dungeons are equally as rewarding. There are eight dungeons, each unique and bringing their own challenges. There are usually missions to complete around the world in between dungeons, and while backtracking is a factor, the small world makes it easy to become familiar with locations across the map.
Fair warning, there are parts of the game that are really difficult. There are points in the game where I had to spin my wheels and had to try for a long time before finding the solutions to puzzles. Younger players may find some difficulties throughout their journey.
Overall though, the journey is worth it. This game is a welcome addition to the modern top down Zelda catalog and one that should be experienced by all fans.

I have to say that I truly loved this port. The art style they choose looks gorgeous and it makes you feel like playing with a diorama at all times. The gameplay feels renovated and it's smaller world looks a lot more detailed, compared to other games on the franchise like BoTW. I'm about to start my second playthrough.
