By his own admission, singer Brett Anderson is not an audiophile, his autobiography has fond memories of listening to music on a cheap system, and this album stands as an homage to transistor radio friendly pop. The songs are great, musicianship is top notch, but the turntable doesn’t do this album any favors. Lots of treble, some in-the-red distortion, a touch muddy in the mix. You’re better of grabbing the deluxe CD with the bonus tracks.
