The Road is a very good film with groundbreaking performances by Vigo Mortenson and Kodi Smit-McPhee. The movie is an intense post-apocolypic drama that takes a gritty look at what human beings might act like in that environment. This movie makes the Walking Dead seem like a holiday in Disneyland. That said, it's got fine acting and well thought out dialog/action. Ultimately, it's a story of survival that exposes the capacity that human beings have for brutality.

Read the book so had to see the movie! It's futuristic view of the end of the world that makes, you feel for a father willing to do whatever it takes to care for his son.

I read the book and really enjoyed it but wasn't sure about the movie. In the book the young boy is whining all the time and wasn't sure I would enjoy watching that throughout a movie. But it didn't happen all that much and made the movie worth watching.

I love this movie. Actually I'm a fan of the "end of the world" movies, and this is a very decent piece of art.

Perfect Adaptation of McCarthy's Masterpiece

This won't be a long review. The book is a masterpiece and deserves every accolade it garnered. I was enthralled and read it in virtually one sitting. The movie didn't disappoint, either. Viggo Mortensen was perfectly cast and the cinematography was stark, lonely, and depressing, just as it was described in the book: a wasteland populated by dangers of unimaginable scope and magnitude. I was particularly grateful that Chillcoat kept the story and screenplay so close to the book. It was like seeing the book come to life. This kind of movie isn't for everyone, but if you like apocalyptic fiction, there's no story better than this one. It's an epic love story of a father doing anything and everything to protect his son.

BEST MOVIE

This is without a doubt, one of the BEST movies I have ever seen. It is a story that has stayed with me after seeing it. It is gripping, well-acted and both frightening and hopeful at the same time.
It is a difficult storyline but upon reflection, it is something to have in your collection.
I did not see the "Extras" so I only rated it as "average" given there was no "n/a" option.

A chilling portrayal of a post apocalyptic world. It shows what a person will do to protect who they love. And when such an existence will take away from a person. It was well acted and well produced. A definite A+

This movie was great but short. It jumped from scene to scene tring to prevent you from seein the out come, it almost makes it that you must watch the movie with commentary and subtitles to get the full meaning. All and all It was grapes of wrath meets deliverence with a touch of hills have eyes.

Incredibly Depressing

I don't think I have ever seen a more depressing movie. The protoganist (Viggo Mortensen) is solely concerned with protecting his son, and doesn't do a thing to help any of the numerous other people he finds in danger. It's also frustrating because the cause of the worldwide disaster is never mentioned. It's been about two years since I watched this movie and I'm still disturbed by its barbarity and fatalistic imagery. I wish I had never watched it.
