Big fan of his books so I was worried about MTV doing the show. The overall feeling is just good, not bad, not outstanding just good. Allanon seems too weak compared to the books, I was really disappointed in the casting for him, I guess I pictured him more dark with long hair, etc. The acting is really surprisingly talented, with some faces you know. It's definitely going for the MTV audience, maybe it will be moved to a different network in the future! Worth buying though if you're a fan of the books.

I had never heard about this book or even watched MTV for that matter but I somehow came across this show and LOVED it. I mean wow. In 10 eps SOOOOO much happens. Talk about twists and turns. I loved the character of Eretria (if they ever do a spin off I'd watch). I love the three main characters (amberla/eretria/wil). Fast paced with lots of action. You've got magic and elves and so much going on. I am happy the show was picked up for a season 2 because the ending is a cliffhanger I must say. I also must admit I really enjoy the chem between eretria/amberle or princessrover as fans call it. Hope this show is around for years to come.

I'm not familiar with the books this series is based on, and that probably contributed to my enjoying the show as much as I did (apparently, the show is quite different from the books). I found this to be a pretty straightforward, but enjoyable, Lord of the Rings-type adventure. And I was happy to see Poppy Drayton (who had a small but memorable role in Downtown Abbey) as one of the leads.

I never read the Shannara books even though I'm a big fan of Fantasy/Sci-Fi. I saw the first episode of this TV series and couldn't wait for it to come out on DVD. I"m now reading the books and even though there are differences between the books and the TV series, I'm still enjoying both equally well. I cant wait for the next season!

While it is not Game of Thrones, it is well done and good quality. It looks good and I was pleasantly surprised. I have not read the books so cannot comment on the comparison.

What more do you need. Fantasy adventure, Elves, Humans and Demons. Throw in some magic, along with people who don't believe in the old story's of magic and demons and you get lots of screams and running...

this is not the greatest but it is good for what it is. i still think legend of the seeker was much better and still miss that show.

Long time fan of the book series, I only recently checked out the show, and I must say I am quite surprised by the quality of it. Definitely will be checking out season 2

I had already read the books so it wasn't as interesting as it could be. If I hadn't read the books it would have been very good.

This is based on the books by Terry Brooks. It is based on the middle book of a trilogy. I enjoyed watching this on MTV last year.

Perfect length for binge watching and a good story line. I like the characters and it wasn't too over the top with violence.

Hope they renew this show, because I really like it. I like the back story, of ancient humans from there ancient past.

A good show, despite the low budget. Not good for hardcore Shannara fans. Many liberties taken with the story.

Great show got my son to read the books I am re reading them too so much more to the books but you can't beat watching when you don't have time to read

Seems to be set in the future after the world we know today has collapsed and the age of man has ended. An elvish lady has to set out on a quest to try and save a tree know as the Ellcrys which imprisons demons. If they fail the world is lost. Based on books series from Terry Brooks. Think it could of been better if directed like Lord of the Rings

I enjoyed watching but it had a lot of potential that it left unspoken for the easier cliches.

Great new show based on another set of books. Really enjoyed the story, the scenery was remarkable, and the cast did an amazing job too!!!

I read the books before I watched the series on mtv. I love the author, Terry Brooks. Great production. I'm hoping for Season 2.
