I had never heard about this book or even watched MTV for that matter but I somehow came across this show and LOVED it. I mean wow. In 10 eps SOOOOO much happens. Talk about twists and turns. I loved the character of Eretria (if they ever do a spin off I'd watch). I love the three main characters (amberla/eretria/wil). Fast paced with lots of action. You've got magic and elves and so much going on. I am happy the show was picked up for a season 2 because the ending is a cliffhanger I must say. I also must admit I really enjoy the chem between eretria/amberle or princessrover as fans call it. Hope this show is around for years to come.

I am a huge fan of the Terry Brooks Shannara Chronicles books and was very much looking forward to watching the new TV series. Most of the times I am not a fan of the translation from Book to TV or the Big Screen but even taking that into consideration I was pulled in due to how they changed the location to be post apocalyptic earth and intertwined the locations of the books with current day locations like San Francisco. I found myself having to force myself to not watch them all in one sitting but it did take only one 3-day weekend to finish them all. I love being able to watch them without commercials too!

Big fan of his books so I was worried about MTV doing the show. The overall feeling is just good, not bad, not outstanding just good. Allanon seems too weak compared to the books, I was really disappointed in the casting for him, I guess I pictured him more dark with long hair, etc. The acting is really surprisingly talented, with some faces you know. It's definitely going for the MTV audience, maybe it will be moved to a different network in the future! Worth buying though if you're a fan of the books.

When I originally watched this on TV, I was rather disappointed that it veered so far from the book. I hesitated a bit getting it on blu-ray because of that. On watching a 2nd time through, knowing what it was, I enjoyed it alot more. There are some things I still don't enjoy. It's a bit too MTV'd in spots which made my eyes roll and the acting in spots is rather bad. Still, I found it fun the 2nd time through. The video quality on this release I also thought was excellent. It was nice and crisp and popped.

I'm not familiar with the books this series is based on, and that probably contributed to my enjoying the show as much as I did (apparently, the show is quite different from the books). I found this to be a pretty straightforward, but enjoyable, Lord of the Rings-type adventure. And I was happy to see Poppy Drayton (who had a small but memorable role in Downtown Abbey) as one of the leads.

I read the series of books. I did not want that to end. When the series came on TV, I had to watch it. I grew up with the books. I fell in love with the series all over again. I bought the season on regular disc first, hoping it would come in blue ray. My prayers were answered. I love this show. Can't wait for the rest. Here's to wishing. Thank you.

I never read the Shannara books even though I'm a big fan of Fantasy/Sci-Fi. I saw the first episode of this TV series and couldn't wait for it to come out on DVD. I"m now reading the books and even though there are differences between the books and the TV series, I'm still enjoying both equally well. I cant wait for the next season!

As a huge and longtime fanny of Terry Brooks, I love this series. Somethings are different than in the book its based on but that's how these things are done. Very high production and very interesting. My only gripe is Will gets annoying, but it's bearable.

This is a great story from the book series by Terry Brooks. All aspects of this MTV series are done to a very high standard. An excellent cast, beautiful cinematography and epic special effects all add up to a spectacular viewing experience.

Have read all the books in the Shannara world, and was skeptical about how this would turn out. Was hooked from the very first minute. A must see for all fans of Terry Brooks. Can't wait (darn) for Season Two!!

What more do you need. Fantasy adventure, Elves, Humans and Demons. Throw in some magic, along with people who don't believe in the old story's of magic and demons and you get lots of screams and running...

I have never read the books and I have heard some complaints that the series doesn't follow them.
That makes for a very entertaining show. Forget what you've read, enjoy the journey!

While it is not Game of Thrones, it is well done and good quality. It looks good and I was pleasantly surprised. I have not read the books so cannot comment on the comparison.
