I absolutely love John Carpenter's 1982 horror masterpiece The Thing!! The Thing is very much like watching Ridley Scott's 1979 sci-fi horror masterpiece Alien. I love the cast with Kurt Russell as R.J. Mccready and the practical FX by Rob Botin!!

Pretty awesome transfer for a movie that is 30 years old. Looked really sharp with this new rescan.

I wanted the Steelbook version, but oh well. Carpenter at his Cult Classic best, with Kurt Russel leading the way in this action, horror, comedy!!

I've had the special edition DVD for years, and finally upgraded to the SP Blu Ray so I could introduce my son to this sci fi/horror classic. It was worth the upgrade. The picture is terrific, and the special features (those that carried over and the new ones) make this worth getting. More discs now have fewer special features, but this is loaded. The movie is terrific, and is a cool take on the classic 50s movie which was one of Carpenter's favorites. You can tell he loves the story, and that he took the time to carefully craft a new version of it true to the original. Story telling through movies just isn't the same now.

Like it! The man that checked me out talked to another employee so much that it took too much time to check me out! He actually sat in a chair behind the counter while checking me out! I was at the customer service counter in the appliance area.

I love this movie. The cast of characters (notably Kurt Russell & Keith David) are superb. The old school visuals were great for their day. Scream/Shout Factory releases are awesome. They have done a great job with releasing quality Blu-rays of classic horror movies, and this one is no exception. This version is much improved over my old HD-DVD version (remember those?). John Carpenter is 1 of my favorite directors, so this is just one of many of his movies that I've recently purchased.

If you love The Thing, this is by far the best package regarding this incredible movie. The movie looks incredible in Blu-ray! I watched a the dvd and the blu-ray playing at the same time and the differences are incredible (sharper image, better color correction, cleaner image). It has so much content (behind the scenes, trailers, interviews, etc) that it will take hours to what all of it. For the price and content, this is a must for fans!

The movie came in pristine condition, the movie looks and sounds fantastic. If you are a true fan of "The Thing" I would recommend this edition as it has a lot of special features.

John carpenters the thing is an under appreciated classic horror film. It’s an intelligent horror film. The characters aren’t stumble or making poor choices. The thing shows up unpredictably. The special effects are amazing, and show the best of practical effects.

This version of the film looks a lot cleaner than the previous release. I’d recommend buying this version of it if you wanna pay the extra money. Love Scream Factory. You should also definitely watch The Thing if you haven’t, it’s a frickin classic.

This is a classic and it looks amazing! All the visuals are beautiful and grotesque

How many of yall knew the Norwegian soldier at the beginning of the film is yelling the plot of the movie!? It roughly translates to "get away you idiots its not a DOG its a THING ITLL KILL YOU ALL!" gotta appreciate good films like these

The Thing is an awesome movie. Kurt Russell is great in this movie. This movie is the remake of the 1951 version. I now own all three versions of this movie. 1951 / 1982 / 2012. I recommend getting all three.

This movie is one of my all time favorites. Maybe I'm a sucker for the science fiction/horror combo, but when it's done well, it gets me every time. This is a must watch for any fan of either genre

The Thing is one of my all-time favorite films, and Scream Factory's loving remaster is absolutely the way to watch this classic, not just of the horror genre, but movies of the past half century. As an owner of the Collector's Edition DVD issued by Universal (Itself a great issue of the film,) many years ago, I originally hesitated due to other priorities. I wish I had made this version a priority much earlier. Scream Factory restored The Thing into a 2K scan, and if it weren't for certain items that date the movie, (or my own rapidly increasing dating,) you'd swear it was a recently filmed movie. The icy Antarctic setting, the blacks of night, the light of fires, and Rob Bottin's artistically gory practical effects all pop in this scan. If you loved the Universal DVD picture, this will blow you away. Extra-wise, Scream Factory always provides; here, they've included everything from the Universal Collector's Edition as well as their standard inclusion of many new extras. All told, you'll receive a blu ray with film and extras, including a new commentary, (as well as previous ones,) and several other extras, as well as a second DVD including the 80min Making Of documentary, as well as a slew of others. The Thing comes from a heyday of great horror that still holds strong, even bettering most new voices that have come since. It, much like the original Alien, still hold the power to shock and awe. Regardless of whether you own a prior version, THIS is the version you need to add to your library. Scream Factory ALWAYS delivers; with The Thing, they hit the high mark even among their other re-releases.

This is the best complete edition I have found. I wish it was in 4K but other than that it’s excellent! John Carpenter is Amazing!

A great Blu ray release of a great action film. The disc also has some unreleased footage as well. Great action and a great picture
