It’s been years since I ventured into getting a massager, therefore I was thrilled to obtain this product! I am getting up there in the age and this product was a welcomed relief! I routinely walk, bicycle and do odd-jobs around the house for exercise and I experience minor aches and pains like everyone else. This is a wonderful massager that works well and manages to rejuvenate my sore and aching muscles. The product has a futuristic look and is easily hand held while in operation. It’s compact, lightweight and easily manipulated and most of all it’s not heavy. The product is pretty quiet while in operation and it’s certainly POWERFUL! It comes standard with 4 attachments so you can pick and choose what body part you wish to target. Having several speeds to choose from is a great feature of this product. Battery life is amazing! I’ve utilized it for several sessions lasting many minutes and there was no need for recharging this device. I’m loving this massager, which offers me so much relief when needed. Overall it’s quiet and super powerful and doesn’t fatigue me to utilize it. If you are in the market for a quality massager you found it. It’s definitely on my recommended list and I’m super happy with it! Buy one and target those tired and achy muscle groups.

The Theragun Prime is a simple to use massage gun that's very effective. Design The Theragun Prime has the tried and true, Theragun, triangular design. While there's no display, there are three LEDs to show the battery level and above that, five LED lines to show the current speed setting. There's an up button and a down button with a power/start/stop button in the middle. It charges with a USB-C cable. A USB-C to USB-A Cable is included to charge it. It also includes a soft case that has two pockets. I can easily hold the Theragun Prime with the 4 included attachments, the USB-C cable. Controls The controls are very simple and work well. Press the center button to turn it on, press again to turn it off. Once on, hold down the center button to start the percussion. Press and hold the center button again to stop it. The speed controls are an up arrow and down arrow. They're small, hard, raised, buttons. They work well but I don't find them the most comfortable to use. You can also use the Therabody app to adjust the speed and more. Attachments The Theragun Prime includes the following four attachments: Dampener - Larger and softer than the others Standard Ball - Smaller and more firm than the Dampener Thumb - Smaller and a bit more firm than the Standard Ball, like a blunt point almost, not really a point Micro-Point - I was not familiar with this type of end, it's spiked and is designed to increase circulation I don't really find that the smaller or more firm tips hurt. With any, I think it matters more how hard you press. It is great to have the options though and to be able to hit different areas with a little more direct intensity. When you use the Therabody app, as mentioned below, it will suggest which tip to use for each routine. Therabody App You will need to setup/connect an account to use the Therabody app. Once that's done, it's very easy to connect the Theragun Prime to the app. In the app there are controls to start and stop the Prime as well as a speed adjustment with much more granularity. You can drag the slider to any speed you want from 1750 PPM to 2400 PPM. It also shows you how much force you're messaging with as well as the battery level percentage remaining. Rather than just using it manually, with those controls, you can use the app to run a routine. Routines walk you through how to use the Prime most effectively for a given need. It even shows you video of what to do as you go. You can skip forward or back to different parts of the routine. Some of them even include music. You can find routines based on an activity like running, swimming, or biking and there are often warm-up routines as well as recovery routines. You can also find them based on problem areas like back, foot, or hands. You can even find routines for specific issues like carpal tunnel. There are even some more general routines related to things like sleep and relaxation. There are a huge number of routines in the App and they're made very accessible. You can find them from a huge list on the main screen, using helpful drop down groupings, or using a search. They keep adding more too. Some of the new routines that are available now are "Cross Training Warm-Up", "5K Recovery", and "Strength + Conditioning Warm-Up". How well does it work? Last weekend I was doing some yard work, weed wacker, mowing the lawn, and leaf blowing. I was pretty soar after that the weed wacker always hits my arm hard. I used the Theragun Prime on my upper and lower arm and it really helped loosen my muscles. It's amazing the difference it can make and how quickly. I like using it just to massage the area around the back of my neck. Sometimes the routines are just fun to try too. It's also very easy to hold and use. The triangular design gives lots of possible ways to hold it at different angles, making it possible to hit hard to get areas, like your back. Battery life The battery life is great! I mean, I feel like it's hard to judge on a device like this other than I can keep using it and it doesn't stop. I charged it once so far while I've been using it, other than charging it completely when I opened it. Basically, you never need to worry about it not being charged enough for a session, or probably a few days to a week or so of use. I don't know. The battery just doesn't go down fast. It wasn't even low when I charged it. It still showed two out of the three dots lit. It charges with a USB-C cable and one is included, as mentioned above. Summary The Theragun Prime is a powerful, very simple and easy to use massage gun. The only thing I would suggest they change is the up and down arrow buttons that are used the change the speed on the device - and that's really a minor thing that may not bother you at all. I would still strongly recommend you try this before buying any other massage gun. I love the design of the Prime, the included tips and case are great, and the Therabody App has a lot of value-add too, I think.

Verdict: The Theragun Prime 5th Gen is as good as previous generations and other models. Its triangle design allows for effective self-manage in hard to reach areas, which is not possible with cheap massage guns. The included attachments adapt treatment to maximize relief for targeted areas. This is a must-have for long-term use and maximum benefits. The app could be so much more and has been generally disappointing for us. My use case. I have regular lower back pain. I tore my rotator cuff a few years ago and regularly experience shoulder tightness. I have a weird pain behind my shoulder blade. I run 10 miles each Sunday, lift weights several times a week, and do other crossfit training. First impressions. The device feels very sturdy. I like the green color. It comes with four attachments and a charger. I LOVE that it comes with a large case to store the massager and accessories. Setup. The app requires the creation of an account. I already had one so this was quick. Bluetooth connection from the app to the massager was easy. Using the gun trough the buttons is intuitive and easy. Design. The Theragun triangle design is what sets this massager apart from others. The ability to hold the gun firmly from lots of angles allows for precise pressure in hard to reach areas. With the Theragun I can easily massage my rotator cuff. I can reach and apply pressure around my shoulder blade. I can easily go up and down my lower back, and I can massage my hamstring after long runs. Performance. The therapeutic and relief effects of the Theragun is exceptional. I use it several times a week for soreness after long runs, massage lower back for relief, and shoulders for tightness. I have only used the dampener and ball attachments… they are perfect for what I need. The Theragun has helped me so much to deal with my minor issues. Things I love: - Triangle design allows great reach - Effective percussion with different attachments - Great battery life - Storage case - Easy to use - Heavy duty Things I don’t love: - I wish the app was more user friendly and had more useful content. It has been fairly difficult to find useful videos. I think this is a missed opportunity because the app and “smart” features could turn the Theragun into a powerhouse ubiquitous product. I recommend including every major muscle and having a “basic” or “start here” for every muscle. Such videos could provide the basics of where / how to massage based on different types of typical pain for each muscle. I was looking for hamstring and adductor magnus videos… there are none. I was looking for videos to loosen my often tight rotator cuff muscles from a previous injury… nothing. I believe that people buying this massager are motivated customers who are hungry for information and learning. This is an opportunity. But instead of using the app, I look for videos online. Conclusion. The Theragun has done a lot for me (and could do more with a better app). I use it several times a week to deal with aches, pains, soreness, and tightness, mostly figuring out on my own or watching videos online. The triangle design allows me to reach 95% of areas I need to massage, without having to ask for help or pay for treatment. I love it and highly recommend it.

This is the fourth Therabody product I have owned. The other three are still used every day. My oldest is over four years old and works just like new. I am a huge fan of Therabody products. They are high-quality, intuitive to run/use and definitely help me feel better every day. I start my day with the massage gun. It helps to warm up my muscles after a night of sleep. I also use the massage gun to help recover after exercise of any kind. I find that I get immediate relief in the areas of my body that are hurting, aching or stiff. I didn't think it was possible to improve on their original massage gun but this next gen device is definitely better. It is quieter to operate. There is no removable battery to clutter up our shelves and there are more speeds with this massage gun. I don't really have any negatives to say about this device. I truly use it every day (usually multiple times/day). The only negative I would say is the on/off switch is not as easy to use as the last generation device. You have to press it pretty firmly in order to turn it on/off. I also don't see the need for an app to turn it on/off or do pre-programmed massage sessions. Every company seems to be compelled to have their own app. I've used some of their competitor products and find they don't compare to Therabody products. There is a clear difference in the look and feel of Therabody products. Their packaging is also excellent.

Recently I have picked up the Theragun Prime 5th Gen for use for myself after I do running or hiking in my area. It truly is a game-changer to help relieve the soreness that I had after i would do my runs and longer hikes. This is my first masage gun and it fits very well in my hand and I love that it uses USB-C which I have plenty of in my house already. The power that the Theragun produces is great and I love the easy ability to change the power and the ease of changing the heads to make sure your massage is perfect. Using it by myself is amazing and easy to do but if you have another person to help you would be amazing as well. It easily targets the muscles that are tired, and digging into the tissues to get any knots out. It's size is perfect for my hands and I really appreicate the power it brings. Having a good amount of battery life between charges is amazing as well and I have used it over 20 times and haven't had to charge it until just today. The ease of plugging it into any USB-C cord is so easy for me as well. If looking for a great product from a great brand I would highly recommend this product. It's my first time using this and would easily buy it agian.

This massage “gun” works as advertised. There’s not much to it. It’s about the size of frisbee, roughly speaking, and it fits comfortably in your hand. Out of the box, it was about one-third charged, so I could use it right away. It comes with four heads, each of a different diameter with one of them having small tendrils like a short-hair paintbrush, and each of which is designed to treat a different part of the body and/or a different type of condition. The device works by rapidly moving the attachment up and down in short strokes at a rate, which is adjustable, of around 2,000 cycles per minute. The choice of attachment depends on the size and location of the ache or pain, and both the app and the included user guide give suggestions as to what to use in a particular situation. Yes, like I said, there is an app because there is an app for everything these days. The app is simple to install (you’ll have to create an account, of course—so what else is new), and it communicates with the device via Bluetooth. The app can operate the device in pre-set modes with suggestions for cycle rate and attachment, depending on the type of ache or pain you’re experiencing. But the device can also be operated just fine using the controls on the handle. I want to state right up front that I am not a doctor, so thoughts and opinions expressed here are totally my own and the result of my age and experience with pain in various parts of my body. I see two kinds of pain, short-term aches and pains as a result of exercise or exertion or over-exertion and chronic pain that results from arthritis or other conditions usually associated with aging. I am of the age that I experience both. Regarding chronic pain, a device like this is not going to cure it. The pain might not be curable and rather just have to be managed. That’s something for you and your doctor to discuss. But this device can help manage it. Remember from episodes of The Three Stooges or other classic comedies, when someone has to sneeze and they don’t want him to sneeze, so they press their finger under the nose of the sneezer, and they don’t sneeze? It isn’t just putting your finger under the nose that prevents the sneeze. The idea is that you press heavily against the upper lip, not quite to the point of pain, but enough so that you feel it. This fools your brain. It causes your brain to focus on the feeling on your upper lip, and it loses focus on the feeling that you need to sneeze, so you don’t sneeze. I look at the effect of this massage gun as being essentially the same thing when it comes to chronic pain. Press it up against an achy knee or elbow or shoulder, and the stimulation causes your body to focus on that instead of the nearby pain, and you don’t feel the pain as much if at all. The effect lasts for a while after the gun is removed and your body slowly “calms” back down, so you will eventually feel the pain again. But it does help. With regard to short-term pain, the effect is the same, but it can help by causing the pain to be diminished as your body slowly heals from the over-exertion. Eventually the source of the pain heals, and you don’t need the massage gun any more. But if you work out regularly or take part in any activity requiring significant exertion, you’ll likely use this regularly, especially as you age. The device is easy to set up and use, and it’s very portable with its own convenient carrying bag that holds all the accessories and the charging cord. But be aware that the charging cord is only USB-C on each end. You will need to provide a separate AC wall charger to charge it. It will probably charge from a computer port, but it would likely take longer. Overall, I think the device could be very helpful to anyone with localized pain caused by whatever reason.

    Excellent update to the Theragun

I've used massagers like the Theragun for myofascial release for quite a few years now. As a hiker, biker, and long time sufferer of tech neck I don't think there's anything better to loosen up exhausted muscles or help deal with muscle and nerve pain. The latest generation of Theragun Prime doesn't set out to revolutionize the proven design, but rather adds a few subtle refinements to the winning formula. The gun itself is a bit bulky, but very well designed. The triangular handle allows you to adopt several different grips to get to all the hard to reach parts of your back without straining anything or having to get assistance from someone else. The motor is powerful, but surprisingly quiet compared to some of the earlier versions. And a neoprene carrying case keeps the USB charging cable and all the various massage heads well organized. The Theragun app also does a very good job of teaching you how to use each attachment and running you through some basic routines for common issues. Speed can be adjusted manually or controlled by one of many programs built into the app, and once you hit the right spot relief comes almost immediately. As far as maintenance goes, requirements are refreshingly minimal. A small sample of lubricant for the motor's shaft (which does heat up a lot) is included with instructions to apply oil every few months to keep the gun running quietly. The heads are all cast in soft foam rubber which can be wiped clean with a damp cloth. And the gun itself is all hard plastic and rubber, so keeping it clean of sweat or worse shouldn't be an issue. Overall, this is an easy recommendation for anyone looking to address persistent muscle pain or hurry along their recovery after athletic activities but particularly for people new to massage guns. The adaptable grip and the app's guided routines eliminates most of the barriers to entry, and the softer massage heads make it a lot more forging of minor mistakes than other brands which often use hard plastic tips instead.
