Underrated movie definitely a mist see and one you should add to your collection

Wow 4k made it seem fresh from the studio apl over again

This movie is more relevant in todays world than in 1988. Great fight scene lasting about 6 minutes. Fun movie.

This movies story line is a metafore and way a head of its time since its about a homeless drifter who discovers a reason for the ever widening gap between the rich and the poor, turns out it's a conspiracy by non-human aliens. He can see the aliens with these sun glasses he finds in the trash and the story gets interesting as no one else seems to see the alien conspiracy. Ray Nelson wrote it and it was directed by the great John Carpenter back in 1988. It always looked very well filmed when I saw it on TV and it looks good on blu ray. This film was considered a light weight as a Sci Fi movie in the 80's, and somewhat of a "campy, tongue in cheek" flick even back then. After all the primary hero in this movie was a real life wrestler, Roddy Piper. But it turns out this is a really good modern story for our time, with a now-a-days narrative that rings true on many social levels. And the "lightness" of casting a non traditional actor as the cental hero even helps to keep you focused on the films true storyline. So overall it's a really good effort and it holds up after many decades and it will keep you wondering how it's all going to end. I liked it for all those reasons.

The new rendering of They Live is truly amazing! The color and detail are stunning. The sound was also clear. John Carpenter was truly a professional genius. The story was still fresh and has aged well over the decades. The actors did a great job. It is also topical and relevant to today: It is a reasonable extrapolation of what would happen if some tyrants took over and there was a divide between the elite and the average person. The creators certainly knew human nature and did a good job putting together an excellent story. I've only seen it before on TV and not in the movie theaters, so there is no way to compare the experience to the release in the theaters in 1988, but I would say that this was an outstanding improvement over the TV presentation. It is well worth the purchase for those who enjoy the type of story and have access to seeing it in 4K.

This came out the same year as “Alien Nation,” which is a great movie, but for whatever reason I chose to be team A.N. and refused to see “They Live.” Finally saw T.L. decades later and it’s fantastic. 80s awesome - Roddy Piper awesome - longest fight scene in an ally awesome. It’s an insightful commentary on politics that’s perhaps even more relevant today than in the 80s (or maybe more of us have a pair of our own metaphorical truth telling sunglasses now, so we can see that our politicians and media are lying to us). But it’s all wrapped up in a fun 80s action movie package. Highly recommend.

For any fan of Horror or Roddy Pipper this is a must watch movie that merits many repeat viewings.

One of my favorites. What more can I ask for that I got it at a great price??

I’m here to kick butt and chew bubble gum and I’m all out of gum. We start out as slow as the hero is just looking for work but it picks uf fast when he comes across a pair of glasses that shows he’s surrounded by aliens posing as human that have enslaved the human race. With the late great Roddy Piper as the drifter who falls into this madness and decides to take no prisoners and wreck havoc on his way to the truth of how and why people couldn’t see them and the signs of obedience before.

Haven't seen it in years but still holds up. Love this movie.
